@FP_slomo788: Ok slomo, I'll bite. The "user-generated era" is actually evidence of the creaky beginning, the kicks in the womb, the antique preamble of an entirely new epoch in which all conscious beings become inextricably, profoundly connected and share all subsequent thought instantaneously.
@Mega-Driven: I think both of you missed the SNL reference...or maybe I misconstrued it as such. Either way, the human consciousness is neither conscious nor human...discuss!
@P45K4L: One could argue that the game was actually the catalyst to providing him with some forced motivation to tap a little deeper into his overall potential, hence Giant Bomb.
Sometimes you don't need a push...you need a pink slip. ;)
I felt the first was a fun afternoon's worth of entertainment. Nothing great, definitely not as shitty as some claimed, but obviously not something to come back to or truly remember.
The characters carried it though. The interaction between Kane and Lynch was fascinating and it seemed the story may have been going somewhere, but it completely sputtered out and become incredibly boring. Especially the moment you hit Cuba, the game just lost all sense of itself.
The early set pieces like the doughnut shop shootout, the night club, bank heist, prison break-in (still a novel idea) and business building level were all fairly enjoyable and showed promise. However the game did have some pretty big flaws that prevented it from being anything other than mediocre.
Hopefully IO can step it up like they have in the past and deliver on what they promised. Particularly in light of new Eidos ownership and leadership. That company's made some decent strides since the last game.

Hello, it's Keir from Eido... I mean Square Enix Europe here. Kane & Lynch 2 will be released on the Eidos label, so it'll be front of box and you'll have an Eidos splash screen. (It'll be the same for all the IP you'd traditionally associate with Eidos).
Loved the original STALKER, but Clear Sky is such a poorly coded, bug-addled, slow-running even on a monster rig mess that I'm done with the STALKER series unless I hear they've cleaned up their act (and engine code).
@TarnishedReputation: I know man, that one scene in the tunnels? Pure terror. I was panicking! I was shooting it, but it wasn't going down, I literally felt cornered, so I charged it and died, instead of going up the ladder.
@-MasterDex-: If you didn't really enjoy the first one then there's probably not much more you would enjoy in the prequel. There are some interface changes like being able to heavily modify equipment, but Clear Sky generally feels about the same as the first one and is shorter.
Don't get me wrong, I loved both of them and can't wait for Pripyat.
@-MasterDex-: I enjoyed SOC a lot once the modders had fixed it up, but Clear Sky I never did like and never finished. In fact I gave the game away to a mate, I hated it that much. They really destroyed the atmosphere from the first game.
I absolutely loved the original and still need to finish Clear Sky. I'll be sure to pick up Pripyat when it comes out. I feel like the STALKER games are two of the most underrated in recent history. Fallout 3, as good and immersive as it is, has got nothing on Shadows of Chernobyl when it comes to atmosphere. And this is coming from someone who was born and raised in DC.
GSC ships early but they always give after launch support and lots of patches and the games themselves are really fun and, yes atmospheric. They're just damn good survival shooter games, in my honest opinion. I've enjoyed both STALKERS previously and will buy this one as well.

Although at first I thought he was getting attacked by the roaming Gnome.
I guess that would have been pretty flippin scary too, now that I think about it.
