ah well, i suppose we get broken steel around the same time that we would have done but honestly, this is now the THIRD time bethesda have irritated me unduly... >:(

first by postponing the DLC, second by promising it in june and failing to deliver it, third by postponing what must SURELY be only a fairly simple port for so long! and whats all this shit (excuse the french) about HOPING it'll be out by the end of september?!?! What the HELL can be their reasons for this?!

ick... i need to go lie down and pray they dont rip the shit out of us AGAIN late september ¬_¬

At least they're getting broken steel first now. I probably should have waited for it on the 360 version before I did The Pitt/Operation:Anchorage. I lost out on a lot of experience, and I can't bring myself to try and level up any more.

@Bialia: Blame the console they're trying to optimize it for...or the company they're having to go through in the process (Sony).

Bethesda is probably doing their best, but what they have to work with probably isn't cooperating too well.

@Shandy706: Countless other games are ported or released multiplat with little drama. And Bethesda's communication on the matter has sucked from day one. I wouldn't be so pissed at this point if they had handled it differently from the start. At the end of the day, in spite of everything I really was looking forward to this DLC. They made a good game, and I wanted more. Now I'm so annoyed with them, I don't even want to hear the name Fallout for a while. And when this content is released, in the midst of the fall-holiday rush, behind schedule, it's probably gonna perform completely below expectations and they'll write the PS3 off as unprofitable, again. A self fulfilling prophecy if I've ever seen one.

This doesn't have much to do with the DLC, but is anyone kind of getting sick of the monocolored graphical schemes? Brown and gray are bad enough. Do we need every color in a game to be shade of blue now? Do developers even realize that they CAN use more than one color at a time? I don't know about the rest of you guys, but to me monocolored color schemes don't make a game "artsy". They just make it annoying to look at.

IIRC, the game actually has a ton of color to it. There is a filter in place that washes it out, for a cinematic effect. The PC version has a mod that removes that effect.

@RockyRan: The game takes place in a post apocalyptic wasteland devoid of most life. What do you expect? Rainbows and ponies?

That being said, there are a lot of places in the Fallout universe that have a lot of color and style.

@RockyRan: The colors don't bother me as much as the lack of variety in the objects. It would be nice if every single room I search didn't ahve identical lockers, shelves, terminals, boxes, machinery, etc.

"At least they have a date"? Didn't they already have one? June? We know how that turned out. "Hoping" for a late september release doesn't sound like much of a reliable schedule to me.

Anyway, Bethesda will also be hurt by this delay: releasing the DLC in the midst of the busiest trimester of the year is the best way to ensure nobody has the time to play it (and thus buy it) amongst the onslaught of new titles. No matter how good the DLC is, it's still for an "old" game, and we gamers aren't renowned for our wide attention span.

Well, at the very least, it looks like Broken Steel will come around when it's supposed to. BS being first makes sense, really, what with the level cap raise.

It makes much more sense to start with the DLC that lets you continue playing with 10 more levels to achieve.

The Pitt and OA were not a fun time when you had to make splinter characters within your saves.

@TaggarT6: That would be the Game of the year edition. Usually, greatest hits copies offer the initial game at a cheaper price while GOTYs have extras in them.

Enjoy waiting. Fallout 3 is still 50-60 dollars depending on where you go to buy it. On top of that, when Mothership Zeta is released, there will be a total of $50 in just DLC. It will be a long time before we see a GOTY edition or something of the sort with ALL the DLC included.

Wasnt it announced a few weeks back that a GOTY edition of the game would come out for the PS3 which bundles all the DLCs in one package as stated in the bullet points: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3#Retail_versions

Also isnt Fallout Las vegas coming out in the Fall?

I have a question for fallout folks in regards to the axe in the image. Is melee/hand-to-hand actually a viable skillset to use for the entire game?

I beat the game once as a good guy mainly using small weapon spec. The power fists and super sledge hammers looked neat but I just couldn't see how getting wailed on while running up to a bad guy was better than picking them off in VATS with lincolns repeater or something like that.
