Goooo Pokemon. Its not fair that your putting it together though...

Shoot, thats a poor debut for R&C: A Crack in Time, I thought that series was a bit popular in Japan, that game deserves better.

I think the problem with L4D2 is that its quite expensive within Japan also which really does not help it moving units.

I think the fact that Tekken isn't quite the monster that it once was is interesting. I at the very least didn't expect Bayonetta to beat it. Well done Platinum Games. Also thats some good 360 sales considering the install base over there #thejapanesehardwarechart

@excel_excel: It's always up and down relationship with me and Tekken.
The most favorite for me was, Tekken Tag while Tekken 5 wasn't that bad but I'm getting a mix feeling from Tekken 6.

Kinda wish that DoA would come back. I hated the XB360 version since the pressure sensitive buttons are gone so most of the character moves had to be tweaked but other than that it felt more balanced (besides the end boss Kasumi). #thejapanesehardwarechart

Does anyone know exactly how big the difference is between the PS3 and 360 versions of Bayonetta? Is there a mandatory install? Are the frame rate issues that bad? I know sometimes these things can be blown out of proportion. #thejapanesehardwarechart

@electroshockwave: There are differences. But not as big as they were between the demos.

The framerate is lower on PS3, but most people said it doesn't affect gameplay. The biggest issue I've seen is there is no install on PS3 and loading times are kind of above average.

Get the 360 if you can, I guess. But if you're on the fence for PS3 and it's your only choice, I'd say get it. I'm going by what some people have been saying though. My copy is probably stuck at the border right now. #thejapanesehardwarechart

@Desertwolf: It's really a western game. Hes too old and has insufficient zippers to attract the Bishonen crowd and his hair is too possible and his weapons aren't big enough to attract the teen demo over there.

Make him 16, dress him like he just fell into a pile of zippers at the fabric store, give him 3feet tall hair, and give him a gunblade and he'd sell as well as any jRPG. #thejapanesehardwarechart

That's such a mature way of going about it. Let me give it a try.

American only like games with guns that goes pow-pow and boom! If you make a game, make sure most of the action is done by standing behind a wall and more pow-pow! #thejapanesehardwarechart

@Kyolux (Yorozuya): I can do better.

    US appeal
Make him 27+, render him like he eats drinks and breaths steroids and dress him in red white and blue, add a 5 o'clock shadow, and give him guns that are at least as big as his arm. Thin the plot down so it's very very clear who the bad guy is. Explain it explicitly at least 3 times. After the 3rd time have the bad guy kill some kittens and speak with a foreign accent.

    French Appeal
Make him 20, dress him like he just spent $50,000 at LV, give him stylishly quaffed hair, and provide him with a practical sized weapon. Make all buttons wave white flags. Modify the plot to be existentialist and end with a plot point that makes one question the whole experience.

    UK Appeal
Make him 25, dress him in the uniform of the football team the player is in, give him a faux hawk, arm him with a beer bottle. Make the character respond to commands like he's drunk. alter the plot to involve beating the piss out of a rival team.

    Canadian Appeal
Don't really change him, add a beard if it's playoff season, all attacks make him apologize profusely. melee is altered to shift over head hockey fights.

    Chinese Appeal
Make him 25 and chinese, make him a bit shorter, spike his hair, and arm him with an Chinese AK. Make it very clear who the bad guys are, change all opponents into Japanese people.

    East Indian Appeal:
Make him 18, make him extremely light skinned and have Indian facial features. Every 5 minutes there is a interactive dance sequence.

    Korean Appeal
dress him like he just fell into a pile of zippers at the fabric store, give him 3feet tall hair, and change the plot so it's a tragic multi generational opus. Melodrama is key.

I see sales of Bayonetta and tekken 6 on PS3... I can say now that in Japan Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XIII Versus won't make a big blast for sure and will not boost PS3 sales that hard like DS or Wii...

I don't know, but Japanese market is really shrinking these days. I remember how everybody bought Ps2 in Japan... there are 40+ million install base, but now its a shitstorm. #thejapanesehardwarechart

@Golgari: I'd have to disagree there. Bayonetta's sales for a new IP in Japan is very, very good. Tekken's less than impressive numbers for an established IP can be attributed to not much Tekken coming out the last few years and that Japan players prefer arcades. #thejapanesehardwarechart

@excel_excel: Obviously Bayonetta sales are impressive because it recieved 40/40 in Famitsu.

But i can't see something beyond that. ts interesting what will be with Final Fantasy sales... but as for today economic situation in Japan i can't see something that will boost PS3 sales there... They are doing ok, but thats all.

This 7th generation Japanese prefer more DS like games. They are cheap, small, great. #thejapanesehardwarechart

This generation is nothing like the last in terms of sales numbers. And I remember this specifically because I lived in Japan at that time and always flicked through the weekly Famitsu when I was at the convenience store. #thejapanesehardwarechart
