    @danieltolin: I did, I had it waay after release on one of those Budget PC Game disks, I didnt really think much of it.

    I'm not against the game as such, more the whole, Gothic Alice thing, its everywhere, every single "artist" on deviant art has some sort of drawing of the cheshire cat looking dark, heck, you can buy Gothic looking alice in wonderland clothes and costumes near where I live.

    However, I wont pretend to comment on this game, as nothing has really been seen of it.
    I hope it turns out great, its obviously highly anticipated by a lot of people and theres nothing worse than seeing somthing with such a following go down and dissapoint after people have spent sometimes years working on it.

    ...unless its an MMO! #returnofalice

    It makes my blood boil every time I hear some inept "omg leik its sooo dark" kid go on about Tim Burton.

    @Blore07: And as far as putting a timeline to the "dark" angle is concerned, things were dark well-before American McGee came around. Try Blade Runner or even Empire Strikes Back, for starters. And, yes, those are good examples of dark-themes. #returnofalice

    I always found developers who brand their own name onto their games a strange phenomenon, though for some reason McGee sticks out in my mind. As far as I know, his major achievement was being part of the Id team back in the heyday. His solo titles have ranged from fairly decent, in the case of American Mcgee's Alice, to atrocities, ala American Mcgee's Bad Day L.A. It strikes me as a bit deluded, if not outright narcissistic. It really is something that the industry could us less of*. I suppose in the case of Bad Day, it could be seen as a sort of martyrdom so as to spare the rest of the development team from the flames and pitchforks.

    * With exceptions to Sid Meier, the only man in my eyes who warrants such ego stroking pretentiousness, what with being the granddaddy of awesome and all. #returnofalice

    @amcog: Actually, it was EA that started putting developer's names on fronts of boxes back in the 80s. They thought it was kind of neat, giving credit where it was due. On the other hand, those were simpler times; I don't think developers back then used the kinds of teams that Molyneux and McGee have access to these days. #returnofalice

    It's nice that they decided to make another game with the characters. I remember having a lot of fun playing this game and Clive Barker's Undying.

    @Whizkid103: You don't have to worry anyways - they (as in Riccitello) announced back in Feb that the game would be coming to the PC,PS3 and 360.
    Considering it's EA, they probably are working on it with the PS3 as the lead dev console as well.

    Actually, it's really easy. Watch:

    I'm not a 12-year-old goth girl, and I don't really give a toss about this game. About the only thing less original than adolescently 'dark' takes on fairy tales is adolescently 'dark' takes on the Alice stories.

    And, yeah, Tim Burton has seriously lost any of the goodwill or credibility he had in the days of Beetlejuice, PeeWee, and Nightmare Before Christmas (the latter of which owes more credit to Henry Selick's skills than to his, anyway).

    @mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: I think the main bit that most people have forgotten is that the first game came out in 2000, which was really before any of the "dark fairytale" fads took off. The first game wasn't made for "12-year-old goth girl[s]" but rather a core gamer audience. American McGee's Alice was a horror platformer instead of a goth adventure. The backlash of Tim Burton-fan-hatred is a little unfounded. #returnofalice
