At least they didn't send him a piece of amber, a drill and the keys to a genetics lab.

Spectrobes did something similar when they were sending copies to press, if I remember correctly. I particularly enjoyed the way one IGN editor dealt with it (seen above).

(Edit: I guess gifs don't animate in the comments section. Click the pic above for full enjoyment.)

I'd probably have just kept the rock. THat's going to be worth a ton of cash in about 20 years.

Nintendo is trying to move in on Spectrobes' territory, I see. The games are pretty much identical (find fossils, resurrect them, pit them against one another), and Spectrobes has actually been rather successful for Disney Interactive.

    Cool promotion, nonetheless.

For anyone that's a parent, they will recognize the way Fossil Fighters was packaged was just about equally tough to open as most other kids toys these days.
Some of these toys have that murderously sharp clamshell plastic, then they are bolted to the cardboard inner shell with real screws and/or 6-8 twist ties.

@depward: It makes the blogger take notice. Note, Nintendo didn't only get an article about this game, they got a whole video. That's pretty cheap advertising really.
