The fixed version is now available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace. Anyone who has previously downloaded the title and experience issues playing online should delete their old install and re-download the product. I don't envy those who went through this trying ordeal. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

<![CDATA[Sensible Soccer Comes To, Quickly Leaves XBLA]]> This week's Xbox Live Arcade release of Sensible World of Soccer, which certainly seems to have been a long time in the making at Codemasters, has been pulled from Marketplace, as many of its users have reported problems playing while connected to Live. Microsoft has given SWOS the boot and plans to resupply the download as soon as the bugs are ironed out. Details on cause and progress have been fairly light from Codemasters and Microsoft spokesfolk, but blogger Larry Hryb tells those who have already downloaded the "busted" version to delete and redownload when the fix arrives.

We'll make sure to pass on word so "football" fans can get their kicks online as soon as possible.

<![CDATA[Tempest Joins Sensible Soccer On XBLA This Wednesday]]> This week's Xbox Live Arcade releases include the oft-discussed remake of Sensible World of Soccer from developer Kuju and the seemingly never-discussed update of Tempest. Sensible World of Soccer features standard classic and enhanced graphics modes plus online play for two players. Tempest comes to us courtesy of Stainless Games, developers of the recently released Asteroids for XBLA, as well as many other Atari remakes. (Say, these guys are doing a Warlords update for Live? Awesome!)

Both titles should hit early Wednesday morning. Tempest is 400 Microsoft Points, with SWOS ringing in at 800. I know what Luke Plunkett's buying this week!

But I know many of you out there have been anxiously awaiting NiGHTS and non next-gen adopting PS2 owners will get a chance to experience the awesomeness of Rock Band. I'm kind of curious to check out the Atari Classics Evolved for the PSP just to see what they did with them. Could be kind of interesting. So, is anyone going to be picking any of these up for their post-holiday game time?

<![CDATA[XBLA Sensible World Of Soccer Dated]]> Merry Christmas, old-school soccer gaming fans! A post over at the Codemasters Community Forums has confirmed that the remake of the classic Amiga (now there's a machine) sports title, announced way back in September of 2006, will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade on the 19th of December, just in time for the long holiday. The game features both a classic mode as well as an enhanced, prettier version, along with online multiplayer that has fans of the original quietly doing unnatural things to themselves in anticipation. For me, SWOS marks the sweet spot of soccer video gaming, with just enough soccer to be recognizable without all the complicated bits from later footie games that confuse my poor American mind. In short, hooray!

<![CDATA[Doom Is Live on Xbox Live Now]]>

As you read this the original Doom, that's right the original DOOM should be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points.

Don't freak if it isn't there when you check, Microsoft said they weren't sure if it would be up during or right after their X06 press conference today. But it will be today.

The game includes both single-player and two-to-four player co-op and deathmatch modes over Xbox Live.

The game will support teh deathmatch and coop play both on Live and in four-player split screen mode. I think I just wet myself.

Microsoft also announced that Codemasters will be bringing the classic 1994 Amiga game Sensible World of Soccer to Live.

Two additions to Xbox Live Arcade were announced: the first-person shooter that pioneered the network-gaming era, "DOOM ," from acclaimed developer id Software and Activision, is available today for download via Xbox Live Arcade. The hey game includes the original four-episode, single-player game, four-player split screen (cooperative and deathmatch) and four-player cooperative and deathmatch over Xbox Live. Also coming to Xbox Live Arcade soon is "Sensible World of Soccer" from Codemasters. Based on the classic 1994 Amiga title, "Sensible World of Soccer" will let gamers choose between the original graphics or an updated, high-resolution look and feel — while still capturing the original's entire world of football.
