According to Paul Nowosad, Marketing Director at TransGaming, an update is being submitted to the Apple Store this week. This "version 1.1" will fix the bug "as well as address some graphical issues."

Hit the jump for full details on the fix.

"Pretty much what happens is, as soon as people load up 1.1, they’ll have all their characters restored provided they didn’t delete that character to begin with," Paul said in a voicemail message. "For anybody right now who has one character [that's been deleted], it’s not an issue. If they had more than one character, they’re actually in the system, they’re just not able to be seen. If they were to delete a current character [after loading up 1.1], they would have access to the other one. The best thing to do is load in 1.1 version [and see which heroes show up]."

Version 1.1 of Puzzle Quest is being submitted to Apple as we speak, which means the official release for the patch is technically TBD. But it sounds like it won't be long now before I get my level 8 bard back.

<![CDATA[Problems With Puzzle Quest iPhone]]> Puzzle Quest is no stranger to gameplay bugs in any of its myriad releases, but the iPhone version deleting characters takes the cake for the “kick in the shins” category.

According to forum posts on touchArcade and my own awful experience on a six hour car ride, heroes are randomly deleted from the game. You’ll save a hero and quit out as per normal, but when you go back in and select Continue Quest or Change Hero, that character will be inexplicably gone. When this bug occurs, you cannot recreate the character because the game claims that the hero already exists – but no matter how many times you quit out and reload, you won’t ever get that hero back.

Calls to Puzzle Quest iPhone port handler Transgaming Technologies were not immediately returned, but touchArcade reports that the company is “looking into” the problem as well as into gripes about not being able to read the tutorial text.

Puzzle Quest for the iPhone was released December 23 for the App Store and retails for $9.99 USD. It’s the first of three installments for the Puzzle Quest series, with Chapter 2 to come “soon,” according to the original press release.

<![CDATA[Puzzle Quest PS3 Infected With Plague]]> Oh good, another platform to play Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords on, but why pick up the PlayStation 3 version when you've already played it on the PSP, PS2, Nintendo DS, or Wii? Why because you get to be a bard. D3 Publisher has revealed that the PS3 version of Puzzle Quest will be bundled with the Revenge of the Plague Lord expansion pack that hit the Xbox Live Arcade version back in July, which adds a whole new adventure to the game along with four new classes - Bard, Rogue, Ranger, and Warlock.

If you've not gotten a chance to play the update on the 360, I would highly suggest picking up the PS3 version and playing through again. The Bard in particular is an amazing class with some very interesting mechanics that ads a little more strategy to how you play the game.

<![CDATA[Oh Great, Puzzle Quest Hitting iPhone]]> I don't need to be able to play Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords on anything else, okay? It's already eaten away at my life on the DS, PSP, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, mobile phone, and PC to the point where every month I have at least one Puzzle Quest-related dream. Now TransGaming has announced their expansion into the Apple portable space with Puzzle Quest for the iPhone / iPod Touch.

“It has been a wild and exciting ride for us at D3Publisher to watch Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords progress from a unique release on handheld platforms to one of the most beloved puzzle game franchises of today, raising demand from gamers everywhere to be able to play it on their platform of choice,” said Yoji Takenaka, President and Chief Executive Officer of North America and Europe, D3Publisher.

Gah! I just want to hug this man and punch him at the same time, but not as much as Crecente, who actually contacted both companies and harassed them about making the port. Thanks, Brian. Look for Puzzle Quest to hit the iPhone and iPod Touch later this fall, at which point I will begin spending all my time in the bathroom.

<![CDATA[Puzzle Quest For PS3 To Bedazzle At Tokyo Game Show]]> Well, that took 'em long enough. According to D3Publisher's list of upcoming Tokyo Game Show wares, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords appears to officially be due for a bow on the PlayStation 3. We knew it was coming, but D3 has been unusually quiet on the game, especially considering its been whored around to just about every platform under the sun. The game's release date is still listed as "TBA," a condition we hope is cured by the time TGS rolls around.

Now about Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, D3....

<![CDATA[Week in Games: A Welcome Break Edition]]> All good things must come to an end, and this week apparently marks the end of the amazing flood of great titles we've had over the last month. This week's offerings (with a few exceptions) are a bit lackluster which is probably fine by most people's bank accounts. Due to a long trip, I'll be concentrating on some overdue handheld action and I'm plenty thankful that there is nothing this week that is just begging to be purchased.

Shadowgrounds Survivor (PC)
Fight against aliens for control of the planet.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies (DS)
Now smaller and with multiplayer!

Boogie (DS)
Dance the night away on your DS.

Omega Five (XBLA)
A new sidescrolling shooter on LIVE.

Cruis'n (WII)
Racing to the Wii.

Cranium Kabookii (WII)
The board game in video game form.

Master of Illusion (DS)
Learn magic tricks. Fun at parties, fool your friends.

Speedball 2 - Tournament (PC)
Future sports hurt.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (WII)
The insanely addictive RPG puzzle game continues it's system wide dominance.

Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey (PC)
You know you want it.

<![CDATA[Puzzle Quest PC Finally Released]]> Despite the release of Orange Box and Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP yesterday, I spent the afternoon playing a game I've already completely played through on two different handhelds, and while Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is every bit as impressive on the 360 as it was in pocket form (multiplayer impressions: knights are assholes), we mustn't forget the platform that gave us the first taste of the game. In a rather bizarre move, D3 released a PC demo of the game to help promote the DS and PSP versions. Well now seven months later those PC gamers who were viciously teased by said demo can finally pick up the full game via the GamersGate download service for $19.99. As one of the game's biggest fans, I nearly downloaded it myself before common sense finally kicked in.

<![CDATA[Puzzle Quest Coming To Wii, Too]]> D3 Publisher is on a mission to port its sleeper surprise hit Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords to every platform under the sun. Following releases on the PSP and Nintendo DS as well as forthcoming Xbox Live Arcade and PC releases, a Wii version is expected this fall if a recent listing at retailer Amazon is correct. Given that it features Wii-specific box art, I'll estimate that correctness at 99.44%.

The best part? The budgety price. Let's hope that sticks.

<![CDATA[Puzzle Quest DS Impressions]]>

I love this game, and that's dangerous in a handheld title.

I find myself walking around with the DS Lite in my pocket just looking for an opportunity to play Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords. Like using the bathroom, going some where to stand in line, "watching" TV with my wife.

(See I just played for an hour)

This is going to get me in trouble.

Puzzle Quest blends a sort of Bejeweled knock-off with a role-playing game theme to deliver something that is altogether different and fun.

To start the game you create a character who will be one of four different classes. Each class gets different bonuses while playing through a puzzle. They also unlock different spells as they level up.

Once in a single player game you roam around a map looking for quests, which is essentially a way to get you matched up with different opponents with varying special skills, spells and difficulty.

The actual battle is played out in Bejeweled format. You move gems and such around to get three or more in a row matches. Matching up skulls delivers damage. Gold gives you gold. Purple spikey things gives you experience and the rest gives you one of four types of mana.

You use this mana to cast spells that can effect the playing field, heal, deal damage, all sorts of things. It's tons of fun. The only thing I don't like is that multiplayer is limited to local support and has no WiFi. Dammit!
