This guy is no gamer from what I hear so he is probably happy to retire. If I was in that position, you'd have to scrape my corpse out of the chair. I wouldn't leave.
Aw, it's too bad he's retiring and not the other assholes that ruin all of Microsoft's press conferences. Seriously, Don Mattrick and John Schappert are some of the fakest people on the planet.

Farewell, Shane Kim. May your successor fare as well and be worthy of the title "corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development for the Interactive Entertainment Business".
Imagine having to answer each time someone ask him what he does for a living.
@MCX405: I don't want a awesome title like that just to shorten it. Dammit the guy deserves respect! Each time he'd walk into a office we should welcome him using that long title till we get tired of it and retired his ass ourselves.
@MCX405: Seeing as how the CVP is such a VIP, they should keep the PC on the QT or it could leak to the VC and he could end up MIA, and we'll all get KP.
This is the downfall of Microsoft's game division. We haven't seen any new exclusives, and the older employees have shifted away. Zune the 360 will be replaced by one last chance before Microsoft pulls the plug.
@TickMan: New exclusives? L4D2, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2, Alan's Wake, Gay Tony, Halo 3 OSDT, Forza 3, Ninety-Nine Nights 2, Fable 3.
Admittedly they are going to face some stiff competition from Sony (who has a killer line-up this year and next) and Nintendo, but I wouldn't say they're done yet.
@Lezard: Errr...I treated the question as games being exclusive to a Microsoft platform rather than being built or produced by Microsoft. And if you're going to point that out, you might as well point out that Splinter Cell is being published by Ubisoft.
@NeVeRMoRe666:
L4D2- Not Exclusive
Splinter Cell - Not Exclusive
Mass Effect - Not Exclusive (Timed)
Alan's Wake - Exclusive
Gay Tony - Exclusive DLC
Halo 3 OSDT - Exclusive
Forza 3 - Exclusive
Ninety-Nine Nights 2 - Exclusive but predecessor was terrible
Fable 3 - Probably Exclusive
Your definition of exclusive is banal. Being on PC makes the game not exclusive to the 360. Most gamers own a PC, a wii and then either a 360 or a Ps3. If a game is on the PC then the PC/PS3/Wii crowd can also play it.
@kingmanic: He said a Microsoft exclusive, not a 360 exclusive. I assumed most people play with a Microsoft OS. Even still, who cares about PC :p I'm kidding of course!
And in what way was my definition "banal"? Maybe next time I'll try to find a way to spice it up for you; maybe I'll include a couple of go-go dancers or something.
As for Mass Effect 2 and Splinter sell, there hasn't been any news on it being not-exclusive as far as I know, unless I'm mistaken? Source?
@kingmanic: Bought a 360 for alan wake and lost planet 2 .. both which have a strong likelihood of coming to ps3(LP2) or pc(AW) L4d games shouldn't be bought on 360...that's like buying a classic german sportscar and buying it as an automatic(which i did, I'm just making fun of myself there).
@Ehardergardens: lol Now why would you go and do something like that?!?
What a waste!
As for Lost Planet 2, I think it has already been announced for the PS3 as well which was why I didn't include it with my initial list. And just so you know, the L4D community on the 360 is still pretty healthy, nothing compared to the PC of course, but there nonetheless :p Some of us just prefer console gaming (I have really bad wrist pains) and I just generally dislike being on the computer. It reminds me too much of work. I'm sure that's the same for a lot of people out there- not everyone wants to handle the rigors of playing on the PC. As for your car, well at least now you can relax when you drive (or hold hands with your best gal). I drive a stick and sometimes, it does get annoying particularly when I'm using the phone (I know, idiotic right?) but then again, I wouldn't have it any other way. Vroom Vroom!
@kingmanic: I know your trying your hardest to jump all over the lineup but that just makes you look like a fanboy. It's like if I commented on a PS3 exclusive list by going
MGS4 - big cut scene
Uncharted - 6 hours
Heavenly sword - 6 hours
Lair - crap
Genji - crap
LBP - for kids
It's dumb. And if you caught on the reason I'm using past games is because I'm not going to question exclusitivity when it's very likely anything can change (as we've seen with devil may cry, FF 13, Tales of vesperia, Virtua fighter, Ninja gaiden, Cross edge and others). Even if you don't like the games that doesn't mean anything as not all these games are for you. And second iterations can be a blessing sometimes as we've seen with KZ2 so give N3-2 a chance.
Anyway for the full list it goes:
Splinter cell
Alan wake
Halo 3 ODST
Halo reach
Forza 3
Gears 3
Ninety nine nights 2
Fable 3
Crackdown 2
Magna carta 2
With Mass effect 2, Kingdom under fire 2, Risen, Left 4 dead 2 etc. at least being console exclusive. So that's good enough for those who would prefer it on consoles at least even if you don't want it (don't assume what you want is what everyone wants as it makes you look a douche).
And if you think it's going to just stop at that then you've kind of jumped the gun delusionally. They always announce new stuff for all the consoles so just calm down and wait if you want more. Hell TGS is even close so maybe a surprise in there.
@kingmanic: A PC is not a console. Its commonly known that programming for the 360 and PC are virtually the same so its a no brainer that games made for the 360 also get sent to the PC.(or vice versa)
Thats simply not the case for the PS3 and the Wii.
If the game isn't going to the PS3 or Wii its a 360 exclusive. People like you who split hairs in order to skew the whole exclusives argument are a bit lame.
@Desolation_Angel: I don't mind so much when they have a high spec PC (but even then they shouldn't assume everyone does) but when they also try and insult stuff and write off games as not exclusive just because they don't want then (like ninety nine nights 2) that just screams stupidity.
@xxXX_Insanities_Birth_XXxx: Lol. I hope you guys know I was joking. I was just preaching about a false Apocalypse for Microsoft. Or is it?!!! DUH DUH DUHHHHH!!!
I have no problem with the 360 being a low end, but overprice couch PC alternative for certain games. That's why I bought an original Xbox, because I didn't have a computer strong enough to play Doom 3 or Far Cry.
@TickMan: I was talking about king manic actually as he was the one trying to discount N2 (which I even put as the example and it didn't relate to you so no idea why you think we're talking to you other than you bein OP).
Trolls will be trolls I guess. But £200 is over priced? For what you get it's a very good price just like all the consoles and PC.
@Curse lily: Wait till Shigeru Miyamoto announces his retirement.. in fact, I don't think Nintendo will even allow him to retire.. even death won't stop them.
Bam- Nintendo's secret project is using all the money they've amassed to find a way to keep Miyamoto alive forever. Thus no big releases this half of the year.
After the whole Kindle thing I'm very hesitant about any kind of download-only purchases. Will I find my downloaded copy awol once, say, a higher cost deluxe edition is released?
I'm stuck with the fucking 15 GB drive that's filled with 13 gigs of Rock Band DLC. I have to upgrade, but the thought of downloading 300+ songs again makes me want to die.
@Strangelove: If you do upgrade, the larger HDD comes with a transfer kit to move everything from your existing drive. The transfer isn't THAT much faster than download if you have high-speed internet, but it's a one-button operation and you can walk away for a while. I upgraded to the 120GB HDD last year and the transfer was pretty painless.
Wow, he could work for Sonic Team with those excuses. Doesn't there seem to be a 'Boo hoo, we'd have to work too hard' excuses at the moment? If they're offering old games too I'd hope they'd be cheap, as I can get both Kameo and the Collectors Edition of Perfect Dark for about £5 ($8 US) used here.
I do not agree with that "excuse" at all. Even as a sort of Blu-ray advocate, after picking up a netflix subscription and doing some HD streaming on the Xbox, I can say in confidence the digital distribution really is the future. Unfortunately there's a few road blocks. Net connections need to be faster and much more stable (I'm looking at you comcast). Bigger and more troublesome than connections however is there so many people who stand to lose something from the transition who do all they can to stifle digital distribution's growth. Until content providers, brick-and-mortar, ISPs who feel "unlimited" internet plans should have limits, and all the others who stand to lose out on it learn to adapt, we as the consumer will continue to be the ones who will lose out. This is why I don't think we'll see the end of physical media in quite some time; probably longer than the 5 years that some anylists have perdicted. I see Netflix and On-demand services as a step in the right direction toward offering a solution that's even better then piracy, but without the content and the day-one availability, they will continue to be second best with an added cost of course.
