Call me old school, but I love the animated intros and endings. Back in the day, nothing was more awesome than playing a Sega CD/Saturn/early PS1 game and getting an animated cut scene. To this day I can still go back and watch the Lunar 1 and 2 scenes from the PS1 remakes.
@bakudan: I just didn't understand why they couldn't make it the in-game graphics, like when you fight your rival. The artwork in that game is so cool, that would have been awesome.
@Graham: That's the million dollar question, innit? They have a great engine and stylish graphics, why the hell would they commission such abysmal anime sequences?
It's all the more puzzling to me because Studio 4°C are behind many fantastic and distinctive films (shorts and features), but I guess artistic endeavours don't pay the bills quite as well as Capcom.
@Sammo21: how do they look? do they look as awesome as the commercials with the paintbrush strokes and the fighting? those graphics make me want to buy the game. not for the fighting, but just to get a glimpse of those types of scenes.
I was going to go see it this weekend anyway. This is just a bonus! How can this movie not be awesome? The Van Damme one was hilariously entertaining. People just need to turn off their brains and have fun.
"The Chun-Li anime extra will be added to the blu ray version of the Legend of Chun Li. 50 USD at all major gaming and Misc. retailers including Best Buy, Gamestop, Walmart etc."
@Bialia: Most of them weren't that bad really. It was just strange seeing the game using more advanced graphics in the gameplay than in the cutscenes. Usually it's the other way around.
What I think it´s wrong is practically not changing Sakura one bit to SFIV. She should look different and doesn´t and she should wear different clothes. Talk about wasted potential. They could at least change her hair style a little...
I remember seeing a fan art of an older Sakura wearing gym training-esque clothing that fit her character surprisingly well. Would have been great if Capcom adopted such a take on the character.
Sure, they should make her classic look an alternate outfit, but keeping her exactly the same? That's just... lazy.
@The Magnificen7: Got to love kneejerk Internet insult posting. There was an article posted here just this past Wednesday regarding a statement from the developer that Faith is just not a 12-year-old with enhanced breasts. I'm tempted to make a smart alec comment about not seeing the joke, but you'd likely call that racist as well. :p
Almost related: I got my copy of Arcade mania today! I've been surprised by the layout, as I supposed it would have a more "serious" feel about it. Still, it has been a highly entertaining read so far. Well done, Mr. Ashcraft.
@The Magnificen7: This is why I got pissed at the cop-off excuse about anime girls being younger then they look. How the hell is a girl wearing what looks to be an elementary school backpack go off to college every morning to be molested by her "professor". BULL! Shit's nasty!
@Frologic: Sorry... I descended into a rant. What I'm really trying to get at is that I've always been uncomfortable with the age correlation between animated characters that hale from Japanese animation and the true representation in reality. Sure enough, you see stunts like this and it all becomes clearer that the whole argument of them being older then they look is bullshit. I'm not out to condemn all anime as I enjoy it very much... it's that bullshit h-game stuff that really gets under my skin. I'm sure they used a 12 year old to turn on all the pervs who'll see their shitty commercial!!
...ok, I'm being a little to harsh (probably) but this seems so wrong.

It replaces the plain text introduction + endings characters had in say... Street Fighter Zero 3.
Character art, scrolling sprites, plain text, theme music vs animated short clips with voice acting.
I prefer the latter.
