My game dollars this week will be going to The Darkness and the harry Potter game for the Wii. There are several others I'd like to get, but I'm saving my pennies for the Limited Edition of BioShock coming in just under two months. Which of this week's blockbuster titles will you be picking up?

<![CDATA[ Pokemon Turns Your DS Into Wii-mote ]]>

The "Father of Pokémon" Tsunekazu Ishihara believes in Pokémon, even saying that the hardware with Pikachu and company will win. Company grandstanding is nice and all, but what exactly about Pokémon Battle Revolution will be so special?

To put it simply, if you have a DS with either Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl inserted in it, and you are playing with your Pokémon and you have a copy of the Wii's Battle Revolution, you will be able to use your Pokémon in the Wii version to fight against other Pokémon. In effect your DS becomes like the controller for the Wii.

Swell. Am I the only one whose head hurts?

<![CDATA[ Gallery: Pokemon Battle Revolution ]]> If I tried to pretend I'm a fan of Pokemon or provide the illusion that I've played anything but the cash-in branded titles Pokemon Puzzle League and Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64, well, you'd see right through it.

While at the Nintendo Media Summit, we were shown a Pokemon Battle Revolution online battle via the Wi-fi Connection and, let me tell you, it was definitely Pokemon. Online. And things were definitely battling. Was it a revolution? I'm afraid I can't be the judge of that. It sure looked pretty, though. While the turn-based gameplay of Pokemon Battle Revolution makes lag concerns mostly moot, interested parties should know that it looked like smooth sailing.

If you're the kind of guy or gal who loves Pokemon and gets pumped for screenshots, keep those eyeballs scrolling downward for 10 new shots of the game in action.

<![CDATA[ Save To Your Wii-mote, Battle It Out Pokemon Style ]]>

Details for Pokémon Battle Revolution have been aired over at Dengeki Online. Here's the skinny:

  • Free Battle
  • Duke it out in a a Coliseum battle. Players can save data to their Wii-mote and then upload it to the software on a completely different Wii. Almost cool enough to make me not loathe Pokémon, but not quite.
  • WiFi Battle
  • Fight with players across with Japan. Well, players whose friend codes you know.

Oh, also you can color coordinate outfits for your trainer. Should you be into that sorta thing.

<![CDATA[ Watch Pokemon Battle Revolution ]]>

From the Nintendo briefing yesterday in Japan, here's footage of the upcoming Pokemon Wii game. Low-res clip, but still looks pretty neat. That's company prez. Satoru Iwata rambling on in Japanese.

Thanks, Jeff
