sadly in my country bandwidth is quite limited, anyone has a rough estimate on a decent bandwidth for this to work over internet? say... 1 Mbps upload and download? i tried BC:Rearmed with my PS3 and my PSP 10 meters away from each other and it still lagged... :( maybe its because i have a psp1000 ?
@Archaotic: Still bullshit. It won't work. You can say "watch the video!" all you want but it's meaningless. It won't work for anyone well enough to use it unless you're absolutely terrible.
@FWM: must be more responsible: More is not always more. It's a useless feature. The PSP has an awful D-pad, an awful analog nub, and hurts my hands to hold for more than 20 minutes at a stretch. Trust me, I own nearly every fighting game for the system (short of The Con ugh) just because I always get suckered into it by friends. No one should want to play a fast-paced 2D fighter on the PSP, period, lag or no lag.
@Ueziel: I dunno, I have the PSP version of Guilty Gear XX and I seem to do fine at it. I'm no pro, but I'm decent enough to pull off a good combo or two and can kick all my friends' asses at it.
It's not the PSP's fault, it's bad optimization of Remote Play. Again, the people who've played the game on Remote Play say it's playable. You won't be playing in a tourney with it, but for random practice? Why not?
@Archaotic: Special edition is fully payed off. I'll definitely be spending all night online with this thing. We've got to get a couple of matches in on launch day.
@[ZTF]214A, 2A, 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D, 214B, 214D: In celebration, I just picked up the PSP version of Guilty Gear XX #Reload on the PS Store for $5. If anybody else wants to join me, I might just start up an Ad Hoc Party channel?
Wow that's awsome. Remote play is sadly not promoted the way it should be. It's such an amazing feature. You can be anywhere in the world and connect to your PS3. I used to show customers at work it in action, and their minds would always be blown.
Anyone know if there are other actual disc based games that work with remote play? I'm thinking this is the first.
@Slagathorian: Was it good? I never picked it up because the world hated it. It's cheap now, right? I really liked Panzar Dragoon Saga. Is it even remotely like that?
@FWM: must be more responsible: It's considerably better than it was at launch thanks to the Dual Shock compatibility patch, but it's still not a great game.
@FWM: must be more responsible: I actually really enjoyed it. I think it got a lot of undeserved hate. I imagine it was similar hate to the kind that wii music got. People who hadn't played it, yet bashed it because it was the cool thing to do.
Mind you all early console games that were released as launch titles or early launch, are pretty lame now considering the caliber of titles we have now. Kinda like how the first resistance is a now a pretty bad game.
At the time though, Lair was great, and you could probably pick it up for like 15$ or something.
@Slagathorian: Even if Lair came out as a launch game it would have been bad. And it was bad in 2007 when there were Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Folklore and Warhawk around as exclusives, not to mention multiplats like CoD4 and Orange Box.
Muddy graphics, frustrating controls (I don't mean the Sixaxis, I think that's fine actually. I mean the actual controls, especially the targeting system), maddening level design, insane bullshit difficulty, the list goes on.
And what makes worse is how much potential the game had. If it was done right (open-world, more dragons, RPG elements, being able to get off the dragon, better graphics, better targeting system, better level design) it could still be a AAA even by today's standards.
HOLY AWESOME! but, will there be as much lag as other remote play games?
I've been playing Bionic Commando Rearmed with remote play, and holy crap is it even harder. I'm trying to beat it all over again on hard with the remote play lag just because I'm a glutton for punishment.
@FWM: must be more responsible: From what I hear, the lag is actually surprisingly well-managed. You won't be doing any high-level tournament play on the PSP, but it's still perfectly playable as a game.
Why spend an extra $200 to $500 on a brand new phone to get this feature, when you can use one of these programs and get this feature now on your existing smartphone?
There are a few things that are interesting that didn't get any mentions in the press release.
Under Design, it says "Auto Rotate" and under Entertainment "Motion Gaming" is listed, does that mean this device has an accelerometer? If so, that's pretty sweet. Is it a smart phone? Would love to know that, not a huge deal, but would be a cool feature.
That actually seems quite nice. Too bad I refuse to pay for any of the major carriers data plans. Call me cheap, but I can't really justify ending up with a cell phone bill that errs on the north side of $100 a month.

Just don't expect to play it online against someone who's not in the same building as you.
