Lightning's can opener looks super hot. Still, I think I'd rather have the ol' plain white with the logo trend all Euro covers have had.

What I'd like to have even *more* than that is some sexy metal case included in a special edition. I'm thinking "limited edition hardback cover for FFXII's official guide" kinda thing.

I almost lit my eyes on fire, but you included the PS3 box art and all was right with the world... I kid I kid. At one time I felt like Square Enix betrayed me by making it (FFXIII) multiplatform, but then I figured that now they can reach a bigger audience and consequently give me more people to gush about Final Fantasy with...And I'm all about gushing about Final Fantasy. All about it...

Oh and I like the simple, clean box art. Hope it stays that way for the US as well.

    Love it.

Although, is this box art international? Traditionally we Europeans have always had boxart that is just the Final Fantasy Logo, whilst you yankeedoodles have something less plain.

@Ursus-Veritas: Call me a traditionalist, but I hope they continue that trend. I've always liked that it's just a logo on a white background. Some might say it lacks any artistic merit, but I've always found it striking. It's what drew me to the series many years ago.

Not at all digging the stark white background or the tiny FF XIII logo. This is going overboard on the simplicity so much it's boring. I'm not sure this box is promoting all this game is going to have to offer. Would be tough to get a non-fan excited about the game with just this image. Give us some colors or a background or something... it's like she's at a photo shoot or something selling her coat for some trendy designer company.

@SuperSonik: Traditionally Final Fantasy games in Europe have plain covers - normally just the logo of the game. This is about as 'full' as you'd get for european FF boxart typically.

EDIT: Also, for people unaware of Final Fantasy, you have a shot of an incredibly attractive woman holding an incredibly cool looking sword. What's not to like? =D

@Super Violent St. Cannon- GOTY Edition: The cover does look a bit plain. Then again, I've always liked the plain white Japanese covers. Maybe it's not minimalist enough?

They better officially announce something fast because the budget version has just been released in Asia (and will be released in a couple of days in Japan). I am not sure how long I can resist spending $40 now and play through it with the very detailed FAQ made by The Patrick, like I did with Kenzan.

I am all for supporting an occidental release of the game, but my patience has limits.

I wonder if they just want to get it out and add motion control later, kinda like what Capcom is doing to RE:5. Somehow, I doubt it, though.

In reply to Ubisoft Plans 10 Games For Natal Next Year, 4-5 For PS3 Motion Controller
I think this can turn out to be highly successful if they manage to pull out some decent games they give you the *option* to use the motion controller or the *option* to use a regular controller. I forsee a few problems with Natal though, since there is virtually no way you can avoid having to get up off the couch to play a game using the motion control capabilities. At least with the PS3, you're holding something that you could use from the couch, if you really wanted to. I guess you can also play Natal while sitting on the couch, but it would probably think you're a very short person. I remain skeptical about the idea of just using a camera, and a camera alone for tracking. There should always be some sort of peripheral for a game of which you are holding. Natal would be great without holding anything as a wireless means of navigating a menu system, but that's all I see going for it without a lot of high risk endeavors.
