I hope I will enjoy Fallout: New Vegas. Knights of the Old Republic II may be my only Obsidian comparison, but while I loved the first game in that series, I didn't really care for the sequel. To each their own, however. I'm definitely planning on at least renting New Vegas.
"... it felt more like a warm up for 2010, the year the company will launch Project Natal."
I can't imagine a scenario where Project Natal will not suck. Honestly. Oh people will buy it, because they think it's some "new" way to play games. But it will suck, plain and simple. If 2010 hinges on Natal, then it's gonna be a bad year for Xbox 360 games.
I don't see a lot of big name stuff, hopefully there will be other things announced deeper into the year. One thing that helps all the consoles now is sales from PSN/XBL/Wii Store. A lot of time, the games being released in those places aren't announced till not long before their release date, so I hope we can get some new downloadable titles in the near future that look kickass.
@plasticmouse: Remedy's behind it. AKA the studio behind the Max Payne series (not the new one). A quality studio + the time it's been in production makes me and many others quite hopeful.
I can't imagine what these guys can come up with, with the time and the budget they've had. I fully expect a well crafted story plus some interesting gameplay mechanics. Don't forget, these guys pretty much invented the bullet time feature.
@Striderhayasa - Can we get some damn m/kb support?!: Well I would be surprised, tbh. FFXIII, God of War 3, Starcraft 2, Red Dead Redemption and Dead Rising 2 all look more exciting so far, imo. And I'm sure Last Guardian will be a better game as well.
@FP_slomo788: yeah but I was talking just the 360 games. If we're talking about games for all consoles...I can't call it. Even Wii is getting Metroid: Something or other, a potential candidate.
At this moment though, FFXIII is my early pic overall. I really liked FFXII and I still think FFX is one of the best RPGs ever made but there's something about XIII that's really grabbing me
@SoulAssassin808: Haha nah. I'm not a fanboy. I had a 360 first. I just got bored of it. Never played it. It was in the cupboard a month before I put it on ebay. Everyone's different!
@RROD74: lol! Actually I never had Live. I didn't see the point in paying for something monthly that I would only use now and again. But that's as good a reason as any to quit!
As far as exclusive titles go for the 360 next year, the only ones that interest me at all are Alan Wake and Splinter Cell. Considering I only have a PS3, I'm glad some of the best looking games are going to be multiplat.
@ThreeOneFive: Splinter Cell is coming out for PC as well. But many games are considered exclusives to the 360 even though they're coming to the PC as well, simply because they aren't going to the Wii/PS3. Not everyone can afford a computer monster that will be able to handle these games so that's why they still call them exclusives.
@PunkyChipsAhoy: Bleh, I don't understand that "It's still exclusive to Xbox, PC doesn't count" mentality. Is it really because they can't afford a PC like you say? Or is it because they're looking at it in terms of some silly "console war" between Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo, and not how things actually are? Do they even know the meaning of the word "exclusive"?
@ThreeOneFive: I don't know why, but PC games and console games are considered seperate. Think about it: most stores will keep PC games in one place, console games another. Somewhere along the line PC's weren't considered consoles in the traditional sense, so they've always been kind of kept seperate. Its been going on forever, I remember Final Fantasy 7 was considered a Playstation exclusive, despite it being released for PC as well.
I think it will be this way until the end of this gen. More IPs are established now than 3 years ago, every dev has reasonable experience on every platform (except Valve) both in terms of marketing and programming.
I also have high hopes for Natal, I really hope MS does it right.
Maybe the year I finally pick up a 360? Not sure. ME2 is definitely a PC purchase... hm, will have to see how Fable 3 and Alan Wake turn out. Splinter Cell would be a definite buy.
crackdown 2, halo reach, and maybe splinter cell are the only games i care about on this list (that arent available for ps3).
looks like the wii and ps3 will be getting lots of love from me in 2010. oh.. and please announce killer instinct 3 at e3 microsoft, itd make me happy.
Alan Wake and Natal are the real items to watch this year.
You'll get plenty of gaming goodness from the other properties, and perhaps some of them will marginally innovate here or there, but for the most part they'll all be exactly what is expected of them, albeit a bit shinier. Halo will be Halo, Fable will be Fable, Mass Effect will be... you get the point.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to each and every one of them, but none of them are as exciting and risky as Alan Wake and Natal.
The potential for failure is pretty steep (Wake feels like it's been in development for an eternity, Natal could simply become the new "waggle"), but both at the very least offer the chance to experience something new, which none of the other titles can make claim to.
@Wolfnave: The funny thing is that I should agree with you, but I just can't get excited about Wake. I've read all about it, but still can't shake the feeling of a prettier Silent Hill with a dash of Condemned tossed in.
I'm basically the opposite- very excited about the new features in ME2, and interested yet ho hum about Alan Wake.
Fable III, Halo:Reach, Crackdown 2, Dead Rising 2 and Mass Effect 2? In one year?
I'm already happy. I don't even need anything else - maybe a little summer of arcade something to tide me over in summertime? Depends on when the Reach Beta hits.
Aside from Alan Wake, there isn't much I'm interested in on Xbox next year, and even then I'm holding out for Remedy and Microsoft to breath some life back into the PC version. Putting it on an indefinite hold was an absolute shame, and a straight up cancellation would be a travesty.
Looking ahead to 360 games announced in 2010, looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Mistwalker's next big console title.

Only one I'm hyped about is Mass Effect2.
But Bioshock2 and fallout:NV could be worthy if they make a 2010 release...

Haven't heard anything for a while...

Yes.

The Ballad of Gay Tony and ODST should have been GTA IV: GOTY and Halo 3: GOTY, is it just me or did L4D2 feel like a let down too?
That said, Forza is easily the best racing game of 09, splosion man and Shadow Complex were pretty decent too.

Splinter Cell, Crackdown and Natal already make next year a better year for the 360.
