I don't really like the pulling the guy off the bike and would prefer it to stick to punching and kicking, but goddamn if everything else about that demo doesn't look sweet.
@MikoKeZ: Actually, I think EA is getting pretty cool again recently, with all the DICE games, Dead Space and Brutal Legend. I can hardly even remember why we hated EA so much...
NNNOOOO!!!! :-( *cries* Why EA? WHY!? I wanted a next gen Road Rash as much as I wanted a next gen WipeOut. We got WipeOut HD and now we need Road Rash HD! EA is so dumb for not making this. It was the classic beat-em-up vehicle combat game. Rad Rash HD coupled with on-line multiplayer would have been pure and uter genius! They could have even made a good single player campaign too. I wish someone would buy the Road Rash IP from EA to make it super awesome. Damn EA.
Actually, I really like the partially-textured look.
It makes it very easy to look at and see what you are doing... Hmm. Imagine if developers included a sort of "debug" mode in games where you could selectively strip the textures off a game environment. I miss easter eggs like that.
Watching that clip, I was thinking the whole time, Man, that would look so shitty and busy once they put complicated textures all over everything.
Modern games, while I sure do love them, are so damned busy looking. My eyes have to strain to pick out the groups of pixels I am supposed to pay attention to... I would flat shade nearly everything if I could, and simply enjoy interacting with the code.
This would be a tragedy if Road Rash doesn't get a new game at some point. Let Criterion do it justice, I'm sure they can handle it. Regardless, I need to be able to ride alongside other bikers/cops and smash them in the face with a two by four, not to mention stealing their weapons. Man, I remember playing a TON of Road Rash 3D back in the PS1 days. Awesome concept.
Looks awesome, but needs more death defying 50 feet jumps into the air! And crashing into a random object, then having your character faceplant 50 feet away. but I saw a big jump and knocking others off of their transportation, and it was good.
Pleeeeaaasssee bring it back, it'd be so awesome with today's multiplayer tech... my first racer, and one of my favorites.
