Sure, the Quantum of Solace movie is getting a mixed buzz, but that hasn't dampened our interest in the QoS game. The Activision title runs on a modded Call of Duty 4 engine, which just sounds great. We can already hear the Bond theme in our head. We always here it, you know — especially when we walk around our local shopping mall in sunglasses.

<![CDATA[Quantum of Solace Shows Off Watermelon Killing]]> Wow, check out the Gallagher watermelon smashing physics in this game. Amazing. Fortunately they added that, because otherwise it would have looked a bit like a bland shooter that was developed using a check list. Blind fire: Check. Cover: Check. Take Downs: Check.

<![CDATA[Bond Song Coming to Guitar Hero World Tour]]> Reading through a press release about the upcoming Best Buy midnight opening launch event for Quantum of Solace, I stumbled upon this interesting tidbit:

Additionally, those in line at 10:00 PM will get the exclusive opportunity to be one of the first to play the Bond song “Another Way to Die” performed by Jack White and Alicia Keys which is soon-to-be-released as downloadable content for Activision’s Guitar Hero® World Tour.

I kinda like the song. It would be great if they released this as a freebie, but there’s not even a hint of that, so I’ll just hold my breath until they make it so. Annnnnd GO…..

<![CDATA[Quantum of Solace: The Golden Gun is Back?]]>
This is the new launch trailer for the Quantum of Solace game, but, more intriguing, it pays homage to the Roger Moore-era classic The Man with the Golden Gun. This video features a suspicious golden hand held weapon that looks as if it kills with one shot. We'll have to wait for some hands on time to see what they've done with the multiplayer, but running on the Call of Duty 4 engine, Bond has never looked better. The game is slated to release on November 4th for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PC, and DS.

The best Bond since Goldeneye? We've heard it before, but hey, it's always possible...

<![CDATA[New James Bond: Quantum of Solace Behind the Scenes Trailer Talks Environments]]>
Just as the title says, this latest video from Activision talks about how the developers are translating the environments from the film to the game. Unfortunately, there isn't much to see here in terms of gameplay, and interestingly there seems to be a lot of footage from the last movie. You can expect the game out about two weeks before the movie November 4th.

<![CDATA[Quantum Of Solace Gets Smidgen Of Bonus]]> The new James Bond tie-in, Quantum Of Solace will be hitting the shelves on November 4th in both PS3 and 360 flavors.

If the money is burning a hole in your debit card, you can pre-order to get some bonus swag.

Best Buy are offering an unspecial — though pleasant — $10 rebate. Gamestop are holding out a carrot in the form of a special multiplayer map.

Yes, it is a bit meagre. Probably all part of the all-new 'realistic' Bond. If Roger Moore was still doing them you could probably get a gas gun, a mini submarine and some xray specs.

<![CDATA[Bond Devs Sing Praises of Call of Duty 4 Engine]]>
So, upcoming Quantum of Solace runs on the modded Call of Duty 4 engine — and hey, not bad. The addition of cover seems most welcomed. Just remember you are Bond. You are Bond.

<![CDATA[Another Behind the Scenes Look at 007 Quantum of Solace]]>
Be the man every woman wants and every man wants to be. While that's a pretty cool tagline for the new Quantum of Solace I still can't get over the fact that every Bond game since Goldeneye has been less than, well, Goldeneye. This is obviously not new news in any form or fashion, but come on people! we the gamers demand James Bond goodness! Hopefully Quantum of Solace will deliver what we've all been longing for.

<![CDATA[Behind the Scenes on 007 the Quantum of Solace]]>
James Bond 22 the Quantum of Solace is coming! It's the first original Bond film starring Daniel Craig and no 007 would be complete without his game counter part. In these videos we see how TreyArch visited the movie sets as well as how they were able to capture the likenesses of all the actors. More videos after the jump.

<![CDATA[The Activision Presser, With Special Guest German Guy]]> Isn't he dreamy? This, ladies and gentlemen, is Thomas Godoj, winner of the fifth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, which is essentially the German version of American Idol. I'm told that, unlike the American contestants, Godoj here actually has musical talent. I would have come to our country's defense but come on - Taylor Hicks? Really? I bet he couldn't belt out Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" near as well as Thomas did, which is exactly how Activision's Games Convention 2008 press conference came to an end...but how did it begin?

It actually began rather nicely, considering I was passing by the front of the mob as they began letting people in, making me one of the few...the proud...the seated. Of course I was seated in such a way that the teleprompter was in the face of just about everyone I took a picture of, but boy was that seat comfortable.

The conference kicked off with a recorded video of the woman who does the voice of the Black Cat in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows welcoming us to the press conference, which confused me a bit as I could think of several other people more suited for the duty who were actually there. Then came a series of trailers...Spider-Man: WoS, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Call of Duty: World at War, the theatrical trailer for James Bond: Quantum of Solace.

Then Joerg Trovvain, Activision's VP of European publishing took the stage, telling us all how pleased Activision Blizzard was to have the Blizzard part of them in attendance. He speaks on the importance of online gaming - a $6 billion industry last year poised to become an $8 million industry this year, and of course most of that goes to Blizzard.

We see a trailer for The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of Dragon, which gives me happy little shivers as I dream of better Spyro games past, and then things go all formulaic on us. Central European VP Xochilt Balzola-Widmann shows us the trailer and talks up Call of Duty: World at War, mentioning COD4 as many times as possible to try and get us to think of both on the same level. Her accept is adorable...she says they have a "gorgeous boof". I want a gorgeous boof too.

She shows a behind-the-scenes clip from Star Wars: Clone Wars, which features George Lucas, who really shouldn't be allowed to comment on the Star Wars properties ever again at this point. I just can't take the guy seriously.

Then comes the formulaic "Here's X to show you Y" bits of the presser. The Co-designer of James Bond: Quantum of Solace comes on to talk about the game, announcing that they've signed on the original cast as well as some of the cast members from Casino Royale to provide voices and likenesses, and then shows us a gameplay clip that had me scribbling "Gears of Solace" in my notebook. Cover system, running and gunning, button-pressing moments, etc.

Next in the parade is Daniel Suarez from Treyarch, telling us about Gary Oldman joining the cast of Call of Duty: World at War, talking up the title and showing us some gameplay footage that completely fails to impress us nearly as much as COD4 originally did, but at least there's plenty of blood.

We get a few announcements about Guitar Hero: World Tour, namely the Wii Mii Freestyle mode and PS3 Rock Band compatibility, and then we get to Brian Bright, the project director at Neversoft for the title, who comes on stage to show off the music creator mode in exhaustive detail, and I do mean exhaustive. The creator looks very interesting and I can't wait to get my hands on it, but fifteen minutes of explaining it to a crowd who weren't there specifically to learn about it seemed a bit overboard. If only they had a German pop idol who could spice things up a bit...

All in all not a bad showing. A few nice announcements, some interesting gameplay footage, and a finale that had anyone not from Germany smiling and nodding in time to the music to avoid revealing that they had no earthly clue who Thomas Godoj was. Now we know!

<![CDATA[Quantum of Solace Pooh Poohs Bourne Video Game]]> Bond game Quantum of Solace stars movie Bond Daniel Craig. The Bourne game does not star Matt Damon. It stars some dude. Quantum of Solace dev Garrett Young chimes in about his thoughts about that:

The Bourne movies I think are really good. I think a lot of people maybe thought they were maybe better than the Bond movies until Casino Royale. The Bourne game... we did download the demo, we did look at it, like we do anything that's new and coming out. Turok we played and other things that are new, we played GTA although that's not really in our space.

But... yeah... not super impressed with the game. No offence to those guys at all. We're actually now partners. They're kind of merged in with Activision, so now they're in San Diego. I haven't met them yet. I don't know anything about them at all. I hope their game does well. It's always tough though when you make a game and you don't have the lead character from the movie.

Yep, yep. The suspension of disbelief is obviously harder. If you're making a Bourne game, you need fucking Matt Damon.

<![CDATA[See James Bond In Quantum Of Solace]]>

James Bond may have taken a digital breather on Casino Royale, but Daniel Craig fans will finally get to play as the super buff super spy in Treyarch's Quantum of Solace. Oh, sure, the name is horrid, but the gameplay could be a silky smooth experience, given that Quantum of Solace is built on the Call of Duty 4 engine. That means there will be plenty of shooting, but Treyarch's take on Bond adds some variety with stealth gameplay and "quick time events." Damn it, Shenmue. I'll never forgive you for these.

<![CDATA[First Quantum Of Solace Screens]]> Here we have our first look at Activision's stab at the James Bond game, Quantum of Solace, based on the upcoming film of the same name. So far it looks exactly as one would expect...your standard FPS with 3rd person elements in which you play as a 3D model that bears a creepy resemblance to Daniel Craig. Aside from Craig's plastic mug, nothing much standing out here, though with EA leaving the bar set so low, average is actually a step up.
