Launching in mid-December, the Knothole Island downloadable content pack features will see the player journeying to the titular landmass, where they will have to undergo the trials of the three shrines to bring the dying island back to life. There are new quests to undertake, bizarre new characters to interact with, and new items to dress up your saint or sinner with. Along with the Knothole Island pack, which will run 800 MS points, they'll also be releasing a free pack that will allow owners of the premium content to play co-op with those without.

Note that both packs will come with special gifts for downloaders, including Knight's Boots, Assassin's gloves, a collectible silver book, and a weight loss potions, perfect for those sick of hunting down celery every time they eat a damn pie.

<![CDATA[PS3 Gets Premium Themes Tomorrow]]> Along with the normal cornucopia of content dropping with the PlayStation Network tomorrow, Sony is kicking off a brand-new feature for those of you looking for a new way to spend your hard-earned cash customizing your console. Premium themes are special themes that you can purchase that contain high-quality graphics, customized buttons, and in some cases even special sounds. Since premium themes cost money, a preview will be available for each selection before the purchase is completed.

Sony plans on releasing 6-10 new premium themes per month, giving PS3 owners ample opportunities to pay good money for something you should ideally hardly ever see. Hit the jump for a few more examples, including a rather attractive BioShock offering that I am seriously considering picking up.

<![CDATA[Atari Ignores Questions of NWN Support, Pimps NWN2 Instead]]>

Atari has issued an official response to questions about the cancellation of the Neverwinter Nights premium module program, as well as all future support or patches. They basically pimp NWN2 instead.

Atari understands the importance and popularity of the mod community, which has supported the Neverwinter Nights franchise for years. Atari remains as committed to the franchise and the growing members of the community as ever and we've still got quite a bit more news in-store for everyone between now and September. Our goal is to make Neverwinter Nights 2 one of the most compelling RPG experiences seen in years by also making it one of the most mod-friendly games ever.

Fair enough, I'm sure NWN2 will be great. But what many of us are interested in is NWN2's official premium content. NWN was a great experiment, allowing a community-oriented game to flourish long past the point of technological obsolescence through continuous patches that added features for which the mod community clamored. Those patches were funded by premium modules. Is NWN2 going to handle this the same way?
