Play-Asia's Late Easter Sale Is Hopped Up On Savings

Mega importer Play-Asia is slashing prices on just about everything with its Easter Egg sale. Everything (not released in the past 30 days) has been reduced 20% or more, with a handful of exceptions. The better news? You don't have to be an Japanese import enthusiast to save, as plenty of Play-Asia's stock is domestic and Asian stuff. That means you can snag deals like Ouendan 2 for $24 as well as recent releases like Devil May Cry 4 for well below retail. You could even secure one of those DualShock 3's for a song (read: cheaper than US retail). Yes, you can even get a deal on The IDOLM@STER.

Toys, movies, music! Aaaah! This may read like an advertisement, but I promise this is genuine excitement. There's plenty to look at but make sure you make your decision by March 31. Just don't grab my copy of Senko no Ronde and Sega Ages 2500: Galaxy Force II before I get my credit card out. Thanks.

crackdown

The Great Crackdown Markdown

Kotakuite Michael N. sends in this humorous and rather sad photo from his local Target. It seems that this particular Target had a surfeit of copies of Crackdown and is now offering them all up on an endcap for $15 a piece. Michael claims he checked and each and every one of those is a copy of Crackdown. Even for a large retail outlet like Target this seems like a ridiculous amount of copies to have of one game. It's also a bit of a shame considering I really liked Crackdown. It was one of the first games I got for my 360 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. On the other hand, it's a perfect opportunity for those of you who haven't tried it out yet to get it for a cheap price.

lost planet

Lost Planet 360 on the Cheap at Circuit City

If you have been lagging on checking out the frozen landscapes and giant bugs of Lost Planet now is your chance to do it cheap! This week Circuit City is listing Capcom's Lost Planet (360 version) for the low, low price of $19.99. According to the pages I checked, the offer is only available through the website and not available for in-store pick up but you may want to check your local store just to make sure. I must admit I am way behind the tip on this game, but I just got a copy for the PS3 that I am anxious to try out. My skills with shooters have improved vastly since BioShock so perhaps I can get through this one without too much embarrassment.

Rock Band Bundle on Sale at Target

Target's weekly ad has some pretty sweet deals this time around. The Rock Band Special Edition bundle for both PS3 and 360 is going for $149 (in store only) which is about $20 off the usual price. Also featured is a $40 gift card with the purchase of the 40GB PS3 and a $10 gift card with the purchase of one of eleven different games. Here's some of the highlights:

Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, 360)
Heavenly Sword (PS3)
Assassin's Creed (PS3, 360)
Call of Duty 4 (PS3, 360)
Halo 3 (360)
Mass Effect (360)
Lost Odyssey (360)

If you're feeling like a shopping spree you could pick up a couple games and use those gift cards to put towards that Rock Band bundle bringing the price down to a comfortable $129.

arcade flyers

The Arcade Flyer Archive Liquidating Collection

A few months back I mentioned that The Arcade Flyer Archive, an amazing collection of vintage and new arcade flyers, would be liquidating their collection. They've already been through one portion of the sale which we unfortunately missed out on. But never fear, there's still plenty more to be had. The flyers cover Arcade Video Games, Pinball machines and other types of arcade amusement machines. Everything you need to know about the sale including the list of available flyers, prices and shipping can be found at coinopvideogames.com. These guys have put a ton of hard work into cataloging this amazing collection so help support them by buying a few flyers. They're going cheap!

sam's club

Sam's Club Climbs Aboard on the Smash Bros. Bandwagon

At the recent Sam's Club yearly management meeting it was revealed that the bulk/discount retailer will be begin taking pre-orders for games, launching the new process with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They will also be hosting midnight SSBB launch events at every Sam's Club store that will include not only the game but each store will have around twenty Wii's on hand as well. The game will retail there for under $44.

This is a new thing for Sam's Club so it will be interesting to see if people will actually attend a midnight launch there as opposed to going to a game store or other brick and mortar store. We have also been informed that Sam's will soon be stocking Rock Band at just under $150 (something tells me it will be 149.99) which is about a $20 cheaper than most places. If you're a Sam's Club member, keep an eye on their website as they will be adding more options for pre-ordering SSBB and other titles in the future.

Cicuit City: 20% Off All DS games

This week's Circuit City ad is advertising 20% off on all DS games. They claim over one hundred titles are available, but as we all know from actually shopping these sales, the ones actually available in the store are rarely near the advertised numbers. Some of the highlights include Phantom Hourglass for $27.99 and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All for $14.99. In the same ad they also list Wii's in stock so head on over to Circuit City for a Nintendo shopping spree.

Amazon Drops Wii Zapper to $20

Amazon.com has dropped the price of the Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training to mere $20. Of course if you prefer your gun peripherals more gun like, there is also the Nyko Wii Perfect Shot Gun for $14.99 although that one doesn't come with a game. Whichever route you decide to take (if any) you will need to add an item or two on to your order to take advantage of the free shipping.

One Best Buy Was Selling $299 PS3s

Most of us wouldn't expect to walk into our neighborhood Best Buy and snag a 40GB PS3 for $299 (or any PS3 for that matter), but a lucky few who visited the Sterling, VA location were able to do just that earlier this month. And not only did a lucky few score $299 PS3s, but they were also able to snag 5 free Blu-ray movies with the offer, too. But before you get your SCREAMING PRICE DROP VOICE all warmed up, know that a sign marked the offer as a manager's special for that location only. Also know that the Easter Bunny isn't real, and we're not so sure about Santa, either.

Target Offers Assassin's Creed on the Cheap

If you missed out on Assassin's Creed when it first came out and have been looking for an excuse to pick it up, this might be your chance. Target is offering Ubisoft's latest for $38 on both Xbox 360 and PS3. This deal is not available online so you'll have to haul your can down to the store if you want to get your hands on this one. Also available at the same price is that other Ubisoft game, Raving Rabbids 2. Hmmmm, rough choice...

Still Alive Album Gets Price Cut

We've already mentioned that The Orange Box has gone on sale, but Valve just emailed to point out that the sound track for their game, including the hugely popular Still Alive, is also on sale over at Amazon.com now.

You can pick up the song as a single for just $0.89 or the entire album on Amazon for just shy of $8. Besides the Steam sale, Valve says that GameUK, Best Buy and other retailers have their game on sale right now for all platforms. So get out there and get to Orange Boxing.

GameFly Year-End Sale

GameFly has their Year-End Sale going on now until January 4th on all their preplayed (when did that corporate euphemism for "used" enter our dialect anyway?) games. Their prices are generally pretty solid, especially if you're a GameFly subscriber and get their free store dollars now and again, but this sale definitely has some deals to keep in mind. You could do a lot worse than picking up Forza Motorsport 2 (Xbox 360) for $14.99 or Worms: Open Warfare (PSP) for $9.99. Hit the jump for all their highlighted deals (and the stuff to fill that gaping post-Christmas hole in your heart that a Gap sweater can't touch).

All PopCap Games Are 50% Off

While PopCap games aren't my personal vice (I much prefer snorting coke off pleather escort boots), there's no question that they are a force in the PC/Mac casual gaming market. Now as part of a holiday sale, they've dropped the prices on their games by 50% until January 3rd. A kind of neat option they're offering is an emailable gift certificate. And if you can get over the looking like a thoughtless jerk to your spouse part, the certificate allows the recipient to choose from all 48 of PopCap's games with the option to play demos before purchase. I'd order one up for my mom, but since I gave her Puzzle Quest last Christmas her life has never been the same.

Toys "R" Us Offers Buy 3 Get One free

Kotakuite Jose sends in news of the most recent Toys "R" Us game deal. In this week's circular they are advertising a Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal on their entire stock of video games. The sale runs from tomorrow, Dec. 16th through Dec. 24th. This is a great opportunity to fill in some of the gaps in your collection or pick up some games for holiday gifts. The offer is also good online so you won't have to wade through the crowds of stressed out parents and unruly ankle biters to get to your favorite titles. Sure, it's not the greatest gaming sale that ever was, but free is free and that's all good in my book.

Toys-R-Us Video Game Mania

This week's Toys-R-Us Sunday circular is boasting a huge sale on all video games. Buy two games and get one free. In case you were curious about the asterisk at the end, it refers to a note at the bottom of the page that states the obligatory "The free game will be the one that's the lowest price of the three." The sale is available online and in store and goes from today Oct. 14 until next Saturday, October 20. My guess is that as the week goes on, the pickings will get slim, so put on your running shoes and warm up the credit card, we're going shopping! More »
