While this is certainly not a GREAT reason to name your kid Jason, it beats the hell out of naming him Orangelo, or Tairon.
...we've got a couple thousand years of human history under our belt, folks. Don't just make shit up and call it a name, unless it's a name for a robot.
Does no one remember Acclaim and their similar stunt, which was only made more ludicrous because they wanted parents to name their children "Turok"?
At least Jason is a normal name that a child can have without having to live with embarrassment. It's a cheesy ploy for a contest, yes, but I've seen far more insulting instances of it.
Interesting, first I have heard of this title, looks like its worth a rental at the least. I like the art style and it looks like a a lot of research was done to maintain a loyal representation of the time period.
I just have to say I'm still going to try this out. Then again, I played and finished Conan so that doesn't seem much.
Oh and slightly off topic. The one who did the review for 1UP was Giancarlo Varanini...I don't know why but I hate it whenever he reviews something. It's less reviewing and more griping on why things aren't done this way or that.
It's like he's penalizing games because some some game mechanics, graphics, etc are not suited to his tastes...
Oh and I've seen him on the 1UP show as well. Lord knows that was the only time I wanted to sock someone in the face just for talking...
@Fahey: Can you do it for me? I promise to send you cookies! Oh and maybe a comic book or two if you can kick him on the nuts!
I'll definitely be renting this one. What I fail to understand is why titles like Rise of the Argonauts, Mirror's Edge, Little Big Planet, The Last Remnant, and Valkyria Chronicles, among others, were set for a holiday release against the biggest marquee titles in the industry.
Is it not possible that with a few months to tune and polish, Codemasters could have had a stronger, more marketable title on their hands?
Even Tomb Raider has fared poorly in sales thus far, and that's an established IP with global brand recognition. If it can't compete with the Call of Duty's and the Gears of War's of the world, what chance does a new, unproven IP from a relatively unknown developer have during the most crowded release window of the year?
These publishers need to look at Capcom's business model a little bit closer, methinks. Launching new IP around the crowded holiday release window is brand suicide, with Assassin's Creed as the only exception I can think of, (which had more to do with great marketing than it did the game itself).
Look at what Capcom were able to do with Lost Planet and Dead Rising... even Devil May Cry 4 benefitted heavily from a lack of competition when it was released. Why can't more publishers get this through their heads?
Even Resident Evil 5 could be held until next Holiday succeed, but Capcom knows better. So does Rockstar. Hence GTA4's staggering first week sales figures.
Hardcore gamers? We game all year long. Not just at Christmas, and a game like Rise of the Argonauts or Valkyria Chronicles isn't going to resonate with the soccer mom/christmas list set, so why even bother if what you risk is retail suicide?
Why not give these titles a chance for the spotlight at any time throughout the first 3/4th's of the year? When we gamers are bored out of our collective minds for lack of quality new releases?
Hell- I paid full retail for Bullet Witch I was so desperate for new content at the time. I'd definitely give some of these titles more attention if they were released in a period of the year I actually had time to play them... as it is they all become also-ran releases that are lost in the fray before they even hit store shelves.
@stranger: amen. i thought i read not too long ago that this game was slated after the holiday rush, which gladdened me. now, instead of banishing the bugs and giving it more polish, you may as well give this game a shovel and watch it dig its own grave.
I bought this game yesterday and it rocks. I have no idea what some of these writers are playing. This might be a case of them getting a earlier frame rate riddled copy like LOST ODYSSEY. The game I have dips a little but it's not TWO WORLDS. This is game is fun and fresh. I would give it a 8/10. The only thing I don't like is the dialogue can get long. No xbox, wi, are low level pc can do these graphics. So the idea is CRAZY.... Just my thoughts guys. Play the game yourself and then judge it. Rent it first if you're skeptical. I learned a long time ago to not listen to reviews. They write about games and rarely have time to really play a game.... I hope this helps.

None of them can ever be better than the Jason from Power Rangers. :)

Or Killzone.
Or MadWorld.
Hell, I would even be happy if people called me Mister Jack in real life. It sounds badass.

But still... there are better reasons to name your children Jason.

@DangerApe: It's not the devs but the publishers who tend to see dollar signs in their short-sighted eyes.

Another Action RPG failure for the xbox. Goddammit. I WANT A GOOD ONE, not this too human conan argonauts crap.
For the record, I enjoyed conan, but Im not quite sure why. Boobies and Ron Pearlman? Probably.

Fable 2 is more akin to Legend of Zelda. I want something more akin to Diablo. Like if Too Human didn't suck.
