You have no date, a two-liter bottle of Shasta, your all-Rush mixtape, and, now, this impossibly good Space Invaders clone built on Futurama's epic "Raiders of the Lost Arcade" vignette from the third season of Futurama.

Seven months in development, Shinobi's Place has released "Invaders! Possibly from Space!" to the wild - free - for PC. It recreates Fry's fight against Lrrr's invading horde ("Increase speed, drop down, and reverse direction!") with so much more - episode dialogue, power-ups, and of course, the all-Rush mixtape soundtrack. That means at least three IPs infringed upon here. I can only hope that Taito, Fox, Matt Groening, and Rush can come to a quick agreement that something this awesome must be allowed to live. In case they don't, run go get it quick before it is C&D'd to death.

<![CDATA[Next Week On Rock Band: Rush's "Moving Pictures" (And We Mean It This Time)]]> The release of Rush's "Moving Pictures" album for Rock Band didn't quite go as planned in August. Prog-rockers were understandably upset, but Harmonix swears that, next week, you'll finally get it as downloadable content. For just $10.99 (880 Microsoft Points) you'll get all these classic Rush tracks, including "The Camera Eye" which clocks in at just under 11-minutes. Buying in bulk? That's value!

Rush's "Moving Pictures" album includes the following.
- "Tom Sawyer" (orig version)
- "Red Barchetta"
- "YYZ"
- "Limelight" (orig version)
- "The Camera Eye"
- "Witch Hunt"
- "Vital Signs"

But wait, there's more!

In addition to a new batch of old Rush, you'll get this potpourri of new Rock Band DLC tracks, each just $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points).

- Bad Religion "Sorrow"
- The Cult "She Sells Sanctuary"
- Hot Hot Heat "Bandages"
- Kasabian "Shoot the Runner"
- Sleater-Kinney "You're No Rock N Roll Fun"
- Stone Roses "Love Spreads"

Not even remotely shabby! We'll take it!

<![CDATA[Rapper Nas Shows Rush How Tom Sawyer Is Done]]>
Wow, Nas sure can hammer home that solo in Tom Sawyer, but next time I want to see him trying to sing it. Poor Rush, I hope they don't see this video.

<![CDATA[Watch Rush Fail At Rock Band]]> Perhaps Neil Peart feels handicapped by a drum set with only five pieces or perhaps Alex Lifeson simply demands strings on his guitars. It's certainly not the smooth vocals stylings of Geddy Lee that cause prog rockers Rush to fail one third of the way through their own "Tom Sawyer" on Rock Band. Perhaps it's the "Expert" difficulty? The performance, which really should have included Lee on vocals and bass, for ultimate accuracy, was taped prior to the band's appearance on The Colbert Report for posterity (and future embarrassment).

The video is after the jump!

<![CDATA[Rock Band Gets Oasis, New Rush, Smashing Pumpkins This Month]]> Xbox.com let slip abnormally early the upcoming downloadable content for Harmonix's Rock Band, giving us a look at the rest of January's add-on tracks. First up are a trio of tracks from Oasis, "Don't Look Back in Anger," "Live Forever," and "Wonderwall." They'll be available the week of January 22nd to Rock Band owners, bringing familial strife and Manchester pop-rock to fans. Gotta start working on my Liam!

For the following week, Harmonix brings us the "Progressive Pack", featuring "Siva" by Smashing Pumpkins, "Working Man" as made famous by Rush, and "Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)" as made famous by Coheed and Cambria.

The overworked web staff at Xbox.com has since pulled the listings (someone goofed), but those who demand screenshot proof can find it right here.

<![CDATA[Magical Misery Tour At Lamethrower]]> Over at the lamentably neglected Lamethrower, Jason McMaster has combed the upcoming games list of EB Games to skewer any and all disposable, improbable, silly or stupid titles slated to be unleashed as festering boils upon the communcal consciousness of gaming.

I particularly sympathize with this commentary on Rush

The Rush series makes its way onto the PSP, with Wi-Fi support and an exclusive PSP stunt arena.

You know, the first time I saw this game title I immediately tried to figure out if I'd play as Geddy Lee or Neil Peart first. I was daydreaming about how sweet it would be to play an ACTUAL game of Big Money, make someone actually Stick It Out, living in the Limelight or just be the bad ass Tom Sawyer. I was wrong, it's a racing game.

He also has an issue with Every Extend Extra, betraying him as an ignorant clod who doesn't recognize it as the sequel to a brilliant PC puzzle game/SHMUP. But the remainder of the list mitigates the clod factor to a good extent.

<![CDATA[Midway Gears Up For '06, "Rock" Slums With Spy Hunter]]> Yes! The Rock is definitely gonna punch some people! Former oiled-up wrestler and Doom star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is not only appearing in the film adaptation of the Spy Hunter franchise this summer, but he's also got some huge face-time in the game adaptation of the film adaptation of the long running Midway vehicular shooter.

Gamespot got their hands on some new screens of Midway's upcoming titles, including Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run, before the official Midway Gamers Day, which hits next week. Other notable titles with screenshots and movies include the Rush franchise's bow on PSP, with requisite car-pimping, mission-completing, and hip hop-listening, as well as the next iterations of Rampage and MLB Slugfest.
