    I was hoping for it to succeed, but one of the folks expecting it to fail.
    I was one of the people who bought Eye of Judgment, and the game struggled to even read the cards correctly on a set placemat. Expecting it to react realistically would have been absurd.
    Of course, I don't expect any better from Natal, as it still suffers from that "real world" problem. #eyepet

    @Ad-hominem: Then again, I remember a lot of people being wary of the Wii and its technology when it was first announced.

    I know, I know, they're entirely different projects in terms of scope and depth, but there's still room to be pleasantly surprised.

    That said, emotiv's headset dealy has been described by various sources I generally trust as either good or bad, so the jury's still out on that one.

    I don't think non-traditional gaming is a necessity yet, but pushing the boundaries past the virtual-reality shooter of 1995 county fairs is a welcome change. #eyepet

    @Laute: Using the Wii as a comparison isn't a particularly good idea, when you realize that there are still people complaining about poor responsiveness with Wii controls. #eyepet

    @PoweredByHentai: Yah, I pretty much only got it because it was on sale and I wanted to make rude gestures at people in Burnout: Paradise, but that got old really fast, and I meant to get LBP at the time, so I could import textures and stuff, but never did end up getting LBP. I should really do that. #eyepet

    Agree with most points- though I still hate the music. They've traded in nice, melodic tunes in favor of FX driven...drivel, which become annoying after the 10th time you've heard that "ha ha" sample (you'll know it when you hear it). They basically took the music from NSMB DS, which is a pretty saddening idea. There also isn't really that much variety- while there never has been much variety within a Mario (platform) game music wise (save for the 3d titles), some of the music is just a cop-out. You'll notice it when you get to the Snow World (no spoilers there), they take the lame road and just add sleigh bells over the standard music you've been hearing from the start. Really? Is that the best you could do?

    I pine for the days when music was limited to hardware synthesis and not sample-based buggery- the composers seemed to care more about making a good tune than tossing in sounds that only appear in cartoons. #newsupermariobroswii

    Damn. I was going to wait for Christmas to get this... but now I don't know if I can wait. I need more hours in the day. Call of Duty MW2, Borderlands, Uncharted 2 are still holding my attention in a big way. I got Dragon Age and decided to save it to play when I had less pulling for my attention. Now Assassin's Creed 2 and Mario next week. I am actually thankful that many games I wanted this year got delayed. My head would have exploded if Alpha Protocol, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Just Cause 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Champions Online (X-Box), and DC Universe all made it out in 2009. #newsupermariobroswii

    Yeah, it's what I feared. Not just the technical problems, but also the absence of design. Media Molecule, Insomniac or Naughty Dog (teams that know how to make good platforming games). It's a half-baked tech demo, and its potential will probably never be fully achieved as SCE will file this under "Big Failures."

    @FP_slomo788: well its just because this game is not a priority for SCE. Thats why ND, Insomniac, Molecule and top tier developers won't do this title (or any on PS eye).
    There is just no potential interest in camera yet (or market), but for kids this will be a nice present.

    If your child will smile, then its enough about this game. #eyepet

    @Golgari: I agree 100%, but (well I guess 99%) I think everyone should still expect quality from the game, even if it's targeted at children. If they will be frustrated by the technical problems or if they will get bored after one hour of doing the same things, then it was not ready to be sold.

    But then again, who can predict how a child will react? Maybe they will love it all the way after all. #eyepet

    @FP_slomo788: I doubt it. It'll probably be several initial moments of "Awww!" followed by immediate frustration.

    I wish we knew what was more at fault here. Is the EyeToy simply too outdated to allow a game of this sort to work, was the development team simply cut short with their time, or were they incompetent in their development? #eyepet

    "You know something's wrong when the tutorial tells you to empty your living room of furniture ..."

    Yeah ... that's a pretty big issue there. I was hoping I'd be able to run the pet on my coffee table, but I'm not going to move everything when I want to turn the thing on.

    Natal is supposed to be able to adapt to furniture in the room, so it'll be interesting to see how it compares ... whenever it is actually released. #eyepet

    This is proof of the technical disadvantage that the PS Eye has when compared to Natal.
