Dear _____, A welcome solution to increasing sales is actually drop the price of the games by $10. It seems ridiculous that a title fares for $60 then in 3 - months, sells for $40.
For those that can't add, with DLC, your great title actually sells for $80 to $100 (Fallout 3 is perfect example).
Wanna sell more consoles, make the games cheaper.
PS: make LIVE free (Extremely doubtful, but I had to post that for my Live friends...teehee)
I kind of wish PS3 went the Arcade route in the beginning to help them with the high prices by having no built in wi-fi and such then maybe it would have been cheaper

@(Zombie) Goldwings: Taking out the USB's and wifi would have saved some money, but not that much. It's hard to take out much else without really changing the machine (take the 360's lack of hard drive for example). I think they knew they couldn't drive the price that low in the beginning so they threw in a lot of stuff to make the perception of value greater. I mean, silver trim, come on!
@Gray665: Doesn't matter. PS3 offers a boatload of great and imaginatively varied exclusives, Blu-Ray movie capability, free online play and formidable reliability. It doesn't need to ever be as cheap as the 360. It is an extremely desirable piece of kit in it's own right. At the right price, it will sell just fine.
Some folks think that Sony will stomach more losses with a price cut, but they are being silly Billys for saying so!
A PS3 price cut would have everything to do with lower manufacturing costs associated with a hardware refresh.
People can complain all they want about Sony being stubborn, but I believe this is what they have had to do all along. Push costs down and *then* the price.
The 360 is already dirt cheap, and anyone waiting for a price cut to buy it, isn't really going to end up buying it. The 360 could be priced at 100$ and people would still say its too expensive.
@Slagathorian: It's true. The perception of price for the 360 and the Wii are already low. It would take some work to offer a profitable product and yet increase the perception of value.
It seems unlikely that Microsoft would cut the price again before Natal launches...packing Natal in with consoles would force them to raise the price later, and a price RAISE is infinitely more harmful than lacking a price cut. MS is in a position right now where Sony cutting the price won't hurt them too much; it would be safer for them to wait and cut it when Natal hits.
As for Sony, anyone who thinks a price cut isn't hitting with the PS3 Slim before the end of the year is just insane.
@Meeeh: If you're mind is set on buying one then do it now go for those bundles or wait for one of those amazon, dell deals or try to buy one with BC if you want to play ps2 games.
Like i said if you really want to buy it then do it now that way you will have some money for that fall games flood ^_^
Does any one really care that the ps3 is more expensive? Frankly, I'm glad most kids under a certain age can't afford it/have their parents buy it for them, because online gaming is truly a great experience without adolescent boys. Truly!
I do think that whenever / whatever Sony does in terms of lowering the price of the PS3...
Microsoft will turn around and answer with their own price drop / offering.
Basically doing the same thing the PS2 did to the XBOX last generation. Every time they try to "catch up" on the price point curve, the other will answer and drop their price accordingly to keep up the gap in price points between the consoles.

@gojirah: If not mistaken, the left is far more valuable than the right... that's why really expensive shit costs a left nut, and items that tend to be cheap crap are covered by the slightly devalued right ball. That sound about right or is someone going to get all teste about that comment.
@Nyarlethotep_45: Your reasoning is sound. But far more valuable? That's a ballsy thing to say. I mean, in the movie Speed, would you compliment Keanu Reeves heroics by saying,"You've got one big, round, harry cajone" or would you say "some big, harry"? Clearly the intact pair is important.
i heard of this place once. a place where people live. a lot of people...around 60 million in fact. and they were civilised (some might say). they went shopping, they watched tv, a lot of them played games. so its no surprise that they also enjoyed sales. this place im talking about it called the United Kingdom.
basically, what im trying to say is...i live in the god damn UK, i read this god damn blog every god damn day and i would like it if you would inform the uk people where they can pick up song god damn bargains so we dont end up wasting our god damn money.
