Features 130 Cards Introducing Never-Before-Seen Pokémon Shaymin and a New Forme of Popular Renegade Pokémon Giratina

BELLEVUE, Wash. - December 18, 2008 - Prepare to face challenges that no Pokémon Trainer has ever before encountered as Pokémon USA, Inc., a worldwide leader in the trading card game industry, announces the all-new Pokémon® Trading Card Game (TCG): Platinum. Hitting stores on February 11, 2009, this latest installment of the best-selling Pokémon TCG features 130 cards. Additionally, Platinum contains six new Pokémon LV.X, including Giratina and Shaymin, as well as three Shiny Pokémon, which are only available as parallel foil cards.

The announcement of Pokémon TCG: Platinum coincides with Nintendo of America Inc.'s announcement of the highly anticipated video game release of Pokémon Platinum Version, which comes to retail on March 22, 2009. The Platinum video game and trading card game are linked by another notable thread as they both include the key character Giratina. Featured as one of the key characters in the Pokémon Platinum video game, the new Forme of Giratina is also a paramount addition to the Pokémon TCG expansion.

The first step in the next Pokémon TCG adventure, Platinum, features theme decks for beginner and intermediate Pokémon players, as well as booster packs for collectors and players of all ages. The theme decks will be available in two 60-card theme decks-Rebellion and Flourish-and feature an innovative packaging look with holographic treatment. <![CDATA[Japanese Cram School Employee Arrested For Nintendo Piracy]]> Yet, another DS game piracy arrest. A 57 year-old cram school manager has been taken into custody for illegally pirated Nintendo products. He was arrested after complaints from Nintendo.

The suspect, who resides in Ehime Prefecture's Imabari City, apparently sold Super Mario World burned on a CD-RI and Pokémon Platinum on a microSD card to a Matsuyama City man. Using Yahoo! Auctions, the suspect was selling bundles that included R4-style devices along with data on microSD cards and CD-RIs for ¥8,500.

After Nintendo complained to the Ehime Prefecture Cyber Patrol, police raid the suspect's house, where they found four computers, 5 R4-style devices and approximately 70 sales vouchers.

<![CDATA[Pokemon Platinum Announced, Due In The Fall]]> Yeah, you read that right. New. Pokemans. Prepare yourself (though don't get too excited). Although strongly hinted at last month (and subsequently spilled in a few Japanese mags earlier in the week), it's only now had its wraps officially taken off by Nintendo. Titled Pokemon Platinum, it's due sometime in the Fall. Those hoping for a new, full Pokemon adventure will be disappointed to hear it's just an expansion to Diamond/Pearl (much like Pokemon Yellow, back in the day). Those happy with any Pokemon they can get , however, should still be tickled pink. Click through for a couple of new, teeny screens.
