Similar to the deal that GameStop ran a few weeks ago, the full band kit can be had for a song, a price "currently not available online." Looks like someone needs the space for the Fall flood of Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band boxes. On top of that, we're told "roughly 200 price drops" went into effect today, meaning Spring's retail bombs can be Summer's low-risk purchases.

Found any deals? Let us know! And thanks to GameStop Manager X for the heads up.

<![CDATA[Ubisoft Believes In Price Drops And Fitness Games]]> During Ubisoft's financial earnings call today, CEO Yves Guillemot highlighted the importance of fitness games, suggesting that coming console price drops could drive the growing genre to even greater heights.

Responding to a question on growing trends in the games industry, Guillemot singled out both fitness games and lowered console prices before expertly tying the two points together.

"We will see a real growth of the high-end consoles because they will go down in price. We will also see more fitness products sold. It's a genre that is growing fast. And I think that the market will grow really if hardware machines are down in terms of price."

Guillemot's interest in the fitness genre isn't merely prurient, of course, with the CEO indicating that Ubisoft would have a new fitness product to show off in a few days. Nice to see a company saving some of their secrets for E3.

<![CDATA[Microsoft Dates PlayStation 3 Price Drop For Springtime]]> The PlayStation 3 will get a price drop in 2009. It just has to if Sony wants the console to keep up, install base-wise. Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg agrees and expects a cheaper PS3 within months.

He tells Edge Online that Microsoft is planning on its console competition becoming more price competitive in 2009. Not really his call, obviously, but failing to plan means planning to fail, right?

"We absolutely expect the PS3 price drop to happen in the next couple of months," Greenberg said, following recent Microsoft sales boasting. "We're frankly surprised it's taken this long. I would expect they'd have to move on price, sooner than later, for sure."

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves disagrees. He says not to expect a price cut this Spring, sticking to the "value added" thing. With PlayStation 3s reportedly getting cheaper to make, we'd expect it sooner rather than later — "no plans" notwithstanding.

<![CDATA[Analyst: Sony Worried Over 360 Price Cuts]]> With Microsoft dropping Xbox 360 prices by a substantial chunk of change in Europe this Friday, you have to wonder how Sony is taking the news. While Strategy Analytics analyst David Mercer doesn't see the price of the PlayStation 3 dropping before the end of the year, he does believe Sony is going to be paying close attention to their day-to-day sales numbers from here on out.

"Sony will be nervous that the PS3's recent sales surge may fizzle out now that the premium Xbox 360 undercuts the PS3 by GBP 40, and the cheapest Xbox model is almost half the price of the PS3," commented principle analyst David Mercer.
I can imagine this is certainly true, but things will get a lot less worrisome once June 12th rolls about. Nothing spurs momentum than the game that millions bought your console for in the first place!
