Damn it Sony! I wanted this feature for the longest time but you had to do this on PSP2GO. I only have PSP-3001 and I will not go buy another PSP and different accessories to do the same thing that PSP2000/3000 can do (minus the BT-DS3).
So Sony, when will we be able to play PSP games on the PS3? On the PS4 or perhaps the PS3-PEST edition (Play Everything Sony Trio).
There's my hope and dreams to play PSU portable and DJ Max on a standard controller. #pspgo
This is the biggest reason I sprung for my Go, and I can't believe the feature's gone pretty much completely ignored by the media. It's expensive to get it all working flawlessly (cables, cradle), but it's worth every penny to play Monster Hunter without mangling my hands after several hours.
Also, the pads support every button for PS1 games, and you can connect 2 pads simultaneously for multiplayer. It's essentially a perfect PS1 experience in your pocket.
This is game is so fun. The only flaw is its roster size, and even that is a poor argument considering its a new title that has no similar characters. #blazblueportable
-long throw break window (~8 frames?, fastest poke is 5 frames. you can basically poke out of any throw making it useless outside of carl's clap trap. there is also throw break buffering which makes throws even more useless [except against people who mash recovery and terrible scrubs, who you really don't even need to throw to win]... Read More
-slow pokes (going back to the 4-5 frame poke thing. you can basically jump out of every mix-up or pressure string since pokes are so slow. also making you be able to block 90% of attacks without fd in the air without tension means even scrubs can jump out of any pressure string, unlike in gg you would have a risk/reward of losing tension and eating meaty anti airs if you tried to jump out of shit
-3 way roll (another way to help scrubs who don't know how to block oki wakeup games by removing it completely)
-zoning (top tier characters are too good at zoning and pressure except carl[who will fucking kill you off a 5a], whereas most of the cast can only do shit once they up close. either make pure zoning characters or pure rushdown. characters with both will obviously unbalance game
-There are lots more character specific shit that I don't feel like getting into.
Or we could just emulate PSP games on our PS3... seriously. If all of those PSP games were playable on my PS3 via emulation I would have bought so many of them by now.
I really expected a more elegant solution from Sony than some macguyvered AV cable. #pspgo
Spending 30 bucks on a game that has lower graphics but is a fulla nd complete game that i can just d/l and go would be such a novelty to have and it must be possible.
The only reason i can for see is that they dont want to hinder hardware sales but even then i would be a bit more pushed to purchase one especially if i could take my game and the game saves on the go with me #pspgo
@BallPtPenTheif: Offering the ability to play PSP games on a PS3 would potentially cannibalize the sales of PSPs. Besides, I doubt the ability would be a huge selling point for a PS3.
I do have a solution for this, but no doubt people would complain about it too. A compatibility firmware "unlock" fee which would be the cost of buying a PS2 to unlock a type of firmware PS2 bc on a PS3, the same for PSP compatibility at the same cost of buying a PSP. #pspgo
@ryanmartinez: That said, I wish they would have bundled it with the PSPGo. It's such a minuscule one-trick-pony of an option to sell separately no matter the price. I think that's the main gripe I have about it. #pspgo
@ryanmartinez: Part of me suspects that the reason the cable isn't bundled with the systems is to give retailers another PSPgo accessory to sell, to help encourage them that the system is worth stocking.
Either that, or Sony just wants to nickel and dime everybody as much as every other business in the world does. #pspgo
@flashtut: I really don't see it doing that since the draw for the PSP is portable gaming not exclusive games with bad graphics.
It's ridiculous that I have to re-purchase my games to play a crappier iteration that's portable. At least release them as a set if the content is similar.
If I can purchase and download old PS2 and PSone games to play on my PS3 and PSP, why not PSP games? It makes no sense. #pspgo
@ryanmartinez: I really don't care about the PSPGo. My issue is how games are locked to the PSP system when they could be easily played on my PS3. Hell, I can play some of my PS3 games on my PSP but not the other way around?
This whole cable thing is a joke. Why can't you just plug your PSP via USB to your PS3 and play it? Why aren't downloadable PSP games playable via my PS3 directly? These are features that would be huge. #pspgo
Why run this as a story? This isn't news - the PSPgo has been able to do this for the past month, and Sony played it up because it's arguably one of the only real upgrades over the PSP 3000.
@Rampage: The original poster has a point, even though I think it was made poorly. Sony sent Crecente a free cable, he used it and posted his impressions -- that's why it is up now, however that makes this a PR piece. #pspgo
@jayntampa: Thank you for stating that better than I did. The only reason this got a post is because Sony sent Crecente the cable - if he was interested in doing it earlier, he's had an entire month to track one down. Given that the cable retails for $30, it's not like the cable was prohibitively expensive.
@jomama22: It's a PR piece, because it's the kind of thing I placed for years as a public relations account exec lol
It's not a troll comment, it's based on my experience in the field.Just because it's a PR instigated piece doesn't make it invalid ... good public relations means that valid, useful information is provided to the public that is interested in that information. Journalists often rely on PR info to start very valid stories to inform their readership of pertinent information. Something being "PR" doesn't automatically make it bad.
Your post shows ignorance in the field. Attacking me in such a vitriolic way shows your immaturity. #pspgo
@Sonicandtails: i know, i even thought about the cheap easy gluing a quarter to the dpad fix.. but in the end, i cant bring myself to "modding" the dpad because all the ones i saw years ago when i got it required glue or permanent change.. which is something i just dont like doing to my hardware (im a hardcore collector). #blazblueportable
@☆Giroro G66☆: Yes, but if theyre gonna "downgrade" the graphics and keep the gameplay for the PSP, the Wii can surely handle it at 480p? I can only speculate. =) #blazblueportable
@☆Giroro G66☆: BlazBlue Portable probably isn't going to be HD though, so technically the Wii version would be more similar to that version. #blazblueportable
@Shiryu: Tatsunoko vs Capcom has a very nice celshaded rendering, which utilizes quite some TEV stages the Wii offers (TEV stages are basically "hard-wired shaders", which basically do the same thing as the freely programmable shaders of modern GPUs, just a bit more limited and a lot more tedious to program for).
The PSP's hardware doesn't offer that much flexibility in terms of pixel-level rendering, unfortunately. That's also a reason why Valkyria Chronicles 2 on the PSP doesn't have the celshaded style of the first game (they didn't even implement at least outlines). #blazblueportable
@Paradox me: Hahaha. You and me both. I am mystified by fighting games because they look SO GOOD, but I am completely incapable of playing them. #blazblueportable
@nago: As far as Street Fighter goes, it just takes a little practice. Starting with someone like Ken or Ryu and staying away from charge characters is a good way to get used to the game. #blazblueportable
@-MasterDex-: I would argue that charge characters are better for beginners since they can't do stupid stuff every two seconds. It actually makes them think about defense and their arsenal of moves. #blazblueportable
@Sutekh_Slain: But timing is much harder to get right and to use charge characters effectively, you first have to know the basics of the game which I think the shoto characters are best for. #blazblueportable
BlazBlue is so good, I still crave it when I play Tekken 6, SF4, or any other fighter... BlazBlue just has features to it's fighting mechanics that all other fighters are missing... The only bad thing I could think of is it's limited number of fighters to choose from. #blazblueportable

No, but you can pick up Arakune and mash bugs out to win. #blazblueportable

Or you can pick Bang or Hakumen and mash counter.
