I enjoyed Resident Evil 0, and am really looking forward to seeing what the Wii version will be like. Pains me to see so many people trash talking about it in here. I've been a fan of RE since the day it was first released on the Playstation, and I felt like 0 was a great return to the old style of playing, which I still enjoy. Bite it haters, d_r_e out!!!
@d_r_e: In case you didn't know, they haven't added anything to it. While Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition can be considered the definitive "director's cut" of that game, Resident Evil 0 on Wii is just Resident Evil 0 on GameCube, right down to a lack of 16:9 support. From what I read, none of the controls have been changed or tweaked, and there is no new content available. If you have the version on GameCube, I guess you could still get this one, but it'd be rather pointless since they are, in effect, exactly the same. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
No 16:9 support?! Damn. That's essentially what I was hoping for. I still have my GameCube copy, as well as the others in the RE series ... and there's no way that I'd part with them. Thanks for the heads up, sir. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
Man, this game was great when I first played it. I'd probably pick this up if I didn't still have my original copy. Those who never played it for gamecube and actually like old-school R.E gameplay should pick this up. Still wishing Billy would show up in another game. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
So now we can play one of the worst games ever made*...AGAIN...made prettier...AGAIN...BUT THIS TIME, you wiggle your arm to shoot instead! INNOVATION!
*Based on how the game has horrible controls, graphics, writing, acting, gameplay, and "horror elements" #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@WhiteMage says fix the comments grr: It's a weapon. It's really powerful, especially against living things. Better take it with you. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@WhiteMage says fix the comments grr: You are confusing Resident Evil 0 with Resident Evil. There has only been one version of 0, and it was on the GameCube. This is just a direct port of that version. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@WhiteMage says fix the comments grr: Fail. Resident Evil has only been released once before, on the Gamecube. It was never ported to any other console, and actually had some interesting new ideas, as long as you don't mind the old RE formula ( which you probably do, I do myself ).
But porting it to the Wii and using the controls properly would mean RE4-alyzing the game, like the Dead Rising port for the GC? That could actually turn out pretty cool...!
I never played this game, and I know for a fact it's good. Not to mention, it looks gawgeous. I welcome it ^_^ #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@WhiteMage says fix the comments grr: Er...this is Resident Evil Zero. Only released on Gamecube. And it was a new game when it was released not a remake. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
Wow, quite the ripoff there. Are RE1 and RE0 hard to find or something? I have both on GCN.
These are no different. Only thing they have is the ability to use the Wii controller and the classic controller. Theyre not enhanced in the slightest. They dont have Wii motion controls and they didnt get turned into widescreen games, which is kind of understandable since the backgrounds arent 3d.
In the face of the God Of War collection, this is a complete ripoff.
or maybe the God Of War collection is a great deal. i dont know. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@Outkastprince: Even for people who have played God Of War 1 and 2 its a great collection worth buying again. its remastered, has trophies, and it has a GoW3 demo.
And you know.. its 2 great games.. for 40 dollars.. so theyre 20 dollars each.. with graphical upgrades and trophies..
Re1 and RE0 are.. nothing really.
Im not even against Re1 or Re1, im a fan. I quite enjoyed them, and im also not clamoring for a Wii controlled remake, that would be too much work and would probably constitute full price, im just asking for this to be cheaper. or for both Re1 and Re0 to be packed together for 30 bucks, like the Metroid trilogy was.
Even Square Enix throws in a new dungeon or two in their lazy money grabbing FF rereleases. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@Koztah: Ash! Wow, just thinking about the first time I saw his movies make me feel old.
Ash needs his own kick ass game someday (a good one) where he's kicking some evil butt and taking names. Maybe give us a FPS+RPG type game like Borderlands, as long as I can level up that chainsaw.
Added bonus if they could let us unlock his Autolycus character from Hercules. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@Koztah: Actually, there is 8 more episodes after that musical, that aired in Canada as two 2 hour movies and in the US as 8 half hour episodes.
I'm not surprised you missed those, they didn't air till 2001 like 4 years after the series had ended with that musical. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
@Koztah: Oh and they are apparently making 3 new movies due out in 2010. All they have is a short teaser out that says "in coming game" and looks really pretty, but that's it. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
I picked up a RE and RE0 double pack for $29.99 right before RE4 for GameCube released. I cannot get into the old style RE games for the life of me. The graphics are pretty fantastic though.
@Jekku: A lot of people prefer them just because of the difficulty and mechanics that aren't present in RE4+. Like, every bullet counts in that game, there's a limited inventory so you gotta be really prepared, you don't wanna go over the same areas too many times or you might get the red zombies (they're bastard hard in those games). Also, they had a lot of really scary moments, which is the biggest thing missing from the new games.
Back when RE came out 3D games still hadn't reached their potential (it was a pretty bad time, not a lot of the games that received good reviews back then are even playable now; look at Tomb Raider), so the camera angles and controls weren't as much of an issue since they were bad for pretty much every third person game back then and RE still really delivered on the puzzles and atmosphere. Frankly, Resident Evil is one of the few 3D games from the pre-Mario 64 period that is still highly enjoyable by todays standards. Hell, it even had a number of imitators. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
Man, they really want us to play this game. I bet it comes out for the next Nintendo console in a few years, till it's a best seller. Maybe I'll give it a look, I love myself some Capcom.
@Outkastprince: Rehashing 'core' Gamecube games for the Wii is much cheaper than making new ones, especially considering many Wii owners probably have never been within spitting distance of a Gamecube.
Resident Evil 4 could be justified - the Wiimote severely enhanced that game (while making it ridiculously easy but I digress). But RE0..?
It seems Capcom are on a mission. A mission to disappoint. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
They aren't even adding in widescreen 480P? That kinda makes the whole game pretty much redundant, considering that you could pick it up on Gamecube, with a GC controller and memory card for the same price ($30 is about £20 i think?) #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
Think about it though, it's not very easy to do so. The game uses pre-rendered backgrounds set at a 4:3 aspect ratio. Pre-rendered backgrounds are like animated pictures. You can't magically make them widescreen without going back and recreating every single background, and a lot of the backgrounds probably were not designed for a widescreen aspect ratio, so they'd probably have to do some touching up to their environments to better suit the new aspect ratio. They'd have to change the points at which the camera changes it's angle in some part as well.
Yeah, not worth it for a quick cash-in port. #residentevilarchivesresidentevilzero...
