Well, I always say more story is good, so I'm interested to see how this turns out. Provided these are well-written and well-done, and as long as Ezio is actually a likeable character (unlike Altair and Desmond), these could definitely be worth watching. I'll keep an eye out.
@Archaotic: if your definition of 'well-written and well-done' only includes naratives where the main character is 'likeable' then it is extreamly limited.
@tetracycloide: Assassin's Creed was badly written AND featured a repulsively assholish main character who was impossible to relate to on any human level.
Seriously, it's not hard to make a character more human, relatable or likeable than Altair. He was that much of a dick.
@Archaotic: well it's clear you didn't enjoy the narrative or main character of assassin's creed but the point still stands that a main character need not be 'likeable' for the story itself to be well written.
@tetracycloide: Absolutely true. But it does help for them to be likable, or at least relatable, to the person experiencing the game.
What good is a game if the characters aren't compelling, the storyline itself is uninteresting, and the gameplay is mindbendingly repetitive?
I'm not saying AC2 is doomed to this same fate, I actually think Ubisoft will be improving on a lot of the original game's shortcomings, but AC1 was a fatally flawed game in many aspects that sold mainly on its graphics and hype.
@Archaotic: i don't think it helps at all, really. if the writting is good it is good reguardless of how you or anyone else feels about the main character.
it's also important not to forget that the motion capture in assassin's creed was and is a shining example to the rest of the industry reguardless of how well the game was written or how repetitive the gameplay was.
I find it funny how games keep doing these multimedia spreadouts of their core story. Look games have come a long way but the stories theyre telling are not in any shape new or very different from one another. Most games involve a lead who is either caring a gun, weilding weapons, or generally solving HIS problems by killing. That doesnt leave much room for creative freedom. The story in a game is generally its thinest part save for a few cases, where they serve as the exceptions that prove the rule. Most times the gameplay takes front seat, as it should considering the medium, and the story if good is "icing on the cake". Dont spread that icing too thin folks.
This is a pretty cool model. Give me story info while getting me hyped for the game so I don't have to sit through needless cutscenes when it comes out. If it works out I hope we can see more of this for other games.

@Ursus-Veritas: I believe it generally is the time period between Thanksgiving and the New Year where a whole bunch of different holidays are celebrated.
@jojozap30: Thanks. For a moment I was hoping there was an imaginary holiday coming up very soon or something so we would get these vids sooner rather than later, they sound quite intriguing.
@jojozap30: The game will be out by then, whats the point in announcing this?, anyone who cares of knowing the story of the game before playing will have the game already.
@Piccoroz: It's probably just to keep this game on people's minds.
With big names in games coming out with already huge fan bases (MW2, Halo: ODST, etc.) Assassin's Creed may not be the first game that comes to mind when people think of what to buy this upcoming season I know it isn't for me.
Basically, keeping the hype up will probably be good for sales.
With WoW being dull as day-old donuts now and Warhammer collapsing on itself Bioware could have had a May/June release date all to themselves and made a huge killing in total sales with the PC version.
Instead they are opting to join 30+ other titles trying to cram into a 2 week period and are risking getting lost in the crowd.
I cannot be more hyped up for this game. The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate? Better hope it is Bioware! Dark and Mature? Better hope it is Bioware! Raunchy and Violent? Better hope it is Bioware.
Because if it's not...well, by golly, I'll write you a very scathing letter!
Am I the only one who thought Bioware was focusing on the PC release, and that the console versions would be coming out later, possibly quite a bit later? This is great news. I won't be able to preview, but then it's Bioware. So I'm good.
@buddhathing: I think they delayed the PC version from earlier this year to the fall so it would come out the same time as the console versions, for some reason.
@-MasterDex-: Or maybe they don't want to deal with the possibility of poor sales on PC due to the possibility of the game not living up to it's title as spiritual successor to BG. Profit can be maximised by releasing it to audiences that don't even know what BG is, being marketed "from the developers of Mass Effect".
@Soul Cat Lives!: This is far from Mass Effect in medieval times. If you're going to compare it to anything, you'd have to compare it to Baldurs Gate, If you haven't played it, you really should, one of the ebst RPG's I've ever had the joy of completing and after that, go play Baldurs Gate 2.
@kyosen: Granted I don't expect it to break the amazing boundary with its first release, seeing as how it was BG2 that solidified the BG series as a legendary RPG, the original BG was a bug-ridden mess with a questionable questing system.
Bug ridden mess? Wow. I bought BG the day it came out and played it with zero frustration at any bugs I might have encountered. In fact, I don't even recall any bugs. Sure there may have been some, but to call it bug ridden pretty much convinces me that you never played it and have no freaking idea what you are talking about.
@sigma7: Wait what? You dare question me about my knowledge of the BG series?
But seriously are we playing the same game? try playing vanilla (without any patches whatsoever) BG right now...DO IT, and tell me that's playable. In fact you know what? I'll just play it myself then .
*goes off and plays*
Ok back, and guess what vanilla BG was SHIT. Now slap on a BGTutu mod and some banter packs etc. THEN you have an awesome game. To me you sound like you're basing your experiences off of a decade old nostalgia, I have the whole series on a single DVD and i just played it 2 months ago, so I think I have a fair idea of what the freak I'm talking about.
@moehannes: I'm not doubting that you're right because I remember BG being fairly buggy (albeit not game ruining from what I recall) but playing an old game 2 months ago can be quite a different and sometimes buggier experience than playing a game on a system out at the time of launch since new drivers, hardware, etc can all cause issues with older games.
