The Human Berserker class was the first I chose (and the most fun), so I got off on the right foot. I brought several characters to level 50 playing online co-op.
I really think that the lack of 4-player co-op seriously hurt the game. Every class aside from the Berserker and Commando (maybe the lazer Defender) felt rather useless.
If it's only two-players, assist classes fall flat.
I'd love them to take another stab at it. Based on a hiring posting that recently surfaced, it sounds like they are.
@GorbyGipper: I'm with you man, I'd love to see them take another stab at it as well. I still see a lot of potential in the game, and the universe as a whole. I also didn't completely hate the camera, so I'm fine with the right thumbstick combat mechanic.
The game was average. Nothing awful about it, nothing spectacular about it. The problem was the studio talked it up as the second coming of Jebus and fanboys getting pissy and upset that it didn't meet those expectations.
@Gabbelgak: Seriously, I loved the full game even after declaring it the worst 360 game I had played after the demo. It's really Diablo-esque, I'd kill for a sequel!
@manicbomber: GTFO
@Fadakar: My main problem with the game was that they thought removing the cut scenes from co-op was a good idea?! That's just dumb since we all know if we don't want to watch it we just press a button. Besides that it was a fun game and one I think MS pushed out the door too soon.
@Gunloc: True, that was dumb, I played through on coop and had no idea what was going on until I played it by myself. Also, the whole valkyrie death sequence was terrible to put in coop. But yeah, I love love loot systems and mindless killing, makes sense why Borderlands is my most hyped game of the year. :D
@Jandlecack: I think that's really short-sighted and reactionary. One game... not even a bad game... well that's how gamers are expected to react. Regardless, SK's still in business and has even hired someone... can't really put them on the same plain as those other two developers other than to make the contrast that SK was the only company (of the three) to make a game that bombed and still survive.
@okenny :) ...building bridges (to hide under): Well as you said it still bombed and I don't care if the company shuts doors or not, they're still off the radar for 80% of people, just like Guerilla was before the KZ2 reviews had their say.
To put it in simple terms, if Silicon Knights's next game, or Free Radical's or Factor 5's for that matter, if there is one, has to be a mindblowing killer app. Else it will just be more of a disaster than their previous bomb, because they can't count on any hype or anticipation.
@Jandlecack: I seem to remember a dust-up about the reviews for TH, Kevin Pereira and Adam Sessler even made their own soapbox vids in TH's defense. I don't remember that kind of thing happening for Lair or Haze.
TH is a very cool game, one of the most memorable games of this gen for me when I really think about it.
@MetalGearMax: Grow up dude, Silicon Knights is not going to fold because of the mixed reactions to Too Human. Why people hate Dyack so much, I'll never understand.
@ThisCharmingMan: Agree with you there. Concerning the Dyack hate, Maybe because he's a bit too outspoken? Or is it just envy? (I think with CliffyB envy is more prevalent). The guy might be a bit too ambitious but that's better than being complacent right?
Maybe I'm quasi-defending SK because I don't want to see more studios closing. That or I liked Too Human's Diablo-esque gameplay for consoles and want more.
I'm a fan of Silicon Knights, even if Too Human was a little more ambitious than they even expected. I still think they make quality products that are interesting. Looking forward to more news on this.

It's called the "post Nintendo curse" and it has affected:
Rare
Silicon Knights
Factor 5
Left Field
Paradigm
Argonaut

Like it or hate it, Too Human doesn't need a squeal nearly as much as Eternal Darkness does.

They didn't make Soul Reaver. They actually sued Crystal Dynamics over it.
Kain had a great storyline, and interesting gameplay, but man, load times were a killer in that game.

All the freakouts that were so much fun on the gamecube would be actual existing hardware defects known to 360 owners.
Translation: A joke 'E74' stopping the game might not produce smiles. :P

Cmon now. They managed to put Too Average out even after it was in development hell for ten years.

Dyack will go down with it though.

I love it when people say stuff without basis and just conjectural things out of their asses.
Oh and by destined you mean because Too Human was so awful as well as Eternal Darkness?
Speaking of stuff without basis. A recent study* has shown that my overall sexiness can cause sexual impotence.
(By studies I mean the back of a door of a gas station's comfort room).
