Nintendo really needs more good games like these for the Wii and DS. Too much of what is available is junk.

And i felt SOMETHING was a little off, i'm not sure what it was. The music is great and the art style is pretty good, I liked a lot the controls except for the camera movement. In theory i liked almost everything and still it felt kinda odd to me.
Anyway this, de Blob, Disaster and Trauma Center (i'm late to the party) have been probably the most entertaining games i've played on the wii this year, not counting smash and mario kart.

An RPG doesn't have to be difficult to be a hardcore game because you'll usually have to invest a good deal of time into it to fully enjoy it and it's story. A FPS will usually be hardcore because it will take skill and precision to accurately overcome your opponents. Platformers will be hardcore if they have fairly difficult puzzles/enviroments or deeper mechanics that take some kind of invested time to enjoy.

I just wanted to point out how much the bar for hardcore games moved since 80s..If I had to, I would compare it to punk. Bands now called as the pure punk (Pennywise? NOFX?) were the most poppy punk bands just 10 years ago..
I see your point and I agree with that, but I just find funny to see games like De Blob being marked as the 'hardcore' ones even though noone would dare to call them hardcore just few years ago(ok, since the wii came out)

So far, I think it's just alright. I give it roundabouts an 8/10.
My main beef is that the camera controls are inverted and you can't change it.
It wouldn't be that big of a problem usually, but you're CONSTANTLY having to adjust the camera. It's especially a pain when you have to do some particularly precise platforming. The combination of my personal inability to grasp the backwards camera + constantly having to babysit it actually has made me feel motion sick a couple of times.
I also found the actual combat system to be rather dull. It's weird. You'd think it would have a lot of depth to it when you first start playing, but it's ultimately very shallow feeling.
The whole game overall has a very...like, "slick" motion to it. I have trouble explaining what I mean...but it particularly makes the combat seem very lifeless.
I dunno. I could write 5 paragraphs trying to explain what I mean and it would still only make sense to me!
But overall, I enjoy the game quite a bit when it's not making me want to toss my cookies. It's not as good as Zelda or Okami, but it damn well tries it's best and it's ultimately pretty enjoyable.

More or less dull combat than No More Heroes' combat system? A lot of people have criticized NMH's combat as being dull, but I found it to be pretty fun. If it's around the same level of "dullness," I think I might enjoy it. :P

Maybe it's because I don't play it as much, but probably because all the games feel last-gen.

Also for the discounts ALONE, it's worth keeping Gamefly going. You'll never set foot in a GameStop again buying from Gamefly.

So thats 3 good hardcore Wii games this year.
De Blob, No More Heroes and this.

Funny how you consider De Blob hardcore, but not Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros., Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero 4. Oh, that's right. You don't actually own a Wii so you wouldn't know the good games it has. You're just a product of popular opinion and will say whatever you think will get you the most cred, yo. So just do yourself a favor and close your mouth; your ignorance is showing.

I played Mario Kart Wii when it was on N64 / Gamecube. I pay money for NEW games, not rehashes.
Super Smash Brothers, arguably hardcore. The online play completely blows, and theres only so much to unlock.
Guitar Hero 4 / Rock Band 2 = not hardcore, AND multi-console, so its not even considered.
The Wii is a kids system, with kiddie games. The popular games get ported to it, but theres not much being made specifically for Wii that are good and "hardcore". I was even let down by Zelda/Mario , which were way too easy / repetitive to really enjoy.

Traded Mass Effect in for Astro Boy Omega Effect, Drill Dozer, and Jet Set Radio Future. Much happier after that.

Haha, no you didn't.
