I never played the Gamecube version of Resident Evil Zero, which tells the story of rookie S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and ex-Marine Billy Coen as they discover the origin of the T-Virus. I'm not even sure I owned a Gamecube when the game was released, and by the time I got one I had other concerns. Now Capcom is re-releasing the game on the Wii as part of the Resident Evil Archives series, tweaking it for Wii remote and nunchuck control, but otherwise leaving the game intact.

Resident Evil Archive: Resident Evil Zero will be released on December 1st. Wii owners lacking the patience to wait until then can probably find a cheap copy of the Gamecube version used somewhere for less than the $29.99 asking price for the new one. Just saying.

<![CDATA[Capcom USA Not So Interested In Resident Evil 0]]> That Resident Evil 4 Wii port did some good business for Capcom. So the Resident Evil 0 Wii port makes sense! So why not bring that Japan-only Wii port to the US? Well, Capcom USA doesn't want it, it seems. Like, really doesn't want it. Capcom exec Christian Svensson explains:

Nothing is ever final, but we’ve been asked twice if we’ve wanted to bring it Westward and twice we’ve declined.

Yeah, would any American Wii owners actually buy it if Capcom ever did decide to port it? Sure a few would, but...

<![CDATA[Resident Evil Zero Remake Is For Japan Only]]> Lots of people angry with Capcom's move to rehash another Resident Evil game on the Wii. Well, you can cool your jets, you furious legion, because Capcom say the "new" Resident Evil 0 is destined only for Japan. If you're outside of Japan and still interested, you can do what nobody did last time the game came around and just grab the GameCube version.

<![CDATA[Capcom Porting Another GameCube Resident Evil to BC Wii]]> For third party publishers, Capcom's done alright on the Wii. The Resident Evil 4 port did good business for them — even if the GameCube version was already playable on the Wii! People just loved the tacked on waggle. That means one thing: More RE ports! This year, Capcom is bringing Resident Evil Zero to the Nintendo Wii. That's right, Capcom is again remaking a GameCube original with waggle. Think about it: Another waggle remake of a backwards compatible GC remake that you can already play on the Wii. Knowing Capcom, don't be surprised if they wagglize every single RE game. Be sad.
