One you've seen (twice), and offers a Wii plus the kitchen sink, the other, you haven't, and offers you a DS and a bunch of girly crap.

Here's the Wii deal. $425 gets you a Wii, two games (Mario Super Sluggers and King of Clubs), two extra Wii Remotes and three nunchuks. If you're in the market for a Wii, extra controllers, a novelty sports game and a piece of shovelware, it's perfect.

Here's the DS deal. As you can see, it's for the ladies. The small ladies. It's got a a Metallic Rose DS, two games (Nintendogs and Purr Pals), a Princess Peach "Bling Kit" and a Princess Peach case. All for $200.

<![CDATA[Sam's Club Will Swap RRoD'd 360s, Refund Difference if Necessary]]> Keep this in mind if you're console-shopping on Black Friday. Via Consumerist comes word that Sam's Club, dealt with courteously and calmly, replaced a red-ring-of-death Xbox 360 with a working unit, let the poor guy keep his hard drive so he didn't lose his games and gamesaves, and, since all they had were cheaper bundles, refunded him the difference in cost. And, I might add, did all this without the BS replacement plan that some other big box retailers require for just such a swap.

Of course the machine needs to be under warranty (three years for red ring defects, pretty good bet it is) and you should keep your receipts in just such an instance. But if you (or, if it's a gift, whomever gets it) lives near where it was bought, this is loads better than waiting the two weeks to a month to get your refurb unit from Microsoft's brain replacement facility.

This doesn't surprise me, actually. I recall my Dad swapping out a defective chainsaw at a Walmart once, no questions asked. He explained that it was more profitable for them to take on the hassle of a defective, warrantied unit, figuring the customer satisfaction benefit would definitely bring them back and result in word-of-mouth recommendation. Which is what's happening here. So, good on Sam's Club. Anyone know of any other retailers who'll do this for free, tell us in the comments.

<![CDATA[Sam's Club Black Friday Wii Bundle Was Obviously Too Good To Be True]]> You didn't really think you were getting a Wii, three Wii Remotes, three Nunchuks, Wii Sports, Mario Super Sluggers, and King of Clubs Mini-Golf for $224 USD did you? Oh. You did? Well, shit. Sorry about that, because that mindbogglingly good deal from Sam's Club as part of a Black Friday deal sure isn't happening. Guess we should've paid heed to the official Walmart Check Out blog that "the information on those [Black Friday] sites was not entirely accurate."

Because it's not. Not even close.

According to an update to the offer at Black Friday Ads, the bundle will now be priced at a more sane, but less eBay flippable $425. Maybe. We'd advise referring to your hard copy of the Sam's Club circular for final, official, accurate, confirmed, solid and straight shootin' pricing.

<![CDATA[Sam's Club Prints Your New Madden Favre Cover While You Wait]]> Those of you planning to pick up your copy of Madden NFL 09 at your local Sam's Club may be in for a bit more value than the usual discounted prices. An official for the warehouse store dropped us a line this morning to let us know that Sam's Club locations with photo centers will print out a high-quality version of the updated packaging featuring Brett Favre in his dashing New York Jets uniform, which we revealed to you last night, right inside the store upon purchase of the game. Sure, you could head over to EA's Madden 09 site and download your own, but getting other people to do things for us is one of the principles that America was founded on.

We checked out Sam's prices for the games after receiving the news, and they do offer a nice little discount. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version are going for $55.55 ($83.22 for the collector's edition), with the PS2 and PSP versions marked at $36.33, the Wii version at $46.66, and the DS version a bargain at $26.66. All this plus a free cover replacement while you wait? None too shabby.

Update - Just got word from Walmart that they'll be printing covers on-site as well, though the games are regular price and you don't get a Walmart card with your picture on it - that's reserved for managers.

<![CDATA[Mario Kart Midnight Launch At Sam's Club]]> Looks like warehouse club chain Sam's Club had so much fun at their Super Smash Bros. Brawl midnight launch, they've decided to do another one, only this time for another game, because otherwise it would just be silly. Mario Kart Wii shall be the focus of this midnight launch, the second in Sam's Club history, with players and parents of players able to line up at stores across the country on April 26th to await the stroke of midnight and assuage their driving ambition. Don't have a Wii yet? A Sam's rep has informed us that every location will have at least 15 consoles on hand for the event, so you can kill two birds with one stone. The chain promises tons of copies on hand for the event, but you can always preorder at their web page, just in case. What they are trying to say here, is they want Sam's Club to be your video game store. Just don't try walking in without one of those membership cards, because their security will take you the f*** down.

<![CDATA[Sam's Club Climbs Aboard on the Smash Bros. Bandwagon]]> logo_samsclub_large.gif At the recent Sam's Club yearly management meeting it was revealed that the bulk/discount retailer will be begin taking pre-orders for games, launching the new process with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They will also be hosting midnight SSBB launch events at every Sam's Club store that will include not only the game but each store will have around twenty Wii's on hand as well. The game will retail there for under $44.

This is a new thing for Sam's Club so it will be interesting to see if people will actually attend a midnight launch there as opposed to going to a game store or other brick and mortar store. We have also been informed that Sam's will soon be stocking Rock Band at just under $150 (something tells me it will be 149.99) which is about a $20 cheaper than most places. If you're a Sam's Club member, keep an eye on their website as they will be adding more options for pre-ordering SSBB and other titles in the future.

<![CDATA[Sam's Club To Offer Black Friday "Wii Family Fun Bundle"]]> Just in time for Black Friday feeding frenzy, an anonymous tipster informs us that Sam's Club will be unleashing the "Wii Family Bundle." The package comes with a Wii, two extra Wii remotes, two extra nunchuks, Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8 and Brunswick Pro Bowling.

The offer is exclusive to Sam's Club members and can be purchased online although no price was given. Beginning Black Friday from 5:00 AM until 7:00 AM, the bundles will be sold at a limit of one per customer, but after that members can purchase as many as they lke until the supplies run out. This is a one time deal and once they are gone, they are gone.

Good luck Sam's Club members and try not to find yourself crushed under a one hundred pound tub of gummi bears in the fray.

<![CDATA[Rock Band Rocks Sam's Club]]> In conjunction with Rock Band's release Nov 20th (and the end of our normal lives as we know them), six Florida Sam's Club locations— we know, Sam's Club!—will be opening their doors for midnight launch parties. We don't think there will be any booze on hand (other than the unofficial stock in the back), but party goers will get a chance to play the game and then buy it (though we'd recommend the buying part first). Because Rock Band will sell out quickly when packaged in Sam's packs of twelve, trust us.
