As we mentioned back in June, Capcom has teamed up with some of hip-hop's greatest talents to produce a downloadable mixtape, replacing the game's original jazzy soundtrack with something a little easier to fight to. Today they've revealed the cover art for the disc, available in printer-friendly downloadable form over at the Capcom Blog, in case any of you are still hooked on reading your music off of archaic silver discs.

And for those of you even more archaic, Capcom will be offering an extremely limited-edition vinyl copy of the mixtape at its fighting games panel at Comic-Con on Friday from 2:30-3:30 in Room 5AB, noting that it could also be used as a bonus for those buying items at the Capcom booth. Man, my Comic-Con swag battle plan gets more and more complicated every minute.

<![CDATA[Mechner Pens Prince Of Persia Prequel Graphic Novel]]> Series creator Jordan Mechner once again plumbs the depths of the Prince of Persia mythology, penning an anthology graphic novel to serve as a prequel to the upcoming feature film.

The Prince of Persia graphic novel anthology, due out in April of next year, features six short stories authored by Mechner and serves as a prequel to The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Along with creating the original Prince of Persia video game, Mechner also penned the screen story for the film, making him ridiculously qualified to pen a bridge between the two. This will be Mechner's first published book, though not his last, as he is currently collaborating with artists LeUyen Pham and Alex Puvilland on an original graphic novel trilogy for First Second Books.

Speaking of collaborating, the graphic novel will feature exclusive cover art created by Todd McFarlane of Spawn fame, and promises interior art by some of the biggest names in the comics industry. The book will be available in both soft cover and hardcover editions, with an initial print run of 125,000 copies.

Jordan Mechner will be joined by McFarlane, along with Bernard Chang, Tommy Lee Edwards, and Cameron Stewart, at the San Diego Comic-Con this Friday, discussing the creation of the graphic novel during the Disney Press panel.

<![CDATA[Dante's Inferno Comic Premiers At Comic-Con (Updated)]]> EA and DC Comics have teamed up to create a comic book mini-series based off of the upcoming Dante's Inferno video game, with preview copies available at the San Diego Comic-Con later this week.

DC Comics adds another video game license to their Wildstorm imprint with Dante's Inferno, the action-adventure game adopted loosely from Dante Alighieri's "The Divine Comedy". The creative team of artist Diego Latorre and writer Christos Gage are handling the six-issue series, scheduled to launch in December of this year. The comic will touch on some of the more action-packed moments of the game, while adding a bit of depth to the game's back story by exploring Dante's lost-love Beatrice's plight as her soul travels through the nine circles of hell.

Latorre and Gage will be at the Sand Diego Comic-Con this week, signing the special #0 preview issue that's been prepared for the show, with Latorre also signing a Dante's Inferno lithograph he created, which is a show-exclusive limited to 750 copies.

The Dante's Inferno celebration kicks off on Thursday afternoon with a panel titled "Go to Hell With Dante's Inferno," where various members of the development, comic, and animated feature teams will talk about adapting the classic work of literature, along with a special screening of the first trailer for the animated feature.

On top of all that, the game will also be playable on the show floor for all attendees.

For those of you trying to schedule this week (like us), I went ahead and included all of the details about who is going to be where doing what, directly from the EA press release.

"Go to Hell With Dante's Inferno" Panel – EA, DC/WildStorm and Starz Media present a panel discussion about how each group has translated the various aspects of "The Divine Comedy" into a video game, a comic series, and an animated feature. The panel is at 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM on Thursday, July 23rd in Room 8.

<![CDATA[Mad Catz Brings Exclusive Street Fighter Sticks To Comic-Con]]> The San-Diego Comic-Con is all about exclusive goodies, and in that spirit Mad Catz is hawking a limited number of exclusive Street Fighter IV arcade sticks and pads to show attendees.

Visitors to the San-Diego Comic-Con this week will have a chance to pick up one of 500 of these exclusive Street Fighter IV accessories, with 250 each split between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the controllers. According to Mad Catz Art Director Roentgen D. Reyes, Sagat and his nasty scar were the inspirations behind the design, which definitely has an angry orange-owie feel to it.

When we set out creating the Limited Edition artwork we knew that we had to create an impactful design that was radically different from the previous imagery and color schemes. With that in mind we chose not to concentrate on a group of characters but instead produce something targeted to the fan community. After working through a number of designs, we focused on one of the strongest ‘fan-favorite' characters in the game, Sagat. The character is renowned for his large scar which game legend tells us was caused by archrival Ryu. In my mind, playing Street Fighter® IV evokes the player's competitive nature, with rivalry a key element of the experience."

The hefty Tournament Edition sticks will be available exclusively through Capcom at Comic-Con for $179.99, while the pads will be available at the convention and on the Mad Catz Gameshark website for $49.99.

<![CDATA[Resident Evil 5 PC Dated, Benchmarked]]> Capcom not only brings us the final September release date for Resident Evil 5 on the PC, but a benchmark program to see if we're better off buying a console instead.

New costumes, an improved Mercenaries mode, and support for NVIDIA's new GeForce 3D Vision tech will have PC gamers lording their superior versions of Resident Evil 5 over console players come September 15th, as long as their rigs are packing the juice needed to get the job done. To that end, NVIDIA is offering up a benchmark tool at its Resident Evil 5 downloads area, along with a 3D Vision technology demo for those interested in seeing the game's cut scenes in full 3D.

Capcom will be showing off the PC version of the game to the public for the first time at the San Diego Comic-Con next week, so if you're planning on attending, drop by the Capcom booth to check it out in the flesh.

<![CDATA[Free Monster Hunter Quests At Comic-Con]]> Fans who bring their PSP and a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unit to the San Diego Comic-Com next week can score up to eight free quests, courtesy of Capcom.

The Capcom booth at the San Diego Comic-Con will feature a download station where players can snag any or all of the eight free quests the company has whipped up for the event. They're just a taste of the missions that Capcom will be offering for download every Friday from now through 2010, adding tons of value to what is already a pretty expansive title.

Capcom does warn that only six quests will fit on a memory stick, so either bring a secondary stick or be prepared to leave two of them forever uncompleted.
