In these heady days of Skyrim, Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, have we overlooked a hidden gem in Serious Sam 3: BFE? Commenter DocSeuss seems to think so, and he'll tell you all about it in today's Speak Up on Kotaku.
I've played quite a bit of the latest entry in Croteam's twitchtastic first-person shooter series, but I never encountered the super-speedy giant unkillable pink spider creature in the first level. Know why? Because my copy isn't pirated.
And you thought there weren't any more games coming out before Christmas. Croteam has unleashed Serious Sam 3: BFE upon the somewhat suspicious PC gaming masses, flipping the bird at today's more technical shooters in favor of old school shooting shit all to hell.
Originally scheduled for release in the middle of next month to compete with Battlefield 3, the third installment of Croteam's less-than-serious PC shooter franchise will now hit in mid-November, just in time to take on Modern Warfare 3.
No fan of Origin, Electronic Arts' new digital distribution service, the publisher of Serious Sam 3: BFE [pictured] announced "in a move likely to shock absolutely no one" that they have scrapped plans for their own proprietary service.
And here I thought the headless kamikaze's in the Serious Sam series were unwilling test subjects. Turns out they're normal folk, just like you and me, only without heads. Oh, and their hands are bombs.
The first trailer for Croteam and Devolver Digital's Serious Sam 3: BFE has exactly what you'd expect from a Serious Sam game: guns a-blazin', alien invaders, screen splattering gore and a total disregard for taking cover.
Lacking any meat above the neckline and hands replaced with ticking time bombs, the headless kamikaze of Serious Sam fame has come a long way over the past decade.
Make the next Serious Sam game official. Developer Croteam is bringing the next entry, Serious Sam 3: BFE, to PC and consoles this summer, a "glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters," they say.
Here's your first look at Serious Sam 3. Not much of a look, but then, first looks rarely are!
