She wears pearls and cosplays as an announcer lady while she talks into the camera. Making something like that must be very difficult.

Eh...

This isn't Francis Ford Coppola in the jungle with Marlon Brando or Wernor Herzog trying to push a boat over a mountain. It is Shoko Nakagawa sitting in front of a green screen — hey, there's a new idol named Kurumi Takahashi, too. Finished product below:

Yes, the making of for a fifteen second ad.

Note: The asterisk in the main image has a note that reads, "This is a Super Robot Taisen commercial.

<![CDATA[Shoko Nakagawa Is Doing Another Game Ad]]> This time its Wii title Super Robot Wars NEO. But sadly, it doesn't seem as thought she'll be dressed up as a mecha warrior. She will be wearing pearls and dressed as a newscaster.

That counts for something, right? Right?

"Up until now out of all the things I've worn, wearing this news caster outfit was the most original," Nakagawa said. "It's simple, but on the other hand, I thought it was totally moe."

Shoko Nakagawa is one of the most popular idols in Japan. Nakagawa counts manga, video games and cosplay as her hobbies. Other hobbies include putting her cat's head in her mouth and not playing her Xbox 360 very much and then giving away her games.

Nakgawa also sings the Pokémon anime theme and voices one of the characters. She's a nerd hero!

<![CDATA[Konami Publishing Ninety-Nine Nights II, Shoko Nakagawa In A Big Hat]]> According to Microsoft, Konami will be publishing hack-and-slash Ninety-Nine Nights II. The prequel was developed by Rez designer Testsuya Mizuguchi; however, he does not appear to be involved with this title. Ninety-Nine Nights was published by Microsoft in 2006.

South Korean developer Phantagram worked on the title with Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment. This time Microsoft development arm Feelplus is handling development duties. The sequel has a much darker visual flair.

Fun fact: nerd idol Shoko Nakagawa appeared at promotional events for the game, cosplaying as one of the title's characters. This was back before she was a super-duper famous superstar and before we knew Ninety-Nine Nights wasn't very good.

Another fun fact: While Shoko Nakagawa claimed at the time to be impressed with Ninety-Nine Nights, she actually did not own an Xbox 360 until this past March. And then she didn't seem to play it much and later gave away some of her games. She's got more important things to do, apparently!

<![CDATA[Shoko Nakagawa Gives Away Some of Her Xbox 360 Games]]> At a recent event, popular Japanese idol and Pokémon songstress Shoko Nakagawa gave away a stack of Xbox 360 games — games that she owned.

"I'll giving away a set of Xbox 360 games I haven't played yet," the idol blogged. The games she gave away were Lost Odyssey, Fable II, Gears of War, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, Forza 2 and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

"The game set landed with a guy who doesn't own an Xbox 360," she blogged about the event giveaway, adding, "lololololololololololololololol." LOL indeed.

Earlier this year, Shokotan announced that she had purchased an Xbox 360. According to her gamer card, three of the four games she still owns look largely untouched.

<![CDATA["I Am The Reincarnation of Pikachu"]]> This summer, like every summer, a new Pokémon movie is hitting theaters. This man-dressed as a woman — famed actor, author and singer Akihiro Miwa — is voicing Alpha Pokémon, Arceus.

Dubbed Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time (say that twice fast!), the movie is the third entry in the Diamond & Pearl trilogy.

At a recent press event, the 74-year-old Miwa joked, "I am the reincarnation of Pikachu. That's why my hair is yellow, you see." (This of course would mean that Pikachu is DEAD.) Talent and nerd hero Shoko Nakagawa will also be lending her voice to the movie as Notched-ear Pichu.

This is hardly the first voice acting role for Miwa, previously doing voice work for Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle. Miwa is a show business mainstay, first making a splash as a singer in the 1950s and later appearing in the terrific 1968 crime film Black Lizard, which was directed by Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale).

Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time opens in Japanese theaters this July.

<![CDATA[Shoko Nakagawa Now Owns A PS3]]> Very important update! Last we heard, Xbox 360 owner, popstar and nerd hero Shoko Nakagawa was thinking about buying a PS3. She didn't.

But her buddies did! Hipster musician Meg Rock and transgender fashion model Ayana Tsubaki bought surprised Shokotan with a "Cloud Black" PS3 bundle.

Those two surprised me!! ...They secretly got me a present... Waaaaaaaahaaahaaaaa It's so expensive, I shrieked!! ...Those two are really busy, but they were able to find time to decide to get me... a surprise present!!

Shoko Nakagawa turned 24 on May 5. Her getting the Cloud Black PS3 makes sense as she's a huge FFVII fan. When asked previously who she wanted to marry, her reply was "Sephiroth".

As of February 2008, Japanese daily newspaper Mainichi Shimbun reported that her blog, which opened in 2004, had been accessed one billion times. The blog queen holds the record for single-day-updates on a celebrity blog with 70 updates alone on January 28, 2006. A book version of her blog called Shokotan * Blog was released in 2005. Lesson learned: Blog about things you want so your famous friends can buy them for you.

We're thinking about getting a pony. Our birthday is coming up, but maybe we can save up enough money to buy a pony by then. Ponies are so expensive.

Too subtle? Now all we need are famous friends.

<![CDATA[Shoko Nakagawa Sings New Pokemon Song]]> Earlier this month saw a new ending for the Pokémon anime. A new ending means, you guessed it, a new theme.

The tune, "Get Fired Up Notch-Eared Pichu", is sung by geek princess Shoko Nakagawa, who also voices Giza Mimi Pichu ("Notch-Eared Pichu"). It's a catchy and cute song. You know, for whatever the hell it is.

Those who want to see Shoko Nakagawa and hear the song at the same time, we've got you covered. Those who don't, well.

<![CDATA[Shoko Nakagawa Thinking Of Buying A PS3, Otakudom To Follow Suit]]> Shoko Nakagawa (pictured, with cats) is a big star in Japan. She's a TV personality, a singer and a nerd. She's a very pretty nerd, but still, a nerd. The queen of the otakus!

In Japan, the Xbox platform has traditionally been the one of choice for many otaku. As Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki pointed out, nobody in Japan buys an Xbox on accident.

Not that she needs to earn any more geek cred, but last month she bought an Xbox 360 to play Tales of Vesperia on. She wasn't alone! Lots of Japanese people bought an Xbox 360 for that game.

Then, it was announced that ToV would be coming to the PS3 — with a new character. People got pissed! What did Shoko Nakagawa think? On her blog, she wrote earlier this month, "Although I bought an Xbox 360 just for Tales of Vesperia, various PS3 ports are increasing (・ω・;)(;・ω・) Real-ly"

Two days later, she blogged, "When should I buy a PS3... I guess when we get that national stimulus payment from the Japanese government." (The Japanese government has paid all residents the equivalent of US$150 to stimulate the economy — not that she needs it!)

Why does it matter that Shoko Nakagawa is thinking of picking up a PS3?! Maybe it's fact that her blog has been accessed over a billion times. Or maybe she's a fair representation of what other people in Japan are feeling.

With the Final Fantasy XIII demo coming out and the game announced only for the PS3 in The Land of the Rising Sun, more and more Japanese gamers must be thinking the same thing: It's about time I got a PLAYSTATION 3.

<![CDATA[This Is How You Film A Super Robot Taisen K Commercial]]> Previously we brought word of a new Super Robot Taisen ad from Japanese geek princess Shoko Nakagawa. From the making of pictures, we gathered there was saluting involved.

We just didn't know how much saluting.

Watch the actual ad and making of in the above clip. The ad is super short. And the making of? Very boring. Very. That is, unless you're really into saluting.

<![CDATA[Everyone Wants To Be Xbox LIVE Friends With Shoko Nakagawa]]> Popular geek idol Shoko Nakagawa is a singer, a model, TV personality, co-host of kiddy morning show Pokémon Sunday and now an Xbox 360 owner.

Earlier this week, she posted on her blog that she has purchased an Xbox 360 and a couple games (Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4). She then posted her Avatar as well as her LIVE name, shokommts.

Later that same day, she blogged:

It looks as like I'm a LIVE free Silver member (゜ω゜) Let's duke it out online (゜∀゜)(゜∀゜)――!! Im getting like so many friend requests (・ω・;)(;・ω・)

<![CDATA["You Don't Know How Many Games You Can Complete While You're Alive"]]> Popular Japanese idol Shoko Nakagawa has varied tastes: Playing Final Fantasy VII, cosplaying Super Robot Taisen and putting her cat's head in her mouth. She's an otaku, but is she an otaku's otaku?

In an interview with Otaku USA's Patrick Macias, Nakagawa says she might not be considered an otaku by the hardcore. "I play video games and enjoy anime until the early morning," admits the idol. "Normal people might think I'm an otaku just because I'm into anime and video games," she says. "But hardcore otaku, who might know much more about anime and manga than me, could say, 'No, she's not really an otaku.'"

Oh, but you are otaku, Shoko-tan! Don't sell yourself short. Case in point:

"We only have a limited life. You don't know how many more pictures you can draw. You don't know how many more songs you can sing. You don't know how many more times you can play with your cat," says Nakagawa. "You don't know how many video games you can complete while you're alive... I'm constantly thinking about playing Final Fantasy VII." Deep.

<![CDATA[The Otaku Queen And The Most Explicit, NSFW Bean]]> When not hosting Pokémon cartoons, otaku queen Shoko Nakagawa enjoys the simple things like playing Final Fantasy VII, putting catheads in her mouth and cosplay. Some of her previously cosplays, like Super Robot Taisen, have been quite amazing. Spectacular, even. Her recent bean (yes, bean as in, you know, a bean) cosplay has left us speechless. It might sound innocuous, but it is totally MAXIMUM RISKY. Might be not safe for work, even! Pic after the jump. You've been warned. Enjoy.

<![CDATA[Five Very Dirty Shoko Nakagawa Doppelgangers]]> Certainly, you haven't forgotten admitted-cat-head-swallower Shoko Nakagawa. Besides being a popstar and a big cosplaying otaku, she also co-hosts Sunday morning cartoon show Pokémon Sunday! With nerd cred the inevitable shameful movie homage (NSFW) complete with Shokotan lookalike shouldn't be surprising. Here's what is: Another (yes, another) phony Shoko Nakagawa adult flick has been released. Okay, so? So! This one stars not one, not two, not three Shoko Nakagawa clones, but five. That's correct FIVE. And they appear on screen at the same time! It's like they're cleaving off each other or something. <![CDATA[Shokotan Looks For Akiba's King Nerd]]> That's admitted cat-head-swallower-turned-mainstream-idol Shoko Nakagawa finding bigger nerds than her! She encounters some dude playing Taiko no Tatsujin blindfolded, nerd group dancers and another dude (with no teeth) cosplaying as anime character Haruhi Suzumiya. She then dresses up as a life-sized Evangelion figurine. None of the passer-byers think that, you know, a real human being would actually do that. A chubby guy finally recognizes her. Good for him! He's even dressed as his own self-created character called A-Hero (Akihabara Hero) and protects the Akiba "holy land" by walking around from store-to-store with other nerds. He's even got his own slogan and poses. Uh-huh yep yep.
