Requiem: Bloodymare Enters Open Beta

Didn't get into the Age of Conan early start event? Well here's something for you to mess about with over the weekend instead. Gravity Interactive's horror-MMO Requiem: Bloodymare couldn't have picked a better time to go into open beta. Right now you can head over to the website, register an account, download the client, and there you are, fighting evil in a rather unique little setting.

I've played the game a bit myself, and while there are points where it feels a bit like your standard Korean MMO given a fresh coat of paint, the game mechanics are actually rather entertaining. The only real problem I have with it is that it is hard to maintain an atmosphere of horror after you've killed the same monster 20 times, but it definitely has a few moments. Hit up the link below to get things started!

New Requiem: Bloodymare Screens. Now More Bloodier.

Much like McWhertor, when I first heard about Requiem: Bloodymare, I had pretty high hopes. A bloody, gory MMO sounded awesome but as more and more screens come in I'm left feeling a little let down. They just don't quite cut it for me somehow. Of course, I will reserve my final judgment until I actually play the game, but for now it sort of just strikes me as Warcraft with lots of blood.

Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer

When I heard there was going to be an ultra gory MMO, my interest was piqued. But, after seeing some screens and now this trailer, my pique has waned a bit. It looks nice if not a bit generic and there's not nearly as much blood and gore as I had hoped for something with "bloody" in the title. But, who knows, it could shape up to be a really amazing game for all I know and then who will be laughing out of the other side of his face? The real question though is: Does lots of blood equal a good MMO?

Requiem: Bloodymare Looks...Bloody?

Oh Gravity Interactive, how you raise my hopes and crush my dreams. First you announce your Havok-powered horror MMO Requiem: Bloodymare last week, getting my hopes all inflated for something unique and terrifying in the massively multiplayer sector, and then you give us screens like these. Granted the town looks kind of nifty and the character screen is nicely detailed, it's a dark elf. Standard Korean MMO dark elf number 3, if I am not mistaken, with a few demonic modifications to make him a little more evil than your average DE. On top of that, while these screens contain plenty of bloody, I see not one horse. What gives?

Requiem: Bloodymare Brings MMO Horror

Gravity Interactive is looking to bring a whole new world of violence, bloodshed, and death to the fantasy-saturated MMO market with Requiem: Bloodymare, a horror-themed massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. Powered by the Havok engine, the game explores a dark future where science and magic out-of-control have warped the natural world into something completely twisted. Players take on the role of genetically engineered, magically augmented Temperions, tasked with taking on the nightmare creatures plaguing the land. Factors such as time of day factor heavily into gameplay, and players will have the ability to genetically engineer themselves to be gain new abilities. Sounds intriguing, but the brief teaser at the game's website doesn't do much to impress, and for a game slated for a release early this year they sure are being stingy with the screenshots. Still, it's nice to see a very underrepresented subject making its way onto the MMO scene. Let's just hope the scares can hold up when OMGWTFROFLDude kicks in with the Chuck Norris one-liners in global chat. More »
