You could make the most amazing look game ever, but if it doesnt look good, then no way in hell am i wasting money on it. There are too many good online games with good graphics available to waste time playing a game with hit/miss gameplay and shoddy graphics. This is especially surprising since MGS4 (single player) has great graphics.

I fail to see how the graphics in MGO are any different than MGS4, anyway. They're practically using the same exact models. Hell, THEY ARE using the same exact models. I also fail to see how MGO is hit/miss, I've never logged onto MGO and not had a good time, with the exception of the times I was using a very shoddy connection.
If you like Counter-Strike, there is no reason you shouldn't like MGO. They feel damn identical to me.

Anyway, I don't feel this game needs trophies. The only real reason for trophies is to give a game more replay value, and I'd say MGO has plenty of that already.

It's just whichever you're used to. I dont care about achievements (I've gotten probably only about 50 cos I never try to get them), while I have over 800 trophies and even play crap games (atm I'm playing lotr conquest, one of worst ps3 games I've played yet) to get them. I think it's cos I was there for when trophies came out and it was rather special when only a few games had them. On 360 everyone already had a bazillion gamerscore so it was too daunting to start caring about them. But I agree with you about achievements being better, it's ridiculous how little trophy functionality there is, and the platinum trophy is stupid, it offsets all your percentages so you can never get more than 82% it goes straight to 100%, I basically just try to get 40%, have done so in 29/30 of the games I have trophies in :D.

I mean, seriously, when you choose Alone In The Dark and X-Blades over Valkyria Chronicles and Metal Gear Solid 4, something is seriously messed up with your priorities.
@excel_excel: The only way I'd like to see trophies in this game is if they're all bronze and there is no platinum for collecting the all. The trophies should obviously be the animal ranks, but I don't want the platinum specifically because it'll cause people to play the game in a way they don't want to.
This is a problem I have was both Warhawk and GTA4; trying to obtain the multiplayer trophies sucks hundreds of hours away from your life that you could be using to just have fun with the game.

I'm not sure how much of that Pyramid Head lore I believe, though. It sounds suspiciously like it was retconned for the movie.

And even if there is a mythological basis for Pyramid Head, it was the fact that James had knowledge of this mythology that they existed. Otherwise, we'd be talking about Cthulu head or something.

I don't have any of the xpacs, though. is anyone out there still playing this game? and how do people think it sizes up against stuff like CoD and Killzone 2? The trailer is definitely piquing my interest...

Now that I have my own personal router, I have a lot more fun. Before that, I was using the public router owned by the university, which would only give me a 40% strength rating on good days. I suddenly went from being a pigeon to being a water bear, which is quite a step up.
