I read the original version in my RSS reader, and I just wanted to say that it was made rather clear that the opening lines were a joke. It boiled down to "You can only see Bill on the DS because there is no voice, lol!"
Still, thanks for the honest impressions of the work-in-progress.
I haven't really liked anything Ghostbusters up to this point (the first movie was okay). There. I said it. Took me a couple of decades, but now it's out. While I'm at it, I guess I'll admit to never liking the GTA franchise and being disappointed with Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 was disappointing mostly in that the VATS turned based system just visually looks fucking weird when applied to real-time combat, and all the humour the series is known for didn't make its appearance til the very end.
Also, not enough optional encounters that were "awesome" - all the interesting stuff was saved for the main story. One of the nice things about Fallout was able to go off on a tangent.
"One of the nice things about Fallout was able to go off on a tangent."
Also one of the nice things about Elder Scrolls. This is why Fallout 3 surprised/disappointed me. Living in backwards world could actually bode well for Ghostbusters.
What they should have done if they were going the Cartoonish route, was used the same art style and voice actors as that of the "Real Ghostbusters" cartoon. and made it a completely different game under the label.
Most ghostbuster fans loved the cartoon (myself included) and they just released the DVD Box set, so its in many peoples minds right now. Instead of trying to mimic the PS3 and 360 games it'd be something else entirely. That would get me to buy both versions in a heartbeat. I'm a Ghostbusters Mark through and through
I was a bit worried but now, after reading the Escapist hands on, im both confident in the Wii and the DS (Cannon Fodder like) version of the game. Sure the graphics are not on match with the other versions, but the witty dialogue is there and we do get to trhow out traps by wiimote waggling.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: the Wii just can't do what 360 and PS3 can do in terms of memory space. This means the levels can't be huge sprawling multi-hour investments with half a hundred checkpoints.
I've seen this statement, or a variation of it, repeated ad nauseum, but I simply don't believe it to be true... for the most part.
Aside from graphics, I don't see why the Wii wouldn't be able to do what the other systems do for the vast majority of games. It seems to me levels are smaller, more compact, in the current generation of gaming than they were in the last. Compare the new Liberty City to San Andreas. The Wii can certainly outperform the PS2, hell the Gamecube outperformed the PS2, so large open areas should not be a problem.
Sure, if there's a lot of onscreen artifacts (Hi Dead Rising!) the Wii version may require more than a graphical underhaul, but level design? Come on!
I doubt I'll buy this game, but if I did it would likely be on the Wii. Why would you want to hunt ghosts and NOT use the Wii-mote? As for the force unleashed, yeah that game was better on Wii.
Nice to see its getting its own version, I was always planning for the PS3 version though seeing as thats the lead dev platform for the main ghostbusters game, if the Wii version turns out well I might give it a go, seeing as theres nothing wrong with more ghostbusters
Oh AJ, I can tell that you're not a rabid Ghostbusters fan. "Echo-1" ... tsk tsk. It should be "Ecto-1". And as other people have stated here, Bill Murray is in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the new Ghostbusters game doing voice work and whatnot. Did you mean that the DS title is the only Ghostbusters game that we can actually play Bill Murray's character, Peter Venkman?
I had never really thought of it like this but recently at IGN I saw something similar happen, where the article obviously had not been fact-checked at all, and another commenter put it perfectly. There are plenty of very capable and willing young writers that would KILL to be writing here, or wherever, that would proofread/care about their article.
Obviously, this isn't a fireable offense or anything like that, and honestly, it's not a huge deal, but it just makes it more apparent that standard journalist practices need to be implemented even at the games press. I read my local newspaper's website regularly and have never seen anything written be outright false.
Cmon Kotaku. Echoing that IGN commenter, there are a lot of writers out there that would do their job. Give them a shot.
Yeah, it pains me some days to read certain articles on here that are chock full of spelling errors and grammar mishaps. I know it's a blog and all, but a lot of people read this blog ... so you would think that there's a lot of proofreading and whatnot, especially since many corporations sponsor this site. It certainly doesn't ever make my blood boil enough for me to pull the some grammar/spelling nazi bullshit in the comments ... although this article today has nearly given me a heart attack.

Be right back, just hoarding whiskey to help with the inevitable disappointment...

I prefered the one on SEGA Mastersystem.
Conglaturation, you have finished a great game.
It really was. I used to play that game a lot. In fact, I think I might go beat it again right now.

Who you gonna call?
Wiibusters!
Ok sorry that was very lame...

Have Space Invaders Get Even to get back to one of these days.
House of the Dead Overkill will be out soon.
Wii Sports
Always more time for Metal Slug Anthology.
Tetris Party needs some love.
Mega Man 9
Replaying Prince of Persia Sands of Time.
Much more.
So yes, I'm still playing it.
Sadly my Xbox 360 isn't getting much except for Panzer Dragoon. Nothing on PS3.
DS takes up the rest of the free time. PC with Fallout 3, World of Goo, and Peggle the rest.
