The PlayStation Portable Buyer's Guide
PSPgo Traveler Case Micro Review: Stylish and Sleek

11/25/09
This is the best list of good PSP games I have seen on teh internets so far:

Copy here:

As for my recommendations:
1. Lumines
2. Wipeout Pure
3. Burnout Legends
4. God of War: Chains of Olympus
5. Super Stardust Portable
6. Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony
7. Tekken Dark Resurrection
8. Daxter
9. Crush
10. Mercury
Most of those are from early PSP era - and they still are the best there are. Which tells you a lot about PSP lineup, by the way.
Not sure if they all have PSPGo versions, though.

Dont buy one.
Youre welcome!

I have 2 PSPs, and a ton of UMDs. The GO is a waste. Youre stuck only buying games from Sony's online store, and only paying the prices Sony dictates on the limited variety of games available. Why do that when you can have a regular PSP and buy used games or games on sale for cheap. Trade with friends and borrow their games. So much more flexibility

Of course, I got the first one for 60 bucks, so it wasn't like I bought two full priced systems.

-Ability to connect a bluetooth headset
-Ability to use a PS3 Sixaxis controller to revisit some old games.
Those in itself has made my PSP experience much better. The fact that I could use my own NON Sony branded bluetooth for Skype was excellent.
The PS3 controller paired with the Video cables allowed me to bring "Console" like gaming to a hotel room. I was able to play FF7 again like how I did 10 years ago.
Sure the Go has HUGE disadvantages... but think hard... the disadvantages that the Go has are all easily remedied if Sony just pulled their head out of the ass. Get what it takes to get all PSP games on the PSN, lower the retail price to be the same as the PSP3000 and drop the PSP3000 down a bit, and finally sell an accessory to play UMD discs.

Why?
Because it would've added a considerable feature to a portable system that already great as a gaming system, but sub-par as a PMP. Not on compatibility, or features, but on aesthetics.
Let's look at it this way. The iPhone and iTouch is already a great PMP. That was merely translated from what was done on the iPod. Now that the device has games and apps from their online store, it's becoming a big player in the gaming scene. But Apple still focused on what made the iTouch and iPhone great, and merely added games as a bonus. It's a PMP/phone first, and a gaming device second. I prefer actual buttons and joysticks to the icons that appear on the touch screen, and all titles have to compensate because of that. Hence, Apple games may not control as well, or as comfortably, compared to pure gaming systems.
Now for the PSPgo, it was already established as a great gaming system, and now with it's own app store, it's becoming an even better gaming system in the digital distribution age, but as a PMP, it's sadly still stuck in the yesteryear. I've tried the PSPgo, and I can tell you right now that it's functionality as a PMP will annoy the hell out of me, because I have to control everything through the front and shoulder buttons. That is not aesthetically pleasing.
With a touch screen, you could view movies and listen to music without having to open the system to access anything. This would've been a big boon for the PSP while still retaining it's main function as an actual gaming system. Plus, any new games for the PSPgo could use the touch screen for added functionality. Sony would have to just indicate whether games are exclusively developed with touch screen play in mind, while still being backwards compatible to regular PSP titles.
The design is a welcome change, but the lack of a touch screen is what made me forgo exchanging my old PSP when all I would get is a slider design and no UMD slot.
What do you readers think?

Except G.I. Joe. :p

If they're still saying that after, MGS:PO, Ace Combat X, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, FFVII: Crisis Core, God of War, Resistance Retribution, and Force Unleashed, I don't think anything is going to change their minds at this point.

It's more indifference than anything.

I think Disney's just paranoid, or their contract was signed before the PSPgo was even concepted (hint: it was), and thus doesn't yet account for the new system. I doubt there's any malevolence intended. Just stupid corporate bullshit.
11/24/09
It's definitely a better gift than G.I. Joe - Rise of Cobra. :P

unless you have something extremely wrong with games with unlimited replayability

You're right, though. Few games that aren't MMOs can promise 500 hours of gameplay (It's right there on the box!) and seriously mean it.

I hear Fatalis and I twitch in an orgasmic manner and run.
I hear Diablos and I jump to the side.
I hear Rathalos and I hide by the bushes.
I hear Khezu and look at the roof.
I hear Lao Shan and stop moving and don't even try.
I hear Chameleos and look everywhere frantically.
I hear Aptonoth and I calm down and cook me some meat.

You twitch orgasmically around Fatalis? There's something wrong with you, boy...
Not that Fatalis isn't hard. I haven't faced one yet, but I've heard the stories...
11/24/09
Also, I agree with the soloing thing. I play alone (for now; my bros are getting PSPs for Christmas and one's buying MHFU off PSN) and it seems fine to me. Guild quests are a pain, though.

When the mightiest wyvern was the Rathalos and the deadliest dragon was the FATALIS!
Basically it'll feel like its taking forever, your inventory is full with all possible potion alchemy ingredients and an alchemy guide.
Its mostly hit and run.Along the way if you're on co-op there will be some really really tense moments.
Like you're teammate is really close to the mouth when suddenly Fatalis turns to him and lunges if someone doesn't entertain it ,quite possibly Fatalis won't miss and if it does a expect a tail slam.
Also someone will eventually yell FIREBALL! or ITS LANDING! or FUCK!!!!!.
But overall is the most fun and energetic run I've ever had on my psp.
Umm its kinda like a Tigrex the first time you face a Tigrex but the Tigrex falls short to the might of Fatalis.
But if you do manage to beat it the armor its ..freaking wicked,

I look forward to the review, as the LBP demo grabbed my interest and beat it around the head a few times, so it's on my list. How high it goes on that list may be determined by you guys.
