@syafiqjabar of Mars: Where's the cutscene of him puking his guts out...I mean, even the fittest runner can only handle so much exertion on a full stomach.
@exion: From what I've heard over the years, the 3D Pac-Man games were generally pretty terrible. I can't follow the link at the moment either, but it's interesting that Kotaku thinks this one looked sharp. It would be pretty sad if the one great 3D Pac was the one we never got to play.
It's really cool to see some videogame history though, I'll have a look through the PlayStation Museum when I can, I'm all nostalgic for the Playstation now.
@Arkesane: From what I recall, the Pac-Man World games got favourable reviews, but in my opinion, aside from the original style Pac-Man maze games (including the recent, excellent championship edition) and Pac-Land, I can't think of a single other game the character has ever felt like a good fit in.
If any videogame character could suffer from being typecast, that character is Pac-Man.
Makes me wonder how companies feel about bringing over Japan only releases to something like PSN. Just translate the game and put them up for download.
@Saint Anima: I suppose Policenauts is a lot more dialogue heavy (its a Kojima game after all!) than most other playstation games, but theres no reason this can't be done with other releases officially.
The 3DO were not region locked and I borrowed one at the time to play through the game. If Snatcher had a big Blade Runner feel and MGS several The Rock hommages, in Policenauts there are some scenes straight out of Lethal Weapon.
@RicoTheSaboteur: I'll agree with your statements about Snatcher and Policenauts, but you're off base in in reference to Metal Gear Solid.
The Metal Gear Series predates The Rock, you can't make an homage to something that didn't yet exist. Escape from New York, yes. The Terminator, yes. Even Rambo, yes. The Rock, highly unlikely since it wasn't released until 1996.
Play through Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake sometime, and you'll see much of what went into Metal Gear Solid in that story line, and that came out in 1990, 6 years prior to the release of The Rock.
@NEObraska: I am pretty sure Metal Gear Solid aka MGS (1998) was released after The Rock (1996). I am also pretty sure the music of the game is totally in the style of Hans Zimmer and when an old soldier is brought out of retirement and cuts his long hair before going to battle, it's hard to not remember Sean Connery in Bay's movie.
I am not saying the other links you point out are wrong, I think you just missed the S in MGS.

@Strife Fox †: The main character is one of the first five cops sent to the first space colony, but he has an "accident" and ends up cryogenized in his space suit while drifting in space. He is found accidentally a couple dozen years later. All his former friends and colleagues are now way older than him and the space colony became a huge city. He starts a private investigator business on earth and the game begins when a mysterious woman enters his office. Doesn't all classic detective stories begin like that?.... I mean, without the frozen in space part?
@Twoje: SotC is the prequel to ICO. They take place in the same world, the shadows in the temple are the same as the ones you deal with in ICO, and apparently the main character from SotC is kinda like the great great great great great granddaddy of Ico in ICO.
The only real indication of this in the game, from what I can remember, is the ending. But Ueda has explained through various interviews how the two are connected.
@Cervidanti: My thoughts exactly. It'll be a while before Kojima can make stories that are as flawlessly consistent as Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog.
@Rictor: Yeah... People bitch about the nanomachines. While the nanomachine thing is unrealistic, and a very convenient plot device, everything else makes perfect sense. Anyone expecting MG to be realistic is fooling themselves, and they probably set up false expectations. It's fantasy, not freaking Tom Clancy.
