There are few places on earth that will let a man punch a woman in the face like this and avoid the strong arm of the law.

<![CDATA[Super Street Fighter IV Confirmed, Is Standalone Title]]> Capcom today have announced Super Street Fighter IV, a new, standalone title which is Street Fighter IV with eight new characters added and some tweaks made based on community feedback.

Of the eight characters, three have been announced: classic characters T. Hawk and Dee Jay (Dee Jay's reveal coming in the latest issue of Famitsu, below), and newcomer Juri. The rest could be anyone; new characters, old favourites, a mix of the two. We have no idea!

In terms of improvements to the game itself, producer Yoshinori Ono says that every character has been changed slightly based on comments from both players and the dev team, while an improved online experience is also promised.

Which begs the question: why an all-new title, and not just a range of DLC? Ono says the changes are so extensive that they couldn't just be tacked on, so a disc release was necessary. Those crying "RIP OFF" should know that the game "won't be sold at full price", and that those owning both the original and Super will are in store for an as-yet-unspecified treat.

It's due in Spring 2010 for the PS3 and 360. We'll ask what's up with the PC version.

<![CDATA[Street Fighter IV Getting "New Warrior"]]> Capcom US said information on a possible Street Fighter IV update was coming "mebbe Monday". Looks like they were a little off.

A teaser website has appeared on Capcom's Japanese portal, with the site's URL seemingly promising a "new warrior" while the site itself gives the date 2009.09.29 17:00 JST, presumably for said warrior's reveal. That's Tuesday, September 29, at 5pm Japan time, if you need to set a clock.

<![CDATA[Pencils Out For This Street Fighter IV Concept Art]]> With the game now out, there's not as much work for the Street Fighter IV dev team to do over on the game's official blog. So they've decided to start posting some concept art instead.

Proper concept art, too, with pencils and sketchbooks and everything. Very nice stuff. Wish more developers did this, instead of releasing "target renders" and whatnot.

<![CDATA[Handmade SFIV Sticks Don't Skimp On The Heavy Stuff]]> Mekishiko916 likes Street Fighter, and is handy with circuits and a soldering iron. Combining those two, he's come up with these amazing hand-made arcade sticks that aren't just heavy-duty, they're wireless as well.

Being a patriot, he eschews Japanese components in favour of American HAPP parts (though you can ask for Seimetsu/Sanwa parts if you're picky), and there are two variants available, a Ryu and an Akuma.

The sticks are for the 360, and include a rechargeable pack that can be juiced from your console's USB port. And finally, for that extra touch of old-school authenticity, he's measured the exact dimensions of the button layout from the old SFII arcade cabinets and replicated them on the surface of these sticks.

Being hand-made, they're not cheap, with both going for $190. But hey, for a hand-made, wireless controller, that's not too bad.

<![CDATA[Capcom: SFIV Seth And Sagat A Tad Overpowered]]> The assistant producer of the arcade version of Capcom's Street Fighter IV has given fans of the game the ultimate excuse for failing, admitting that characters Seth and Sagat might be a bit too powerful.

I've never cursed so much in my life as I did trying to unlock characters in Street Fighter IV, stumbling over Seth countless times before getting in that one lucky round, and in the hands of an even slightly skilled player? Forget about it. Now I don't feel quite so bad, thanks to assistant producer Ryota Mitsuma.

"Yes, Seth and perhaps Sagat might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected."

Mitsuma delivered that choice tidbit during an interview with VideoGamer.com, and while I could simply end the article right here and hold on to my warm fuzzies, there was a bit more to it than that.

"A good player of another character can always beat a good Sagat player or a good Seth player," he said. "I don't think it's too out of proportion, but we do acknowledge that they turned out a bit more powerful than we expected."

I'm just going to selectively block out that part right there.

<![CDATA[Street Fighter IV PC This Summer, Possibly Bundled With Sticks]]> PC gamers eager to get their hands on Capcom's Street Fighter IV will have to wait until this summer, with Capcom pondering the possibility of bundling the game with arcade controllers at retail.

Capcom vice president of business development and strategic planning Christian Svensson, speaking to VideoGamer.com, names summer as the target release date for the PC version of the fourth game in their venerable fighting franchise, while revealing plans to possibly deliver the game to store shelves bundled together with Mad Catz's highly sought-after arcade controllers.

"We rolled out our Mad Catz sticks and pads, and the interesting thing to note about all of those sticks and pads is they all work with PC as well. We may, and I'm in talks with Mad Catz to figure out how can we actually do some bundles of pads and Street Fighter IV PC."

Hopefully the damn sticks will actually be available once the summer rolls around.

<![CDATA[Street Fighter IV: 2 Million Shipped]]> Mostly-impressive press release from Capcom Japan just arrived. Street Fighter IV is out, and they're excited to let us know that they've shipped two million copies of the game.

That doesn't mean two million copies have been sold through to a customer, it just means two million copies have been shipped from Capcom's warehouses. Though with the popularity of the franchise and the hype surrounding the first proper entry in the series for over a decade, we'd imagine the vast majority of those two million games are already spinning in a disc drive somewhere on God's green earth.

<![CDATA[Street Fighter IV Arcade In The US? Who Knows. Australia, Singapore? Maybe!]]> Street Fighter IV won't be officially released in US arcades. But that doesn't mean it won't be released anywhere outside Japan. Take Australia, for example. Or Korea, or Singapore. It might come out there!

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has revealed that while the game won't be may not be shipped to the US thanks to a market "on the decline", there are other markets in the Asia-Pacific area region that Capcom are looking at.

Actually, there is quite a bit more demand [for SFIV] in Asia and Oceania than there is in North America. To be honest, the video arcade culture in North America is on the decline. There are not that many venues left for arcade video games any more.

We have seen that there is a lot of value in the markets of Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, as well as some other markets.

So USA, no, Singapore, yes? Kooky.

<![CDATA[Street Fighter IV Battle Pits Capcom Against Microsoft Against Sony]]> It's like something out of a fanboy fantasy land. At next year's CES, there will be a Street Fighter IV tournament. In which Capcom, Microsoft and Sony will select champions, then do battle.

For real. They will fight, you will take sides, shit will get real.

Each publisher's community leader - Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb for Microsoft, Jeff Rubenstein for Sony and Seth Killian for Capcom - will be there, and they'll be leading teams of 20 (with contestants drawn from people like you) in a three-way festival of dick-swinging, name-taking and all around shit-talkery.

CES is due to take place January 8-11 in Vegas. Further details on how you sign up for this apocalyptic event to come.

<![CDATA[Euro SFIV Collectors Edition Boxes Detailed]]> Capcom Europe has dropped details on the limited Collectors Edition Box sets for Street Fighter IV that European and Australian fans will be able to get their hands on come February 20th.

The boxes themselves are rather attractive in their own right, featuring a classic Street Fighter scene on the outer case. Inside players will discover a set of limited edition figurines representing Street Fighters past and present, with fan-favorite Ryu joined by the ridiculously busty newcomer, Crimson Viper. Along with the toys, Capcom is also including a bonus disc containing a selection of trailers and a full-length anime movie specially created for the launch of the game. Icing the cake is a mini strategy guide for the four new characters and the promise of exclusive downloadable content.

Here's hoping we see something similar stateside, though I doubt my fireplace mantle is big enough to host both Crimson Viper AND her breasts. Hit the jump for the Xbox 360 version of the Collectors Edition.

<![CDATA[TV Ad Sakura Is Way Younger Than In-Game Sakura]]> That's female Japanese "talent" Hikari Takada. She's doing the ads for SFIV. "It's was my first TV commercial shoot, and it was tough, but also fun. I really hope everyone enjoys the ad."

If you think she looks like she's 12, that's because she actually is 12 — making her four years younger than the game's 16-year-old Sakura. Click through the gallery below, which includes a pic with producer Yoshinori Ono. Now there's someone who doesn't look 12.

<![CDATA[Complete Street Fighter IV Character Roster Revealed?]]> An eagle-eyed Belgian gamer at the N.E.X.T. games expo took a pic of what is probably the character select screen from Street Fighter IV's console version.

Unless it isn't. Internets is internets, after all.

Assuming it is legit though, there are at least 26 playable characters - all the usual gang of Blanka, Chun Li, Zangief et al plus returning favourites like Gouken. There is some speculation that Rose from Street Fighter Alpha is lurking demurely on the bottom row.

<![CDATA[Chun-Li Invites You To "Hit It Again For the First Time"]]> Capcom's gone dizzy for and silly for slogans. <![CDATA[Street Fighter IV Coming To US Consoles 'This Winter' Says Yoshi Ono]]> Street Fighter IV Arcade is like a bowl of cherries - only the bowl is only available in Japan and you have to pay $$$ to illegally import the cherries. Then you have to solder the cherries to, er, a different bowl and they may not work and, er, taste wrong.

Look, just forget about the cherries! Soon, you will be able to play Street Fighter IV in the comfort of your own home and employ the soft fruit similes of your choice.

Street Fighter IV producer Yoshi Ono has revealed in an X-Play interview that not only is the the console and PC version of the game coming very soon, it will also save money on your household energy bills.

"We don't want to start rumors that it's this year, but definitely this winter. At some point you'll be sitting in you winter coat looking at snow out the window…and right then we'll kind of heat you up a little with some hot street fighter action so look forward to that"

So, no firm date as yet but plenty of reason to start saving your pennies.

<![CDATA[Sakura's Knickers Kick Ken's Face In New SFIV Screens]]> The big Street Fighter-related surprise from TGS last week was the inclusion of Sakura. Surprising in that they announced her, and not Cammy, who they must be holding for the Christmas news cycle. Anyway, Crecente tried out the new, improved, slightly-older Sakura last week and had a blast. You, though, you can't use her just yet, so why not pass the time with these new screens.

<![CDATA[A New Street Fighter IV Trailer Has A Little Bit of Everything]]>
Face it, TGS is like a huge magnet when it comes to attracting great trailers. So when it came time for Street Fighter IV to take the stage it was no surprise that the trailer wasn't anything less than awesome. There's all sort of eye candy in this one from gameplay footage to the brush art sequences we've come to know and love. Or maybe you're into Street Fighter anime, no problem it's got that too. So don't feel bad if you want to stick around for repeated viewings.

<![CDATA[Here Are Your New Street Fighter IV Screens]]>
Where there's a will, there's certainly a way to play Street Fighter IV. Some lucky folks may be able to find an arcade around their area. You can head over to Japan like Crecente and crew and get beaten by someone who probably hasn't left the arcade since the game came out. Or you can spend thousands of dollars and rig up a Taito Type X2 to your TV. However, for us in North America, our options at this point are at best, limited. So while we wait anxiously for our console release next year, enjoy these screens.

You'd think "Street Fighter III", but you're so wrong. Here's what's happened. In slick, anime form. No idea what's being said by the voice-over guy, so go ahead and use your imagination (THIS SUMMER...), but there's some kicking and punching towards the end that speaks a more universal language.

<![CDATA[Want To Fight Ken and Ryu's Master? Here's How]]> Gouken, known for teaching Ken and Ryu, is making an appearance in Street Fighter IV as a computer-controlled challenger. Today, the game's official blog offers details on how to face off against this opponent, things like: do not use any continues, do not lose the first round in any fight and get a certain number of "perfects" depending on what the machine is set to. Easier said than done. But who said this was going to be easy?
