It has been confirmed that upcoming 3D Hollywood flick Resident Evil: Afterlife, originally slated for August 27, 2010, will be released on January 14, 2011.

Jovovich, the film's star, tweeted that the movie had not been officially been pushed back, writing, "RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they [are] not sure they can have it ready by July. We [are] trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for August."

To fill the gap, the studio will be sliding up vampire film Priest from its original release date of October 1 to August 27 — because vampire movies are better for late summer than October.

Resident Evil: Afterlife will be facing off with MGM's thriller The Cabin in the Woods, also a 3D film. RE: Afterlife is currently filming in Canada and will wrap up shooting this December.

<![CDATA[Will New Resident Evil Movie Be Delayed?]]> Upcoming Hollywood flick Resident Evil: Afterlife has been announced for release on August 27, 2010, but reports have surfaced that the movie will be pushed back to January 14, 2011.

Afterlife is the first film in the series to be filmed in 3D, and the rumored delay is due to the extra time needed to complete the movie's CG special effects.

The film's star, Milla Jovovich, has tweeted that the movie has not officially been pushed back, writing, "RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they [are] not sure they can have it ready by July. We [are] trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for August."

For the moment.

<![CDATA[First Pictures From Resident Evil: Afterlife Set]]> While actress Milla Jovovich has been twittering the crap outta upcoming movie Resident Evil: Afterlife, two photos from the set have surfaced online.

Above is Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke and Wentworth Miller. Below is a wider shot. Wondering who those people in white are?

"We call the people in white 'pod people' here on set," she tweets. "They have been used as Umbrella 'test subjects' in horrifying experiments." Resident Evil: Afterlife is currently filming (in 3D!) and will be out next summer.

<![CDATA[Milla Jovovich Twittering Her Brains Out About New Movie]]> Milla Jovovich might be new to Twitter, but that doesn't mean she's not a twittering fiend, dropping bits and bops about the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife. Spoilers, ahoy!

Don't believe us that Jovovich is a serious twit. Check out her updates from the last 24 hours or so, which provide all sorts of details about Afterlife. Deep breath, here goes, Jovovich's selected tweets:

they were of the big action sequence with Alice and Claire fighting THE EXECUTIONER who in reality is an 8 ft. tall heavy weight boxer!

he has a HUGE axe and we're in a prison shower, so everytime he swings the axe, showers explode!

so thru the whole scene its literally raining! so beautiful!

...so before we started shooting Paul met with the creators of the game and they are too much! so sureal!

he"s sitting in this very "umbrella" style boardroom and there"s like 6 japanese guys, very serious, all staring at him. kind of akward.lol!

so the japanese are all staring at him and he trys to make some conversation you know? and he says"so whats some future plans for umbrella?"

thinking they will laugh or something right? i mean its a fictional corporation for heavens sake!

but they VERY seriously look at him and the main dude goes(imagine the japanese accent please) "umbrella corporation has many secrets." lol!

its so creepy right? i laughed so hard when he told me that. its like, relax a bit guys! they act as if they really are umbrella! scary.

...we're doing a great scene where Alice walks into umbrella headquarters and there are 6 huge V22 Ospreys lined up in a huge hangar.

the ospreys are VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) planes, otherwise known in the US military as "widowmakers" because they crash so often

of course umbrella's ospreys don't malfunction and they look a million times cooler cause umbrella is very into aesthetics! lol!

...someone asked if the executioner looks like the ax man in silent hill. well, kind of, but much cooler!

cause he doesn't wear a triangle on his head and doesn't show man ass.

...so, for anyone interested in the guns i use in this movie, here is the list:

2 smith&wesson 460 revolvers, 2 sawed off double barrel shotguns,1MPSK submachine gun,2MP9 submachine guns and 1 M4 assault rifle. phew!

so, Wentworth, Ali and i are doing this scene right now where chris r. and clair r. run into the V22 hangar, guns blazing,

trying to shoot Wesker, but to run in groups firing weapons is VERY dangerous.

cause shooting a gun with full loads, even though they are blanks could make your head cave in at short range. fun right?! hehehe... not.

and the last time we all did a scene when we were all firing together, i could feel my hair flying up from the guns behind me.

Twittering at a break-neck pace — but can see keep it up?! The account isn't verified, so your mileage might vary. And sadly, Milla Jovovich follows no one. Somebody explain the concept of Twitter to her and quick.

<![CDATA[Milla Jovovich Has Never Seen A 3D Movie]]> Have you seen a 3D movie? Actress Milla Jovovich hasn't. Not even Captain EO! That's okay, because she'll be able to watch herself in 3D when the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife opens late next year.

From an interview with website ShockTillYouDrop.com:

Interview: I know a lot of actors don't like to see themselves on screen and I was curious about whether you've seen yourself in 3D yet.

Jovovich: No, I haven't, I haven't.

Interview: I guess there'll be thousands of you in 3-D.

Jovovich: That'll be pretty interesting. I've never actually seen a 3-D movie.

That doesn't stop the actress from going to say how an action movie like Afterlife has "a lot of potential for 3-D to kind of use the medium at its best."

Afterlife will rap up filming this Christmas and be out next September.

<![CDATA[Milla Jovovich On Why They're Making Another Resident Evil Movie]]> Hollywood has already churned out three Resident Evil films. Three films? That's a trilogy. Now, director Paul W.S. Anderson and his star/fiancée Milla Jovovich are making a fourth. Why? Money.

"The movie makes money," says Jovovich. "If it makes more money than the last one, you'd think that people want to see another one, so we'll do another one. There's been a lot of interest online, there's been a lot of letters from fans... film company. It's not like I said, 'Hey, honey! Let's do another one right away!' I mean, it's an expensive film and it's all business and if the third one didn't do well, there wouldn't be another one."

Slated for a September 2010, the fourth film is dubbed Resident Evil: Afterlife and will be in 3D. According to Jovovich, Anderson has been busying himself by boning up on every 3D film that's ever been made. "Especially for a movie like this," the actress adds, "because it's wild and a lot of action and a lot of potential for 3D to use the medium at its best."

Anderson has inked a deal with the folks who are doing Avatar's 3D to bring their expertise to Afterlife.

<![CDATA[Casting Resident Evil: Afterlife]]> No secret that today's been a tough one. We know lots of you had problems getting to the site. So let's wind down with a game of what-if, casting the next Resident Evil film.

The Bits, Bytes, Pixels and Sprites takes a look at who'd be best for the fourth installment of the franchise, which, as video game movies go, has sucked less than the norm. Then again, Uwe Boll does blow the curve on that.

Chris Evans, (above) aka Johnny Storm from the (to use a Stan Lee favorite, yeccch) Fantastic Four series is their Redfield choice; Karen Dyer, who voiced Sheva Alomar in the game, is the no-brainer for that role. Kelly Hu is shrewdly chosen for Ada Wong, based on past video game work and some strikingly good looks.

Chew it over, mull it, or just flame it to death. Whatever, there's gonna be another Resident Evil film, and as past efforts have shown, these things don't act themselves.

<![CDATA[Milla Jovovich Confirms "Number Four"]]> Chatter is swirling that the newest Resident Evil film, Resident Evil: Afterlife, is aiming for a September 17, 2010 release. Last night, Milla Jovovich said this to a crowd of paprazzi:

We're going to start shooting at the end of the year.

It's hard to hear exactly what Jovovich was asked to prompt that response. (Though the minute of footage of her droning on and on about her child? We can here that just fine.)

A paprazzi follows up Jovovich's reply by asking, "Which one is this?" Gesturing, Jovovich said, "Four."

One insider reports that Jovovich confirmed to him directly that she has signed on to do Resident Evil: Afterlife and filming will start at the end of the year.
