I'm not a big fan of the IRS or anything, but it amuses me that most people hate the IRS simply because of old jokes and TV shows/movies.
Do you have a better idea to support the government and all the services it provides for us, including the safety that allows us to live our daily lives? Perhaps the government should just print extra money, right? lol.
Or maybe, there should be an honor system. We all put the taxes we owe into a box anonymously, because we know that people would always follow that system.
@Giggers: Flat tax FTW... People shouldn't be taxed exorbitant amounts for money that's in their family to STAY in their family. Yet, that's exactly what happens.
Not that this matters to me personally. I don't stand to inherit much of anything except some of the life insurance that will be split among 3 children (after funerals are paid off) which may help me a bit with my student loans, but won't exactly make me rich.
@bobtheduck: flat tax? yeah, it'll work out really well when people already below the poverty line have to pay a flat percentage of their income to the government. There's a reason it's scaled now- if you barely make enough to keep a roof over your head you don't have an extra ten percent or whatever to give to the IRS. There was a point in my life when I made so little I owed no tax, and if I had, it would have come down to "pay rent or pay taxes" since I had no disposable income at all. That's normal for a lot of people in this country.
@Giggers: Because sales tax disproportionately affects people with smaller paychecks, since more of their pay is spent purchasing?
Income and inheritance taxes collect from large pools of money which would otherwise not be in circulation. And considering how much money you have to have to even qualify for the inheritance tax, I don't really have any sympathy for anyone affected by it - boo hoo, Meghan McCain might have to get a job (not really. She'll just have survive on half of more money than your entire extended family will ever see in all their lives, combined, times a million.)
@Mario Medial: That would actually be far more effective. Second Life holds far less interest than porn for the vast majority of Americans (and nerds).
@masterdingo: except most nerds (and most Americans) don't buy porn anymore. Why would you? I know of 4 free porn video sites, and I'm sure there are 108x more than that. Who would pay for porn in this day and age?
.
Now if the IRS started putting ads on those free video sites, they may have something.
@Bialia: Mario had ears and a tail at one point, too... You calling Mario a Furry, or just an opportunist, not willing to pass by an opportunity to get the upper hand on Koopa. I choose to believe the latter.
I'm an active member of Second Life (pulling in considerable scratch selling casual games there) and even I think this is completely pants on head retarded.
Joker: "Why so serious, with your economic policy?"
Lastly,
Batman: "They told me there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since. I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... The IRS."
All that said, the best recruiting tool is probably the new $20,000 sign on bonus they give out now. Or is it $30,000? Even the National Guard gives it out. Pretty sweet if that's what you wanna do.
@The Forgetful Brain: Yeah, tell me about it. It seems a bit low for having to do what they do. People who serve should definitely earn more. $20 000 is peanuts.
That's the sign on bonus. It used to be a lot lower. I remember they raised it to $10,000 a couple years back and now it's 20 or 30. Who knows what it was before that...
All I know is that right when I walked into a National Guard base they have a huge check on the wall that says "$20,000" and "Your name here!". lol
@MooglesInMyFace: lol. I guess when you put it that way. A giant check is pretty sweet. I still think soldiers should get paid more.I couldn't even begin to imagine what they have to face and all they endure on a daily basis.
@ZackRI: The second America's Army covered the coveted Special Forces 18-series field MOS (Military Occupational Specialty), while also featuring various Soldiers that were noted for certain events that occured in Operations Enduring Freedom AND Iraqi Freedom.
Looking at the game in review, the game was fun, but I never remembered MOUT training being what they showed on there. (Then again, when did I expect a game to be 100% real?)
No less, AA2 exists and should still be available for download.

There are only two things certain in Second Life:
Yiffing and taxes.

@Slust:
This isn't a demotivational, but I may as well put in this Facepalm.jpg I made in Notepad. :P
Also, the size might possibly be a lil' too small (Until this post comes for viewing), but, who cares?

I know, I know. Haha. Surprisingly tho, it's a pretty good tactical shooter. It's closer to Rainbow Six: Ravenshield than it is Call of Duty 4.
