SingStar: No Worldwide Exclusives, My SingStar Heads Online

SingStar news! First item: SingStar producer Paulina Bozek has told PS3F that unlike certain other music titles available at the moment, the SingStar team have "no interest" in locking certain songs to certain regions of the world. Good news, that comes with a catch: they won't do it on purpose; stuff like licensing issues can still split the stores. Second item: the ultra-cheesy "My SingStar" video repository, which displays 30-second vids of your SingStar performances, is about to move online. Presently, it's available only within the game, but you'll soon be able to view it via a browser, so anyone who does post on it, think twice: your chances of being seen by a friend/loved one are about to go up 100x.

Last night famously famous folks like Carmen Electra, Paris Hilton, Benjia Madden and Danny Masterson descended on the T-Mobile Sidekick Tone-Def After Party during the Coacehella Festival in Southern California to drink (a lot) and play SingStar on the Playstation 3 (a little). The place was, I'd bet, pressure washed afterwards with a mix of bleach and acid. Still won't do any good, but they do try.

US SingStar Lineup Looks...Good?

We know it's more hip to hate on pop music that to sing its praises (get it?), but we'll admit that the lineup for the upcoming US/PS3 edition of SingStar actually looks decent. There's representation from The Ramones, The Smashing Pumpkins and David Bowie (as well as a ton of other excellent artists). Plus the game features a personal favorite, The Rolling Stones' Sympathy For The Devil...though we'd be lying if we denied being at least a little excited to belt out The Cardigans' Lovefool. SingStar Hits PS3 May 20

SingStar is hitting the Playstation 3 in North America on May 20, Sony Computer Entertainment of America announced this morning.

The game will be playable during the weekend long Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California which kicks off later today.

Fans of the game, and music, who attend the festival will be able to get up on stage and sing in front of a live audience in one of two of Sony's interactive entertainment tents. After singing, gamers can surf the PS3's online SingStore and check out the songs that will be available for the game when it releases. They can also upload their performances for all to see via My SingStar Online.

The game will also be playable in the Coachella campground at the Internet Cafe and during the Saturday night "TMO Tone Def Party and SingStar Lounge."
