Most of what they had going on on their screens were showings of their various game anthologies including Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 2, King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match, King of Fighters Collection Orochi Saga, Samurai Shodown Anthology, SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 and World Heroes Anthology. Not a whole lot new here but there were a couple of nice looking trailers for King of Fighters XII and the New Samurai Shodown.

The real treat however was a little surprise waiting on a DS in the corner, Metal Slug 7! I hot footed it over to the corner of the room and practically wrestled the girl playing it to the ground in my attempt to check out the game. It looked great, played better and had everything you could possibly want from a Metal Slug game. So if you are ready for a new Metal Slug experience, look no further than Metal Slug 7, coming soon to a DS near you.

<![CDATA[ Japan Gets PSone Games For PS3 ]]> jp_psstore.jpgJapanese PLAYSTATION 3 owners will finally be able to play downloadable PSone titles on their Cell-powered consoles starting tomorrow, not just on their PlayStation Portables, Sony announced earlier today.

That's the good news. The bad news is that only 11 of the 36 currently available PSone titles on the PlayStation Store will be supported.

Those titles are:

  • Spectral Force (Idea Factory)
  • R-TYPES (Irem)
  • A.IV. Evolution Global (Artdink)
  • Resident Evil: Director's Cut (Capcom)
  • Bishibashi Special (Konami)
  • Arc the Lad (Sony)
  • Ore no Shi wo Koete Yuke (Sony)
  • Gunners Heaven (Sony)
  • Ganbare Morikawa-kun Ni-go (Sony)
  • Little Princess: Maru Oukoku no Ningyou Hime (Nippon Ichi)
  • Tekken 2 (Bandai Namco)

Sony will be adding an additional 14 PSone titles to the Japanese PlayStation Store tomorrow, but they'll remain PSP-only for now. The list is very Japanese tailored, including SNK Playmore fodder like Metal Slug X and Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage.

I wonder what tomorrow's North American PlayStation Store update will bring us...

<![CDATA[ Date SNK Girls... On Your DS! ]]> PUTTING THE D BACK IN DSSNK Playmore released their character dating sim Days of Memories for Japanese cellphone users last year, but now the company is bringing the opportunity to digital hit on SNK's line up of busty/cute chicks to the Nintendo DS.

If you've ever had a hankering for some polite conversation with any of the lovely ladies from King of Fighters, Neo Geo Battle Collisseum, Metal Slug or Samurai Shodown, you'd best get crackin' on learning some kanji. I don't think this DS title will make it stateside, short of a miracle.

Those of you out there who do understand Japanese and have a prediliction for anime girls should put your pre-orders in. The game ships in Japan on June 14th.
