I have been wondering, does the inability of the reviewer to master to controls himself translates directly into a lower score/bad review? Especially in case of unconventional controls such as many wii games. I mean just because the reviewer can't handle the game does that mean no one can?
I personally experienced this confusion with Red Steel which I was able control much better than most of the reviewers suggested and hence enjoyed it so much more.
@babelfisher: When the controls think you are no longer standing on the device and actually stops the game in the middle of play, I think it's fair to have it impact the review.
As much as I hate reviews, I do love comparing them. It really shows how one person opinion can differ from another. 1UP seems to say don't buy it, but IGN actually does say "buy it"
Go on Metacritic and find your favourite game, movie, tv show or whatever, and then look at the top and bottom reviews.
Its really a shame. Most of the developers just see the Wii as a toy and instead of porting their games to the Wii, they make rubbish gimmicky versions of them. There are only a few games I can think of that are actually straight ports of the ones on the 360 and PS3 and many more that are just rubbish, toned down version.
@DaveStrife: Best 'shitty port' example has to be Force Unleashed. It was fun, albeit a little easy, until I realized that it didn't remotely resemble the game that people were playing on the other 2 systems. They had removed tons of content.
Wish I could say I was surprised by this one. The Wii is some strange phenom, that's for sure. No matter how many times the peripherals or the system itself disappoints, people just keep plunking more and more money down.
Yeah, a few standouts like Mario Galaxy and their other usual suspects, but anything third party just lays like a rotten onion on top of what should be a delicious roast beef.
I stand corrected on the part of ALL third party games. There are a few that end up decent. Ironically, however, those titles sell like crap. With the exception of Tiger Woods, I think the rest of those titles were commercial flops.
Damn it. I missed that part. You are right, Resident Evil 4 was a decent hit, especially considering most of the buyers already owned the game for another system.
Look, I'm not denouncing the system so much as I am denouncing the hysteria around it. It is a fun little box, but undeserving of the credit it has received.
Yet another gimmick that has failed nintendo. Ill admit i loved my wii for about a month until i realized that accuracy was never going to be a possibility. Then i got a ps3 and havent looked back.

And if that were a review of the actual Wii Remote, it would be accurate 100% of the time.

"F*cking Respawn Points"
By why stop at asterisks? There are plenty of other fun signs to use. For instance:
"F@cking Respawn Points"
Or even going a little more creative:
"F*ck!ng Re$p@wn Po!nts"
Or even:
"F*@king M*#her F*@king G*d D@mn P1ece of Sh!t Respawn Points"

You mean apart from Zack and Wiki, De blob, No More heroes amongst others?
With resident evil 4 and bully you have ports that are great.
Hell even PES and Tiger Woods 09 have decent controls.

Resident Evil 4 was a commercial flop? Huh? C'mon PapaBear ... I know you didn't mean that. No More Heroes was a great game too.
