CC has noone to blame but themselves. They advertise cool DVD, Music, and Game sales, you go in, and they NEVER HAVE ANYTHING IN STOCK ADVERTISED ... and they claim they havnt had it in a LONG TIME. So they advertise deals they cant sell but to a handful of people.

Not really that shocking, CC has always been higher priced, rivaled only by Radio Shack when it comes to overcharging. Their Gamers Advantage Club saves you a meager 10% which sometimes fails to bring the price of games down to what they cost down the road at BB, GS and Wal-mart and their fiddling around with the 'zones' to pretty much remove the idea of having employees who know what the hell they are talking about in one area and instead make one employee have to cover the whole store (Bad idea) even if they know dick about TV's, but know shitloads about video games. Their POS systems need a updating and the massive purge of employees who knew and loved their job to replace them with lower cost employees who would not even have the chance to learn from the old hats led to customers getting pissed off and more bloodshed.

I don't see them going Chapter 7 because if things were really that bad, they wouldn't be bringing on hoilday people but instead simply boost the hours of the current hires and have shaft at lower traffic stores shift to higher traffic ones, but I do see Chapter 11 or 13 coming. More employees will likely end up out of work, but the bonus is that if done properly, it might take 3-5 years but CC can come back stronger and more viable then ever.

CC's been around a very long time. I'd expect to see Radio Shack go under before them and I doubt they will.

Sad news for CC. I don't have ill feelings towards them, because when it comes down to it, both Circuit City and Best Buy are bad. It's pretty funny that the first thought that goes through my head when I think of Circuit City is that they never seem to have the stuff they advertise, especially video games and its accessories.

Then again, Best Buy doesn't leave me with exactly the "best" impressions either. I can't help but think about all the horrific experiences I've had with them.

@mash25:There is a distinct possibility that it was the reason. This story should have rumour smashed all over it, with the company in a precarious situation, you don't want to represent them as facts unless you have confirmed sources.

Anonymous insider (read Hedge Fund short seller) doesn't cut it.
