<![CDATA[ Pac-Man, Dots and Clyde ]]> Pumpkins galore, Halloween has started! Reader Ben provides us with not one, but four (count 'em) pumpkins: Pac-Man, two pellets and Clyde (well, it is an orange ghost). He writes:

They were carved with love for all games old school.

Is that a marshmallow on a tooth pic for Pac-Man's eye? If not, let's pretend it is. ]]>

<![CDATA[ Metroid Pumpkin Glows, Might Eat Your Head ]]> I know, some of you are getting sick of the pumpkins, but just remember, in one more day they'll be gone forever. Reader Christopher sent in his beautiful Metroid pumpkin along with several pics of the construction process. While we would never question the talents of such an Artist, what's the general consensus on power tool use in pumpkin carving? Is harnessing electricity considered, dare we say, cheating, in some circles?

<![CDATA[ Sonic-o'-lantern ]]> The glowing orb speaks of itself. Let's hear what its creator —-___—__-_ - has to say:

i gotta say, seeing mario, zelda, master chief, toadstool, amaterasu from okami and others' likeness carved into big orange vegetables, I had to make a pumpkin creation with sonic's mug on it, mind you this is the sonic of old side scrolling style, not the abhoration of new school iterations, anyhow, thanks for making me excited about halloween again

That's what we do, make people Halloween kurazy. This isn't nearly as scary as the thought of Sonic losing to Mario in that Wii Olympics game. Thanks for the delightful pumpkin! We hope the folks at UK:R totally steal this amazing Sonic related non-news. ]]>

<![CDATA[ The Halo-Ween Pumpkin ]]> Kotakuite Dennis R. sends in this Halo themed pumpkin with a terribly clever play on words included. It was a father/son project and apparently Dennis is really excited by this particular pumpkin. Says Dennis:

Waking up to this is about as entertaining as waking up to Angliena Jolie in your room, asking you what you would want to have for breakfast, whilst wearing an insy winsy yellow polka dot bikini. Think about it for a second.... now look at the pumpkin.... see where I'm going with this?

Now, I might not be into women or bikinis, but even I would rather be faced with Angelina in the morning than a pumpkin since a pumpkin can't bring you breakfast, but that's just me. Still, cool jack o' lantern and a fine addition to our collection.

<![CDATA[ WoW Pumpkin Makes Us Say WOW! ]]> It wouldn't be an October day on Kotaku without a game pumpkin. So to that end I bring you this amazing World of Warcraft inspired pumpkin brought to you courtesy our friends at Wired. You know, I was starting to get pretty jaded with the whole Jack O' Lantern thing given the avalanche of pictures we've been getting lately, but this one is quite impressive. Wow, indeed!

<![CDATA[ RRoD Is Truly Frightening ]]> This, yes this, is what we've been waiting for: The Red Ring of Death jack-o'-lantern. According to reader Zhao:

Every gamer's worst nightmare... the center fell out and had to be taped *cries due to lack of skill*

It's like the mouth of Hell. ]]>

<![CDATA[ Smashing Xbox 360 Pumpkin Stencils ]]> We've been on a bit of a pumpkin tear lately and someone at the Microsoft corporation noticed. They've passed on their own approved designs for your festive fall gourd artistry. If you're a Halloween celebrating gamer who's got carver's block, these helpful Xbox themed Jack O' Lantern stencils will do right by you when showing your console allegiance. The only thing to keep in mind when displaying your J O' Lantern(TM) is to ensure that you fill them with glow sticks of the green variety. Front porches decorated with red (or orange) rings of death is nothing short of a PR disaster.

<![CDATA[ Another Awesome Zelda Pumpkin ]]> Our own Luke Plunkett will be so jealous when he sees that the day shift got to post this beautiful pumpkin of his beloved cel-shaded Link. There's something about combining the pure act of pumpkin carving with the innocent Zelda storyline that warms our hearts almost enough to see in color and believe in miracles. Almost. Reader Nick writes:

This is how my girlfriend and I started out the Halloween season, with two of our favorite characters Jack and Link.
Hit the jump for the slightly less game related but still amazing, Jack.

<![CDATA[ Pyramid Head Pumpkin ]]> Kotakuites, Silent Hill fans and rockin' rockers Brookhaven Hospital decided to have a good old fashioned pumpkin slaughtering and this was the result. A Pyramid Head pumpkin that reeks of pure awesomeness. I know we've had some good jack o' lanterns here in the past week, but this one really speaks to me. It says "Kill everyone now."

My girlfriend made this great set of two pumpkins featuring Katamari and the Prince! Hope it tickles your fancy!

Oh, yes. Fancy tickled!

The only reason I love this pumpkin is because I can pretend that the second image is actually of Pikachu ablaze, screaming his little heart out as his neon yellow fuz turns to ash and his obviously pink skin blisters.

<![CDATA[ The Other Mario Pumpkin ]]>

Ashcraft keeps prodding our readers into barbaric acts of pumpkin vandalism with his game-themed pumpkin posts. Every time he posts a picture somewhere a pumpkin dies, the relief of a video game character carved into its chest.

Above, the latest victim a pumpkin carved in two hours by reader Brandon. "My friends said I couldn't make one so I had to prove them wrong."

<![CDATA[ UPDATE: NBA's Arenas a Big, Fat Halo Cheater ]]> gilberttalks.jpg

It's one thing to cheat at blogging, but quite another to cheat at Halo 3.

While we're not certain Gilbert Arenas is cheating to up his in-game stats, it certainly looks that way and a whole bunch of Bungie forum-goers agree.

Look at all his games that he gets 1st place in. He joins up with a friend and has his other account quit out so he gets 1st place every time. How can this be allowed?

Checking out his stat page you can see that he does play an awful lot of Social Doubles and always ends in first place. Oh and that the lifespan of many of his "matches" is under five seconds.

gahalo.JPG

Hey Arenas, I hate to break it to you, but matching and dumping just pumps up your experience, it doesn't do a thing for your Rank. To boost that you're going to have to actually play a game. Hit me up at Gamertag Crecente anytime so I can show you what a teabag is.

NBA player Gilbert Arenas cheating at Halo 3 [Bungie Halo 3 Forums]

Update: The Washington Post got Arenas to fess up.

It's a glitch," he explained. "It's a glitch in the game. I seen some kids that were like 600s, they won 600 Halo games and we only had that game for two weeks. And all the kids go to school. So I'm like, 'What the hell you all doing?' And they said that's what they doing, two-on-two."

And Bungie has released this official statement to Kotaku:

"As Gilbert Arenas himself admitted, his EXP is suspect. What isn't suspect, however, is his skill level, a far better gauge of a player's ability than the grinding of EXP. He is a level 42, which is pretty exceptional, especially considering all of the time he's likely putting into grinding."

Skill level? One word Arenas: Teabag

<![CDATA[ Metroid Pumkins Attack Georgia Farm ]]>

Mark writes to say he and a friend stumbled upong a mishapen pumpkin that bears a striking resemblance to Samus Aran's gunship from Super Metroid while navigating the vine-strewn dirt paths of Burt's Pumpkin Patch in Dawsonville, Georgia. Hmmm, sorta. I hope Mark bought the thing and plans to carve it up so it looks just right.
