Little metal Nintendo characters, little sharp pin, you stick them on your jacket/bag/hat. Standard stuff. Oh, except for the fact they contain unsafe levels of lead. Before you plan a trip to your doctor's/lawyer's office, however, note that they're only dangerous if you swallow them, not wear them, so unless you've been snacking on lapel pins between Smash Bros rounds, you'll probably live to see the morning. If you are snacking on them, though, and would like pins less likely to cause serious health issues, Nintendo are recalling them and offering free replacements. Details below.

<![CDATA[ Criterion Recalls 360 Burnout Bogart Update ]]> bogartpatch.jpg Criterion Games is in the process of recalling the recently released Bogart update for the Xbox 360 version of Burnout Paradise, with all updated version due to be rolled back by this Friday. The recall is due to a issue in the patch that cause the frame rate of the game to suffer, noticeably stuttering at high speed, which really are the only speeds in Burnout you need to concern yourself with. The patch is due to be reissued next week, with all of the promised fixes in place. Meanwhile the Criterion blog continues to count down to the PlayStation 3 release of the Bogart patch, slated for release tomorrow. Kudos to Criterion for rolling things back rather than having players suffer through issues while waiting for a patch for the patch.

<![CDATA[ Card Fighters Nightmare Finally Over ]]> cardfightersbox.jpgAt last the saga of the defective SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters DS is at an end. The exchange program web page over at SNK Playmore has gone live, and owners of the card with the game-stopping glitch can now send in their broken copies and have them miraculously replaced with all new, all complete-able versions of the card battler.

Users must first register their game with the website, which everyone does with every game they buy anyway *cough*. Then you fill out an online form, print it, and mail it in along with only the game card, Replacements begin shipping on July 1st on a first-come, first-serve basis. I'd urge you to hurry, but you've already been waiting nearly over two months anyway. If you haven't given up by now, what's a few more weeks?

<![CDATA[ Card Fighters Recall Update ]]> cardfighterbreak.jpgWell it's been almost a month and a half since SNK Playmore released the broken version of SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters for the DS, which included a game breaking bug that kept the game from being completed. Then on May 10th they announced a recall that would get underway at a later date. Today, more details on that date have emerged as Mark from SNK Playmore, who issued a statement to the anxiously waiting masses.
We have been informed by Nintendo of America that the manufacturing of the replacement cartridges will be available on June 25th. At that time, SNK will ship the cartridges from Japan to our facility in the US and begin the process of implementing the recall. We should be able to begin providing replacements cartridges the first or second week of July. Information regarding the procedure on returning your defective cartridge to SNK will be posted on our website in the near future. I will keep you updated.

Ouch. That places the new, fully working version of the games in player's hands roughly three months after they purchased them, but I suppose it's better than nothing. Stay strong, my Card Fighting brothers. Stay strong.

<![CDATA[ The New, New Wii Strap ]]>

Play Nintendo and Go Nintendo are both reporting on what appears to be a third Wii remote safety strap.

This latest one appears to be thicker, longer and (no, not uncut) has a better plastic doohickey for cinching the thing to your wrist. The plastic dealio on my current old-school break-away strap always slides down, so that's a nice improvement. What I don't like is that the new strap doesn't feature that coolio Wii console shape on the end, instead it's just a rounded plastic nub. Booo!

<![CDATA[ Nintendo Recalls Japanese DS AC Adapters ]]>

The Associated Press reports today that Nintendo announced the recall of 200,000 AC adapters for the DS and DS Lite portables in Japan.

The recall does not affect adapters overseas. Uh, oh. I hope Ashcraft didn't leave his Pink DS Lite plugged in when he went on vacation.

<![CDATA[ PSP Battery Recall ]]> lavaflow.jpg

The PSP's Pelican Power Brick battery charger is being recalled due to potential hazard overheating. The non-Sony accessory gets hot enough to cause the battery's plastic to melt and poses as a fire threat. The Power Brick is comprised of two lithium-ion batteries mounted on plastic housing and connected via circuit board.

These chargers were available at American retailers from April 2005 right up to last month for US $20 a pop. During that period, there has been over 140 reports of overheating, one report of fire and fortunately, no injuries. And you thought your 360 got hot?

<![CDATA[ Site Calls for Recall of Madden 06 PSP ]]> joma.jpg

The masses are none too happy about how buggy the PSP version of Madden 06 is. The purpose of MaddenRecall is to do just that. They want EA to issue a full recall of the game and fix it. Sadly, the founders of the site think that the developer is beholden to John Madden and the NFL, while I m pretty sure it s the other way around. Power to the players and all that jazz, head on over and make your voice be heard.

<![CDATA[ Sony Doesn't Want to Hurt You ]]> Slimline1.jpg

Console giant Sony has issued a recall on AC adaptors for its slimline PlayStation 2. The AC adaptors overheat and may burn users. The recall is a "precautionary" measure and at press time we haven't heard any reports of gamers' hands being barbecued. Sony set up a site to aid with the free recall process. Don't let anyone tell you Sony doesn't love you.
