Great news for folks in the US. Although the soundtrack I scratch my head at since the game did not exactly have that varied music which was one of the slight downsides of the game itself.
Great game though and fans of the SMT series will not be let down!
Funny, for some reason when "another role-playing game hitting in early March" was mentioned, my first thought was Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, even more appropriate because they're both on the DS.
Yes, I know Strange Journey is M-rated, but YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD FOR POKEMON.
@Andrew Wyatt: Especially even more appropriate since the SMT games directly inspired the mechanics of Pokemon, so your final statement is more true than ever.
@Andrew Wyatt: Just like that, yeah. Nah, the Daleks don't seem to get to him, just the Cybermen. He watched Dr. Who when he was a kid, for some reason they just stuck.
If an Atlus game weren't delayed, I wouldn't purchase it for fear it was a forgery.
Atlus is like my one true game addiction - I pretty much purchase whatever they put out just so that they have the funds to put out stuff like this :D I love SMT.
Boy I do love my terrible box art in triplicate! Also, I've never seen a DS game that came with an OST before, how strange. (Though I admit I'd have loved if TWEWY came with one)
@ThirzaLepidus: Dante_Ravenkin has it right, usually it's only the 1st batch that comes with the soundtrack, so a lot of times, by the time the games make it to the shelf, they no longer have the bonus.
@jayntampa: Ahh, so if I want a copy of the OST, I should pre-order now then. (Seeing as Atlus doesn't usually ship too many games in their first batches)
@excel_excel: Yeah, but where are our special editions? Only DDS2 had one, thanks to Ghostlight! Oh, Persona 4 also had the OST included (hurray for Square Enix!).
Bah, we NEED Atlus in Europe!
(BTW, I'm sure everyone has told you by now, but be a dear to yourself and import Demon's Souls! It's as good as everyone says! No, even better!)
The best thing is that it plays like a traditional Shin Megami Tensei title, too! I still need to pick up Devil Survivor. I'll get around to it once I finish getting the achievements in Last Remnant. :( #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: I don't know why you'd bother getting every achievement in Last Remnant. It's like a 700 hour sink hole and the only payoff is a boss fight that can just randomly kill you when it feels like it.
@Ueziel: See, that's EXACTLY why I want it. Also, I've been stat grinding. It's not fun, but at least I'm at the point where I can do 500K damage per round, which makes boss fights auto-pilot. #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
God, that box art is terrible. They really should've at least come up with a logo that looks a bit less...badly photoshopped.
No opinion whatsoever on the actual game though (it's a DS RPG, so I'm just going to shut up), just think the box art is really ugly. #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
Archaotic has made very valid arguments against the glut of JRPGs on the DS in the past. Personally I wouldn't take anything he's said as flamebait and nothing he said was argumentative. Maybe you need to chill out? #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
@Thorax: Again, the problem is just that it feels like a bad photoshop. There's no blending or effects to it, it just looks like someone hastily posted it in front of the image. #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
@Rebochan: Alright you're the one that sounds like you're looking for an argument now. Many people are fucking irked that there are so many RPGs on the DS and so few on next-gen consoles. I could elaborate, but I won't because, like Archaotic, I am sick of this argument that has been done to death.
You don't have to be a fanboy to be against something on a certain console. I love my DS, I play it all the time. I am sick of seeing some of my favorite devs dump so much of their time and resources into making portable RPGs with weak stories and shitty graphics instead of throwing the fans a god damn bone and giving us the epic experiences we've grown accustomed to playing on more powerful hardware on a TV.
Damn, I just elaborated way more than intended to =P

@bkchurch: Sounds to me like the complaint is about bad games on the DS. And the graphics complaints are just typical for this gen's so-called "core" gamers.
I'd love more console games, but right now, nobody's buying them. This is a business, not a charity. Maybe if FFXIII sells really well, there might be some interest in more console JRPGs. #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
I don't understand this. You claim others are looking to start an argument when they're trying to avoid one. Then you poke and prod and act annoying and start one yourself. When the other party explains their opinions you explain why they're not valid complaints.
No shit this industry isn't a charity. That doesn't mean I can't be annoyed by the lack of great titles in my favorite genre. The people of my state repealed the gay marriage law, that was passed last year, yesterday. I can't do shit about it right now but that doesn't mean I'm not entitled to be upset about it.
The complaint is not about bad games. I just don't like DS RPGs. RPGs have always been epic experiences for me that draw me into their world with cutting edge graphics, moving soundtracks, and believable worlds and characters. That is rarely delivered on the DS. Even when it is it isn't delivered in the same capacity that it could be on a home console.
It's like this: watching something like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings in a movie theater is an experience. Watching the same movie on my PSP's 4.3" screen with a set of low-end earbuds is a time killer. Playing the newest Final Fantasy, that took years of hard work and love to make, on my TV with surround sound is an experience. Playing a port of FFIV remade in terrible 3D graphics on my DS's 2.5" screen with it's shitty stereo speakers is not going to come close to matching that experience.
Last generation awesome RPGs were in overabundance on the PS2. It was an all you can eat buffet of fantastic games with pretty graphics, awesome soundtracks, well-told stories, and worlds that I wanted to wrap myself up in and no matter how hard you tried you could never get your fill. This generation we're still waiting for FFXIII and in the meantime the only worthwhile JRPG we've seen was Lost Odyssey.
I don't care if the DS is popular and makes companies boatloads of money. An RPG on the DS can never go toe to toe with an RPG on a home console. I'm not being a fanboy, I'm not being elitist. I just have high standards. #shinmegamitenseistrangejourney
@bkchurch: No, claiming that an RPG cannot deliver a good experience unless it is on a console with cutting edge graphics is the definition of elitist. FFIV's graphics at the time of release were rather low quality compared to what other console games were churning out. It wasn't really until the late 90s when Square got ahead on FMV cinematics that people started to *expect* good graphics and sweeping epics - and FF7 was still pretty far behind the graphical curve (it wasn't until VIII that the graphics were completely cutting edge).
RPGs are not limited to just pretty graphics. Refusing to play any game because it's not on a console is the definition of elitism and is extremely typical of the "core" right now.
To further your analogy, it would be like complaining that Firefly is terrible compared to Star Wars because the former is on television and not a film (and ignore Serenity for a second, okay?). Or that Doctor Horrible is incapable of telling a moving story about superheroes because it's distributed on the internet and cannot be "epic" like Spider-Man 3.
And my original point was that if anyone here didn't want to start an argument, you don't do it by saying "DS RPGs are terrible. But don't argue with me!" I mean, if I marched into another thread here and said "Sucky like all PS3 games, but I don't feel ike arguing," would I be anything *but* a troll? It's just being passive aggressive, while trying to divest oneself of responsibility.
@Rebochan: Nobody said anything about DS RPGs being terrible. Archaotic merely referenced his past comments on the subject in a passing and joking manner. You then got all up in his face about it (metaphorically speaking).
Again for someone claiming others are trying to be argumentative I find it ironic that you're the only one that actually is being argumentative. I have stated my opinion and backed it up, that is all. You're trying to tell me my opinion is either invalid or flawed, thus arguing.
This is fruitless and it's a conversation that's been beaten to death in the past and never gets anywhere. So with that I'm leaving this conversation. Good day sir.
Addendum: Just for the record I've enjoyed numerous DS RPGs (keyword: ENJOYED). That doesn't change the fact that none of them were very engrossing or high quality experiences.
