Circuit City just have terrible employee's and merchandising. If they kept up on their game, they would have more business. Best Buy does a couple of things they do extremely well. Employee's are dedicated to their jobs, and BB can keep them happy. That means more work will get done, and they feel that they CAN and WILL help customers with their needs. Now as far as ordering a TV over Amazon.com, to be honest, Id go to bb and check out their doorbusters. I work for Best Buy and their are some deals that id take FULL advantage of if I could. I remember when I used to work in a store, when we ran out of one 46 inch tv, we had lots of customers complaining so we gave them a BETTER tv for the same price. Love them or hate em, BB is here to stay. They just opened stores up in Puerto Rico, and China, They just bought carphone warehouse in Europe with plans to expand there...no slowing down.

So as a current employee of CC.. there aqre a few things I would like to address. 1) I don't neccessarily have pride in the company, but I do have faith in the people in my store. The delivery problem is caused from the distribution center in PA, but the only product that caused any worry were Wii fits weren't going to be in for the advertised date. Included in that 155 stores are a lot of Outlet stores, which are normally old stores that changed when a new one opened up close by.

Again I don't really take pride in the company and sometimes I hate it for dumb decision's that the higher ups make. I do not make commission. I could careless if I sell anything to you. I work there because I like to talk about the things we sell. Honestly the worst part about working there are customers. The ones who come in on a Saturday and complain about being out of stock on sale items... or they didn't get there soon enough. You should have come earlier. We can get you your product in 4-10 days sent to your house or the store itself. It is not my fault you waited until an hour before (sometimes during) a birthday to get a gift. We just cant do it for games music and movies. If those are sold out, they normally are everywhere.

Part rant part explanation. Thanks for listening.

The one time I ever shopped in a Circuit City, I was in awe at the insanely huge number of games they had. Rows upon rows upon rows of games. I got Soulcalibur 2 and Super monkey ball for $15 each. Of course, this was about 4 years ago. I guess they became sucky since then.

This is bad news to me simply because Best Buy would have no direct competitors. Best Buy is the only place you can find the most games, the best brands(not the budget stuff Target and Walmart sell) and if CC were to go out I worry about price increases on Best Buy's part across the board.

CC has noone to blame but themselves. They advertise cool DVD, Music, and Game sales, you go in, and they NEVER HAVE ANYTHING IN STOCK ADVERTISED ... and they claim they havnt had it in a LONG TIME. So they advertise deals they cant sell but to a handful of people.

ahhh, that explains things. i went to the circuit city near me recently to try to pick up little big planet. they didn't have it and claimed that for some reason sony hadn't released it yet.

The one CC in my town closed a number of years ago. Good riddance, bad rubbish, etc. I used to work there, right up until I was fired for "stealing," which of course I didn't do. (Day from hell for a panicky, newly 18 y/o at the time) Shortly thereafter the store manager was fired for theft.

I've heard the current stock is under $1, which amuses me to no end.

As for BB having no competition without CC, there's walmart, amazon, target, etc. And I just recently managed to get a 46" Bravia Z series from a store called Nebraska Furniture Mart for a good $800 less than what BB wanted.

I used to hate CC during the whole Divx thing, then I was merely indifferent. But I did get a deal from them on my Samsung LED based DLP TV so they're OK.

I see they no longer carry the LED sets though so I wonder if Samsung started cutting them off too...

A brand new one opened in my area, but their knowledge and supply stock FAILS in comparison to Best Buy across the road, or Fry's about a mile down.

I work for circuit city currently. This story is rumor. The real story is the bit about the sinkhole closing a distribution center. I just left work, we got a truck full of sony merch today, and one yesterday too.

Circuit City is going under fast, a few months ago Blockbuster (where I work BTW) was thinking of buying CC in the hopes that it would help bridge the gap and transform BB into the new media entertainment destination it wants to be, but BB pulled out after seeing the horrid state that CC was in. Blockbuster is now executing this company wide philosophy change itself, it's pretty bad when a company decides that two heads are not better then one after they look at another companies financial standing. :)
