    I'm not so sure how I feel about this. I'm still going to call and I still want to bring up what I'd planned to, but Cliff? Hm, well, alright.

    I heard a lot of bashing of him when I worked at a Marin GameStop where we had EA and LucasArts guys coming in all the time. They thought he was a total hack. So my opinion of him is rather low.

    But I'll still call.

    @-MasterDex-: In somewhat of a related note, I'd love to see someone ask if CliffyB plans to stop making the Gears series for the 360 due to rampant piracy of games like Modern Warfare 2.

    But yeah, it's just a typical Irish thing though, swearing. Wouldn't you wonder how everyone in Fair City can try so so hard to not swear? It's just part of who we are, embrace it I say. Typing's easier to compose yourself because you can just stop when you can't thing of something instead of... ah, what's the feckin' word for it now?... stumbling over a conversation like that.

    Well i think most ppl who voted for ACII or Borderlands haven't played Uncharted 2 . Really the only game that deserves it . I played all the other games and really love them but you can see the love NaughtyDog gave Uncharted .

    so GOTY should be uncharted.

    remmember its not the most fun you had with A game its the best game overall ( because ppl have diffrent experiences)

    what i meant is not many ppl really own a ps3 so they didnt try it . but alot of ppl have xbox's so i dont think the voting will be fair because not that many ppl got to try this awesome game .

    Absolutely Uncharted 2. It did everything almost flawlessly, and really, it raised the bar in so many different ways. Whether it be graphics, level design, or what is easily the best acting in any game I've ever seen, it may be awhile before we see anything that can compare.

    I do have a PS3, and I didn't even want to get Uncharted 2.

    I haven't seen anything that suggests that it has anything beyond loose, Gears of War style gunplay, which is good fun, but not the second coming of Christ, and some pretty weak stealth elements that I would probably enjoy, but are again, hardly that revolutionary.

    What do people find to be so amazing about the game, specifically? Puzzles, the Hollywood style explosions in the levels? I'm genuinely curious. Even better, if you can post a youtube video of one of your favorite sections of the game, I'm curious to see what all the fuss is about.

    @Shinta: "Game of the Year" most always has been a blockbuster award, meaning it's going to go to the obvious candidates: Batman, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, or Assassin's Creed. Personally, all four draw a meh from me because we've been there before and are there each and every year as we watch the larger budgeted 3-D action fare duke it out for the honor.

    Personally, my Game of the Year is Trials HD. I know it has a snowball's chance in hell of winning, and that's being overly optimistic itself, but I can think of no other game that'll I'll be playing for years on end and still get challenged every step of the way. The problem with these awards is that inevitably you have all kinds of people with differing tastes trying to decide which is singularly the best game released that year, a process which will only push forth the best homogeneous choice.

    @Kobun: So true. I usually enjoy the category awards more, best sound, graphics, multiplayer, etc, as it seems more likely that we'll be able to get closer to a good decision with a more specific approach.

    @twinturbo2: Next to Undefined Fantastic Object, Forza 3 is getting the lion's share of my playtime...

    Though I think it's about to plummet - I can't connect to online games due to NAT issues, but my Gold trial just expired, so now I can't even browse the storefront. That kind of makes it a Gran Turismo with fewer cars and looser physics. :/

    Have I missed something, or is "Game of the Year" code for "Game that just came out within the last two months?"

    I'd like to suggest "The Maw" for the long shot dark horse. It held a great deal of imagination, I had a lot of fun and felt more creative and inspired than most of the games offered here.

    My vote goes to Uncharted 2, with runner up being Assassin's Creed 2. Specials honors for Batman and Borderlands. Haven't had the chance to play Dragon Age yet, waiting for Christmas on that one =(
