    I'd like to argue that you're doing Liverpool a disservice with this analogy, but I just watched the Soccernet gamecast of the Reds-Birmingham match. Drew 2-2 at home to a team that was in the Championship last season. Great.

    On the other hand, I'm now a bit ill that I have a Chelsea disc in my 360 at home.

    Yeah a draw that Liverpool only got due to a truly dreadful ref's decision after a blatant dive by Ngog, Gerrard tried the same thing later in the match!
    As a Bluenose I'm gutted and can see yet another bad ref's decision costing us dearly at the end of the season when it's going to be tight at the bottom of the league. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    im going to convert to fifa, konami are just not changing much anymore, whereas fifa now copied more or less everything (including the controls, new alternative)and have offical teams.

    I bought both, I've always been a PES fan. But this year I'm returning it and keeping FIFA. I've been going PES over FIFA for about 10 years now and honestly I feel like I'm betraying a friend but in all honesty I feel that this year FIFA is the better game. Though clearly PES has the looks, FIFA has the brains. Just in terms of jostling for the ball, I couldn't go back to PES after I saw how brilliant it looked on FIFA. I will say that the F'd kit for Boca Juniors was a huge minus for me. but even still. This year is all FIFA for me. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    No mention of the TERRIBLE support for this (and all the other now that I think about it) PES titles from KONAMI?

    PC users are currently enjoying a lovely little bug that that requires opponents to have the same brand of processor.
    (Seriously, if you're AMD and your friend is INTEL you won't make it to half time because the game will crash. Try it.)

    EA may be milking FIFA for all it's worth, but at least FIFA fans get a playable experience.

    @MrBounce: Winning Eleven is the title used in Asian markets (and maybe in North America a few years ago?). It's Pro Evolution Soccer everywhere else. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    @dd528: Gotcha. I used to do a lot of heavy importing (well I guess I still do) and Winning Eleven was a title that I played for quite a few years.

    Shame about how the comparison falls apart when you look at how much money Liverpool have actually spent, with a nett spending higher than that of United Rafa's money related rants are simply incorrect.

    Other than that, has the game significantly improved from the demo or is it still that awful game I played a month or 2 ago and deleted straight away. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    @No I wouldn't like tea and crumpets: The word on the street is that only the Japanese demo actually does justice to the full game, but for some funny reason, since I played FIFA10 I've not had the urge to determine the validity of that particular rumour... #proevolutionsoccer2010

    If you're able to change button config in the Fifa game i'm willing to try both. I'm mostly looking for the game with the fewest animations from first contact to control. Pes09 seriously dillydally'd around with the ball for far too long, making you a sitting duck, basically.

    I long for my arcade football fill.. Pro Evo 5 (PS2) is still the pinnacle of football gaming, imo, as it was as fluid and paced as the player demanded of it. Very harmonious balance, it had.. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    @D-K, a burning sensation: FIFA has had for a few years now the option to use a "pro evo" control setup.

    @Luke Plunkett: Pro evo allows me to assign my own buttons, which ironically resemble Fifa 2001's controls.

    i.e, circle to shoot and pressure, square to lob and tackle, L1 for pass (yeah, i know) and X to change players (the reason L1 is pass)

    When it comes to my football controls, i'm stubborn... unyeilding even.

    @D-K, a burning sensation: I agree with your comments. I have played Winning Eleven on PS2, and have PES 2008, 2009 and 2010 for PS3.

    08 and 09 were poor but 2010 is actually good. Especially the online which works and isn't lag. The graphics are fantastic, especially the lighting. There are also option files available (including US version) which has updated squads, fixed names and the correct kits.

    However I still feel the PS2 gameplay is most fun, but that's ok since the PSP versions have continued to use that engine and the gameplay is the same as the glorious PS2 releases. Try PES2010 for PSP if you want that gameplay.

    When I was in Japan a handful of years ago, I heard about PES and didn't know anything about it.

    When I hit the front page and saw this review, I still didn't know anything about PES. Kinda makes me wonder why they're still making the game.

    In truth, I'm sure there are diehards in the areas of the world that grew up on PES so I'm sure this one will still sell. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    Sometimes refs in pes just don't make any sense... and the game speed alteration may have countered clunky slow animations..

    Man, its weird. Before Fifa was the game with all the licenses and PES was the awesome game with none. Now Fifa has the licenses and the superior gameplay. Still nice to see the online is FINALLY working. #proevolutionsoccer2010

    @excel_excel: Yeah, but too bad that Konami's finally working Online is still going to be dwarfed by the options and amount of games played on Fifa. FIFA Interactive World Cup, Pro Club Championships, Head to Head, and Team Play give a great variety of online games. Just getting working now is, well, pretty lame.

    I will still never forget my late night Master League marathons and holding tournaments in the college dorms with friends from around the world on Pro Evo, but it's Fifa's time now. #proevolutionsoccer2010
